DnD rules? For one who has played DA and has played DnD since 1980 I have to say that the rules systems are completely different. Sounds like another troll to me.

I respect your celibacy and admit I must've mistaken.

However, the point still stands, level ups at times are useless. Atleast for warrior class. Many times I had to choose stuff I didn't care for. Only because a higher level skill thingie of the same line would seem useful. Other than that, I see no reason to select stuff like "Taunt".

Oh I get it now, D&D Nerds have no lives, and therefore no sex lives. I was wondering the relevance of you stating you had a sex life.

Are you three? Seriously.

Like there aren't sub-optimal choices you're forced to make in Fallout or Oblivion or any nearly other RPG to get to the good stuff.

Stop trolling and posting useless ignorance just for attention.

Also stop complaining that your Mage who you've statted so that all their attribute points are in Willpower and Magic get dropped in one hit.

Obvious Troll is Obvious.

I thought that part of the troll was pretty obvious.  Along with the bench pressing comment.  I guess it shows that subtlety is subjective.

This game is not similar at all to any version of D&D that I know.
...
oh, wait, there are fantasy elements and no guns?  Well, you got me there.

I can't help it if some enemies do 150 damage in one hit. It kills even the warriors in few hits.

Then I suggest you start playing on easy because you do not seem to comprehend tactics.

Sounds like you need to really use pause some more, set the AI tactics a bit better, and/or have a more rounded party. With a damager, a crowd controller, a healer, and a tank specced for and controlled in those tactical roles, very little should stand a chance against you. What classes do you have in your party?

I find that very hard to believe; almost to the point where it's absurd and I’d claim it was a lie.

I've watched my girlfriend play Dragon Age from start to finish on normal, and sure she died in quite a few places, but she's never been in a state where I had to step in and help her. This is the first game she's been interested in, and the first video game she's seriously played.

I question your credibility. If you are seriously having issues on easy, I truly feel bad for you.

3 warriors and a mage. Finished the game already, though.

When escaping Howe's manor there was a woman who constantly hit with 150 damage and had 100 allies with bows in the room.

If you'd played the game, which you clearly have, then you'd understand (trying to avoid spoilers here) that particular encounter is designed for you to lose. Yes, it is possible by exploiting game mechanics and line of sight to win, but you’re clearly not meant to (else you skip an interesting portion of the game).

You could also save the point until you can use it. That way you can get 2 level 4 skills (when you get to that level) instead of just taking a level 1 that you really don't want.

I was a little frustrated with this point of the game, and tried to find the "meant" way to avoid it after quickly losing the battle the first time, then I tried the battle a few more times (maybe 3) each time REALLY improving my tactics, until the last time I tried I had it down to Alistair and said Big Bad, and got the Big Bad down to almost KO before Alistair finally fell - and I was so exhausted and exhilerated at the fight that I didn't reload quick enough and saw there was story past that point, and then REALIZED I was probably meant to lose the battle.

Oh. Well I beat them.

She had a nice sword, too.

I guess I'm too good for the game then, eh. :)

With 3 warriors, the taunt skill probably is a waste of skillpoint investment in at least one of those 3.

Easiest way to play is to have just the one character designated to tank, with maybe a second that can step in and soak some damage for some encounters or if things go FUBAR. It's neater to manage the aggro that way and makes the other characters more able to be co-ordinated simpler (damaging tank's enemy, healing the tank, and controlling the additional enemies). But if you've completed it already you might be going for a kind of experimental party to try it out (3 warriors is unconventional ;) ) - in which case, you can probably expect it to be trickier to play and less easy to allocate skillpoints.

Note that in order to live with himself for posting to an RPG forum about a RPG game, the OP had to qualify his posting several times, noting that:

1. D&D and rpg players are "kids"
2. Some nerd told him about D&D
3. He is not a nerd - In fact, he is big and strong (he even lifted his shirt and gritted his teeth in a menacing manner as he typed that)
4. Finally, he remembered to close with standard_cliche_01 - that he has sex, yet D&D players do not

4 outta 4

No no he did not lift it but made a small incision at the top and then proceeded to tear said shirt while gritting teeth in a menacing manner

While this game isn't based on D&D rules, there are many similarities. The reason is because the idea is for a game structure (pnp or video) to capture real life dynamics. D&D uses a Fortitude saving throw. DA:O uses a physical resistance check, etc. In fact, you'll find many similarities between any 2 RPGs compared.

And for the OP; you're stereotypical thought process and sheer ignorance leaves me feeling pity. Not all D&D players are greasy little geeks who dwell in their parents basement, choosing game

time and gaming conventions over seeking courtship with the female species.

I've played D&D for 25 years and I can assure that my sex life is a very fullfiled one.

My name is Emloch and I can assure you that I'm more than happy to say that my sex life is great. I've had sex with Morrigan, Leliana and atleast 6 harlots in Denirim.

Wow, I can't believe so many people fall for the "no sex life" troll tactic.

Pro-tip: don't respond to it, because when you do, you're bragging on the internet about how much sex you have, which is even worse than the person doing the trolling in the first place.

Now carry on. :wizard:

I'd try bench pressing less weight. Bench pressing too much weight releases hormones into the blood that can inhibit your ability to comprehend RPGs, Star Trek, Dwarf Fortress, text, etc. by clogging the nerd receptors in brain cells with Miller Light molecules. It may also increase the frequency of the urge to chest bump and refer to your friends as "bro". There are drugs one can take to counteract these effects, but the easiest way is to simply remove a little bit of weight off the bar bell.

Also, if you're not catching all kinds of strange by waving around a mint-condition copy of the original Dungeon Master's Guide you must be going to the wrong parties. The ladies just go nuts for that stuff.
