You think Grunt's scene would've worked better if he actually died?

I had just gotten  Kasumi's fake death prior to Grunt's. I was getting the impression it was going to be fake-outs all the way until I got to Mordin.

Ah, I don't have Kasumi.  So I got Jondam Bau's actual death.  Might have got Lt Victus's death before then too.

The game was trying too hard to tell you that Grunt was going to have an heroic death. "I'll hold them off, Shepard, you go" - cue dramatic music. "But Grunt..." "Go!" and then he laughs his signature slow laugh and goes down in a blaze of glory... predictable!

His survival caught me by surprise and made everything much better. I get that his death would have been okay, a very "by the book" sacrifice, but also a bit boring if you see it coming. To me it's a nice twist :)

He should have died if you rescued the queen and lived if you chose to leave her.

I agree with this here. It was a nice surprise and made me smile. Grunt was never my favorite in the series, but they somehow gave him a little more personality in the final game.

I got Grunt to die during my first playthrough.

The scene was so sad, I had to reload and kill the Rachni queen instead.

I get the impression, Grunt will be a dlc squadmate....you don't have any Krogan squadmates yet in ME3, he's only in the one rachni mission....and Wrex says Grunt only has a few scratches and that they'll get him back and ready to go....

And Thanes old room on the Normandy is empty, why not throw a familiar Krogan in there?

NO! Grunts survival was one of the best part of the game for me! I was sitting there going... "omg he's dead.. wow..."
When he dragged himself out, bloodsoaked from the battle I was suddenly shouting fffFFFFFFFFFFFFF********************************** YYYYYYESSS!"

Grunt's scene would have been better if you had gotten a chance to try and stop him and he ignores you.

This is probably my third or fourth post on the subject but, seriously, leaving your teen-aged Krogan ward behind to die is bizarrely OOC for a Paragon Shep.

Sometimes I think nobody understands the Krogan.

Leaving him to fight his way through reaperized Rachnii was the Krogan equivalent of taking him to Disneyland.

Patrick Weekes mentioned on Twitter some time ago, that Joker has a unique (and supposedly pretty funny) dialog if Grunt was killed, does anyone have a video of that?

No.
Plus, he dies if you didn't his loyalty quest in me2.
I was already moved and proud of him when I saw Grunt kicking asses without fire weapons and falling. Seeing him alive made me happy.

I had the same exact reaction....no lie

A lot of people say the most emotional moment for them are Mordin and Legions deaths.....but for me, I was so tense and my eyes were welling up during Grunts scene, with the music playing I was sure he was going to die, he was going out in a blaze of glory.....

And then he stumbles out like BOSS....and my exact reaction: "F*** YEEEEAAAAHHHH!!!"

afterwards, I saved my game and powered down my Xbox, pounded a beer in gratification and went to bed and had a good nights sleep... Too bad that wouldn't last much longer because of the....dun Dun DUN: The Ending

Nah. Grunt wouldn't have gone out like that - unless he wasn't loyal, I guess.

I like that scene as it is because I just don't think it's enough of a bad situation to bring Grunt down.

Of course, I adore Grunt so maybe I'm biased.

I like that he lives. I think it already works. And as said by people already, he can die. I just don't think I'd want to see another friend die. You already lose Mordin (depending on your choices).

I actually thought that I did end up killing Grunt. I wouldn't have minded if the Rachni decision cost me something personal so I could have been OK with it.

Maybe he should have died in this scene if he was not made loyal in me2. Personally I was glad he survived.

Hell no. The Grunt stuff is some of the ONLY good parts of the game(the stupid crap they did with the Rachni aside), why would you want him to die?

It just felt like a cop-out. "Yeah you ran into the cave and fought a bunch of Reaper-ized Rachni and escaped with your life. Let's just forget about the fact that your mercs just died."

1. They are not mercs. Try playing the game again and PAY ATTENTION this time..

2. It is not a cop out. It is a very dramatic scene. You don't know if a "pure krogen" and your friend made it.. And out of the blue he did. I swear some of you can't even get your game facts right when you ****.

Sacrifice. Everyone must sacrifice.

It was spoiled for me, so the scene wasn't as glourious for me.
