I do, it was a joke and in ME1 Shepard rescued Liara.

Shepard rescued every female squadmate in ME1 (and Tali in ME2 again...twice)

I cant stand the whole damsel in distress thing either, my nephew actually compared Liara to Lois Lane only Liara is more annoying and whiny.

Do you even know what a "damsel in distress" is? Liara is not one in ME2 or ME3, not even close to one (Liara saved Shepard life...and not the other way around).

She plays the damsel in distress act as in that she's mentialy week, moans alot, and craves the protagonists attention ALL the time.

I know still Liara, in my opinion was a whiny brat. Also a terrible Shadow Broker.

Garrus talks about Palaven and all the People who died there while being on Menae. Later on the Normandy he's trying to contact his Family on Palaven, finally does it, and advises Victus to give Palaven up.

(emphasis in quote mine)

I know this was posted on page 2 of the thread and is kind of an afterthought regarding the topic as a whole, but I couldn't help but notice this. In my playthroughs, Garrus tells Victus to cease all offensive operations against the Reapers; you're saying he told Victus to give up Palaven. I'm assuming this change in event depends on how Paragon/Renegade you've influenced Garrus over the course of the series? That's pretty interesting to see a difference in something I thought didn't change, if it's true.

That just proves how stuck up she is...

It proves she's no different than Humans and their "it won't happen to me" attitude (such as driving and texting -- wars going on overseas -- someone else's planet invaded). If she's "stuck up", all races (including Humans) are equally "stuck up".

She's stuck up because she was so shocked about how it was happening on her home world, when she'd already been there to see it happeneing to the turians, the humans, the salarians, and the krogans.

If she hadn't have been there to see it, i would have understood her little tantrum.

People see car wrecks all of the time. People know people who were in accidents because of texting. We see the horrors of war on our own planet, just across the water, on our own soil. And yet, we still have the "it won't happen to us" attitude until it happens to us. A fire happens next door and we think that we're so careful that it won't happen to us.

Turians didn't care until it was happening to them. Salarians didn't care until the military decided to go all in without their politicians. Even if the politicians throw in their lot, they were doing it only as a favor. Sur'kesh was hit by Cerberus. The only explicit thing we know about the Salarians is that the Reapers were threatening their borders.

If the Turians were hit, would a Human that witnessed it and then returned to their home that was supposed to be safe flip out before their home was hit?

So cryingwhen your home world falls is a bad thing? And she only cryed once before.

She is rather frail for a Shadow Broker. (She's also rather fail for a Shadow Broker IMHO.) After she guns down her pursuers, she turns around and begins to sob about how it might all be futile before leaving Mars.

The only other time I recall her being stubborn was when she was cold towards the fact her father was just up the stairs watching her as a spy for the Asari. She cratered rather quickly, though.

She tries to impress Shepard with a "gift" regarding some recording where she's decided he's SO important to be recorded "in the stars". I think "who" isn't as important as the events themselves.

Still, I think there's nothing wrong with her reaction to seeing her own home that had been "safe" going down in flames. It hits home when it's your home.

Every character has their vocal critics. Liara fans seem the most sensative about it though.

No, it's because Liara (and Ashley/Kaiden) haters are the most vocal and Liara fans respond to what we often see as a pointless, indirect attack on her. If it's just your opinion that you dislike her you don't need to shove it in everyone's face and argue that it is the only opinion of any worth.

If the arguments are not against the character but the 'plot armour' or the 'favouritism' then argue with BW, not the fans - it is not us who decided to give her (arguably) more content.

Liara gets more crap and usualy it is for stupid reasons like the fact she can't be killed in any of the games.  Who cares if she can't be killed, people can easily (for the most part) prevent their favorite squadmate from being killed

She just needs to soldier on man. She's not dead, she gets to fight another day. Which is more than most of the population of Thessia can say.

She's NOT a soldier though

First of all, that's nonsense. But, even if that was true, it wouldn't make her a damsel in distress.

I don't fault Liara for being depressed. It's annoying at first, but then you realize it's human nature. Deep down, she always hoped that it wouldn't happen to her people. And it's obvious that she's more vulnerable to the reality of the Reaper attacks than Garrus or Shepard.

The Asari, on the other hand... having technology that they could've shared with the other races but didn't because it would decrease their superiority? Something that knew about the Reapers, the Crucible, the true nature of the Citadel, and the Catalyst, but kept this information hidden for thousands of years? And now Thessia burns while the Asari scratch their heads, wondering why it's happening to them.

Maybe they shouldn't have been this guy:

EDI/Joker/Anderson/Shepard

Wait? You don't agree with Shepard on that list? Same reasoning though.

Technically Shepard did die at the start of ME2 , Anderson dies at the end as does EDI, if you choose destroy and as for Joker, he is not a squadmate so hes not on the list.

Why do you care?  If you know what you are doing you can keep almost you can keep anyone you want to alive (exceptions being Thane and Legion)

Liara dies too if you have a low EMS.

And Shepard dying in ME2 is hardly fair! S/he came back after all...

Can't Liara die at the end if your EMS is below a certain threshold?

I don't count that as Liara should have been able to be killed before that maybe in LTSB, and Shepard does count as like or not, Shepard died in ME2. And alot of my friends and family agree with me, I'm just bringing it up to see what you all think.

Liara's whining did bug me, but I agree with some others in that yeah she's a different character so she's handing the situation differently to everyone else, which is pretty normal.
