And I support the mighty morphing Rangers of Power.
I guess the humor also hinges on them updating the Hurlock's appearance from DA2 from appearing like Putties from Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers.
Because if they left them looking like the same Clownspawn, it would be pretty tragic instead of funny.

I do like the idea of it still being around though, that Leliana travels the world, doing the Divine's dirty work with a nug in her pack. She should definitely order one of the seekers to stay at camp and take care of it during missions.

I imagine laughing would just come across as very Uncanny Valley, despite being a nice idea. Not unlike Leliana trying to sing in DA:O.
I think it would also come across like laugh track in a sitcom.
That gives me an idea. Sitcom mode. Everytime your character makes a sarcastic observation or tells a joke a laugh track plays. When something sad happens you hear an entire audience say awww. When a well known character makes an appearance you get people cheering and clapping.

I wouldn't consider a joke every 30 minutes to be a particularly high rate of humor.
Given that some of my favourite "old school" games like BG2 (Lilarcor and Minsc; Edwina; etc) , and PST (Nordom and Morte... oh Morte... so much awesome) probably had more of it. PST maybe isn't as "serious" of a tone, but the party banter in particular helps a lot and I loved the sass between Alistair and Morrigan, and pretty much anything involving Isabela or Varric.
There was humor in PS:T but I thought it was a pretty serious game, overall. The themes are very mature.
I actually thought sarcastic Hawke (Lady Hawke in my case) was /really/ funny in a very mordant/flip way (which given what a punchin bag she is in the storyline was really appropriate.). The boneless women line and the wounded coast monologue stand out in particular. The VAing in DA2 was really top-notch, imo it was more consistently good than even the ME series, which is saying something.

That's an interesting choice. Care to elaborate?

I agree wholeheartedly that the game was very mature. But I still found it quite humourous in large part because of characters like Nordrom and Morte. The party banter just had me in stitches. I don't think the humour made the game a comedy or anything like that. It's still a very serious game, just with a large amount of comedic side notes (which I think is necessary in a game like that).

I agree that the VO was very, very well done. I tend to play a sarcastic, sassy type (probably because I am in real life) and some of the deliveries just had me in stitches. I liked Alistair for much the same reasons.

Why ghasts? It boils down to four reasons:
1) They are oddly cute (in a somewhat grotesque sort of way) and their antics are amusing. I wasn't the only one who thought so; check out the comments in this Youtube video.
2) They're capable fighters, so a tame ghast could aid you in battle, unlike Schmooples or Ser Pounce-a-lot.
3) They're intelligent enough to fashion crude weapons and tools, so it's likely possible to have the same kind of interactions with a ghast as you could with a mabari. There's potential comedic gold to be had from a horrible little monster companion — think Lilo and Stitch.
4) They represent a bit of lore that hasn't been explored yet. Even if they are just beasts, I think their ability to use magic is interesting.

Hm now that I think about it, most of the laughs in DA2 were just chuckles. I think Anders had a few cute laughs when picking a humorous or flirty response, which really fit in with him, and I think partly relieves the "DAA Anders is dead!" line of thought.John Epler wrote...
There is a reason why you don't get a lot of belly-laughs from characters in DA.
Well, there might be -another- reason, but on our end, at least, it's because it's actually surprisingly difficult to get a character to laugh in a 'realistic' way. Either it looks awkward and robotic, or it looks extremely contrived (slapping their knees, holding their belly, etc.) I don't think there are any scenes in DA2 where you actually -see- a character laugh from in front - when someone -does- laugh, we tend to hide it with camera cuts and the like.
I'd like to get some motion capture of someone laughing for future projects, though... where's my notebook...
Oh, and whoever was responsible for the adorable response from Fenris after the first flirt where he does an embarrassed laugh and cough gets major points from me.

If your character hits the third ale, he/she starts to wobble. Drinking the forth ale will cause your charcter to start speaking in strange dialgoue which your companions may comment on if there in the party.
Player: "Hey! Hey you!"
Companion: "I have a name"
Player: That, your funny, your name is name <blech>
By the time you hit the fifth ale, your stats start to have an effect, -1 point to all your attributes and will continue if you chose to keep drinking. The debuff will wear off in about two mintues. Of course you could go outside and fight thugs, stumbiling all over, hitting everything but the thugs.
During combat
Companion: What was our leader thinking to fight thugs while there drunk!

Not that I wouldn't ever dream of eating Schmooples. I bear no love for that noisy nug, but it makes my lovely Leliana happy.

The only person I remember laughing in DA2 (and I mean laughing, not just chuckling) was Flemeth.

Oooh, sorry I missed it or I would have just quoted you and said "YES!" haha
I'd like to find him in a dungeon level of the Orlais Circle or Grand Cathedral. He is, after all, a very powerful apostate. I can see him being completely unconcerned about his situation and just driving the Templars crazy by making them talk in circles.
