The party is traveling down the road, they come across an old man in robes, pulling a small cart (riding, if horses are introduced) going in the same direction. Since they are moving faster than he is, they attempt to move around him. He veers his wagon to block them. They attempt to go around him on the other side, and he pushes the cart to cut them off again. Frustrated, someone asks the old man, what his problem is. The old man turns and points at them, and with a deep commanding voice, shouts, "You shall not pass!"

LPPrince isn't stuff like that going on between Isabela and Aveline in the banter in Legacy?

Not exactly as you mention it but the two have a mutual understanding and allthough you do not hear them laughing out loud they smile at each others "****y" talk in a way of "I love you too!".

I didn't play Legacy, so I can't comment.

But I mean legitimate laughter. Actual laughter.

Not just chuckles, giggles, and simple "haha's".

I mean legit gut busting laughter. Like falling on the floor, kicking your feet around, and just LOSING IT.

And if they stay on their feet, at least extremely obnoxious laughter. Good laughing. Happy laughing. Loud laughing.

Expression. Tons of expression. Going wide eyed, pointing at the victim of the joke, going quiet because they lost all the air in their lungs.

That kind of laughter.

Allright, get you there. Like the idea, but it would need some serious writing for the dialogue to pull of a thing like that off without people/players thinking that it would be laughing for laughing and not some kind of disrespect for the other companions involved. There's a big catch in there Image IPB.

Well, thats up to the writers. Quality writing with quality expressive emotion creates quality characterization.

Also, as I find this happens a lot between me and my eldest stepbrother-

Laughing so hard you'll lose your balance and have to lean on another person while almost dying from a lack of air.

That's why I liked your idea; have the same thing going with my youngest sister Image IPB.

Taking things way to far is often cause for funny. Especially if the guy is a pathetic

you trip a guy over, and he dedicates the rest of his life to hurting you.

guy1: Hey guess what?
guy2: what?
guy1:Chicken Butt
guy2: I'm not sure what that means......
guy1: It's a joke
guy2: Did you just think insulting me would be a brilliant idea? Do you know the mistake you have just made will be the greatest regret of your life?! I'm a Navy Seal, and I know guys that can find where you live, AND I WILL find out where you live. I'm going to find you and I'm going to make you suffer, the worst suffering you will ever feel. By the end you'll beg me to kill you. The last guy that tried to put a little "joke" on me is still apologizing for it to this day. Know what you have brought upon yourself. And know that I will be coming.

Or... and this one may be a bit more sensitive... how about a unique piece of equipment called The Shield of the Marauder? Who stood alone and perished against unbeatable odds in the hopes that he would save his enemy from experiencing a fate worse than death...?

I say have this really attractive stud (well-built, eyes that make you melt, the works) as a romancable character. The relationship eventually leads sex. The morning after you roll over to find... Emile de Launcet, complete with cheesy grin.
You know have a whole Nutty Professor thing going, instead of love potions it could even be something like shapeshifting.
It's not really goofy, really more sadistic. But the reactions would be priceless from everybody in and out of game.

Did you have a particular protagonist in mind for this or would you be in favor of equal-opportunity bait-and-switching with an appropriately cringe-worthy female NPC? Maybe as a special option at the brothel?

I was considering saying have Cullen would turn into Emile, but I couldn't think of a way to make it believable.
As for a cringe-worthy female counterpart, I can't really think a good one. A broodmother would be the worst, but not believable. Maybe Lady Helmi, but I would probably have to say hag Flemeth, not the sexy-grandma version.

(sorry about the quote tree)

That's why the brothel idea works. You don't need to have a credible reason for a gorgeous character to turn into a troll. All you need is to pay the 50 silvers and find a healer the next morning when you chew your arm off trying to escape from the beast you woke up with .

There is a reason why you don't get a lot of belly-laughs from characters in DA.

Well, there might be -another- reason, but on our end, at least, it's because it's actually surprisingly difficult to get a character to laugh in a 'realistic' way. Either it looks awkward and robotic, or it looks extremely contrived (slapping their knees, holding their belly, etc.) I don't think there are any scenes in DA2 where you actually -see- a character laugh from in front - when someone -does- laugh, we tend to hide it with camera cuts and the like.

I'd like to get some motion capture of someone laughing for future projects, though... where's my notebook...

You know where to find me.

But anyway, even if the motion capture isn't done, why not just the audio?

uhm just had that discussion with LLPrince. Very difficult indeed. When things like that happen they are mostly 'inside jokes' and nobody else gets them.

If a thing like that happens it has to be about something that most people can relate to. Do not mind me in that aspect; I have a very peculiar sense of humor Image IPB. (and so does my younger sister)

If you're seeing a reveal trailer, it's not real. We've yet to announce anything about our future projects other than, yes, IT IS POSSIBLE that they exist.

There's a 'reveal' trailer floating around that is a scene from the Witcher 2, however. That one's 100% fake.

And the comments are 100% hilarious.

Apparently Letho is a Qunari:

Well he is big, fast, to the point and has yellow eyes. Is it a possibility that he is a Qunari?

Letho is the Old God Baby:

i don't think that the big guy is morrigan's son because there's the  possibility that the warden chose to sacrifice him/herself instead of  going through the ritual

his looks like it has very good potential. I'm guessing their is a tie  to Isabella of some sort. She has very similar eyes to Morrigan, as do  almost all people from Rivain. Maybe this takes place there? There are  also qunari near there which would explain why the guy was so huge?  Maybe? The king was quite dark which really makes me think Antiva or  Rivain. Maybe the elf is the child of Isabella and Zevran?

Iorveth is a sexy elf, proof enough its not DA:

the elf is so sexy

Misplaced love:

My jaw dropped at this video... Bioware.. I think I'm in love with you.

Don't tell me they've changed the darkspawn.. AGAIN.

So long as they can get the characters laughing together instead of taking turns in a sort of bizarre round-robin snigger fest.. That's about as bad as crappy animations. ;)

Agreed. Characters should laugh in unison, or have that one person who takes a while to catch on trail a little after the rest.

I imagine laughing would just come across as very Uncanny Valley, despite being a nice idea. Not unlike Leliana trying to sing in DA:O.
