Wow, never knew people were judging me based on my guns and stuff suddenly I feel inadequate... Wait no I don't.

Some folks just have to make up for issues elsewhere by stroking their e-peen.

This assumes Silver or Gold PUG. Bronze, I will literally play with any team, no matter how bad.

Step 1- Vanguard Check
If there are any Human Vanguards that I do not know, I bail. If there are any Krogan, Drell, or Asari Adepts below an appropriate level (14 Silver, 18 Gold, less than that for a Krogan), I also bail. If the Vanguard is not the host and the rest of the team has flaws, I bail. If there is more than one Vanguard, I bail.

Step 2- Gear Check
If I see adepts or sentinals carrying around sniper rifles and claymores (or both at once), I cry inside a little and bail if the rest of the team has flaws. If the only weapon a soldier is carrying an Avenger I, I pretty much also get ready to leave. If anyone is so new that they do not have mods on their guns, that is also a red flag. If I see an Infiltrator with one gun and its sporting a mele mod, yeah its time to look for another group.

Step 3- Level Check
One person leveling up a class I can deal with. If they have a descent N7 (indicating experience) and are playing a gun oriented class, I can live with single digit levels, at least in Silver. Two such people is a ride on the Failtrain that I would rather pass on. People playing power dependant classes or with weaker gear need to be closer to level cap, especially if there is a likelyhood of facing grenade based opposition. The only exception for me would be a Salarian, who at level one with nothing but Decoy are better than a lot of classes at level 20.

Step 4- class Check
If the group has a strong concentration of one class and one of my guys can better complement it, I change to fit better. If the group is composed entirely of suboptimal classes (human Adepts and Soldiers, Battarian Sentinals, Quarian anything), then I exit the room. If its gold and there is not at least one Infiltrator or someone with Decoy, then the rest of the group better have the kind of class layout needed to fight on the move. Silver, the makeup just has to be good enough for people to work in pairs.

Step 5- Microphone Check
If the people talking sound so young that they do not have two pubes to rub together, then I bail. If someone has thug music playing in the background the entire time, I plan on bailing after seeing how one round goes. If they are singing along with it the entire time, I leave immediately. Yes this has happened several times. If any of the people sound like they care more about score than winning the round, I consider that person a weak point no matter what the other factors are. The moment someone starts talking about cheating, I am out of there instantly. If I have to explain to the only other biotic in the group how explosions work, I might give them one round to catch on. If the room is mostly adults who are not taking things too seriously, I will overlook a lot of other flaws in the team.

Basically, I look for red flags and if I see two in a PUG I move on right away. No point in wasting everyone's time on what is going to be certain failure. The only singular flag that gets me to jump are Human Vanguards, Cheaters, and guys who sing along with their rap music the entire time we are playing.

I hear you on the "spells" comment. However it is essentially the same thing.

Only on gold, only with low level characters. Everyone else gets a chance until AFTER I've played a round with them.

N7 rank, character level, then weapons. Pass these 3 tests and your in. Fail, and I tell my friends to give you the boot.

On bronze I don't bother checking anything.

For silver the most important things for me are level and weapons. The only time I leave is if the three other players have poor choices for their classes, like a claymore adept. If at least one other player seems like they know what they're doing then I stick around; I'm very confident that I can win on silver.

For gold I'm not sure. I only play as my geth or human engineer and tend to play with a friend so I don't have to worry about getting votekicked and whatnot. If I do join a group with 2 other biotics I'll switch to a biotic class, but that's really it.

I have to say that I think the mod check is going a little too far unless it's Gold.  On silver and bronze weapon mods are not really needed at all if it's a competent player using a decent weapon.  However, I did see a guy the other night sporting a GPS with a Pistol Rail Amp.  I thought that was an interesting combination......

I play on Bronze, even with my level 20's, to avoid any of this.

The only time I see kick votes is when someone takes over 5 minutes to ready up.

Less than level 18 and you're getting a vote from me. I'm not risking my equipment on you swearing that you're good. The N7 rating is a moot point. That just shows how many times they've promoted. Nothing to do with how well they play. an N7 level 20 might have been playing from day 1 and be super elite, just doesn't like limiting his/her options and starting over

Bronze, anything goes of course.

Silver, if N7 is under 60 AND player character under level 10 AND crazy loadout, kick.

Gold, if N7 is under 60+character not level 20+not good loadout, kick. If N7 under 200+character under level 10, kick. If human vanguard joining a match instead of hosting, kick.

I believe about 80% of people with N7 under 100 trying gold, end up being disasters. You are doing newbies a FAVOR by kicking them out of gold games. Today I played a gold game where I rerzzed a N7 57 level 20 human engineer somewhere between 45-60 times. Most people aren't that bad, but you'd be surprised just how crazy some newbies can get.

^ mismatch equipment -  That happened to me.  I applied equipment, then changed my class due to lobby make-up and no longer had a pistol equiped, its not that hard to forget.

You can't recognize a leaver.

The most accurate method is to check if it's your friend or not. :D

I am talking about people who use a pistol and do not even have the extended clip or barrel damage slotted.  The choice to use one game equipment is entirely at the discression of the player, in my view.  There is no excuse for not having something in each of the two weapon mod slots, however.

On bronze (when leveling up a promoted character) I don't care what people bring as long as they ready.

On silver I kick anyone lower than level 10. Either you promoted the character (which was your choice) or you are new, either way don't waste other people's time when you could do a couple bronze's and have more points to spend. If that concept baffles you...chances are you too selfish to be a good team player.

The only other thing I will kick for is having no mods equipped on your gun when your N7 is over a 100. Please buy something other than spectre packs...

On gold, I usually kick anyone who isn't 20. The lack of mods issue applies here as well, but to everyone. Also, if you use no consumables I probably won't bring you along if I am playing with friends...it is a bad sign.

Oh, and I kick drell adepts. Sorry, but I like having my sound on.

Just  aheads up I buy every pack there is I save for a vetran pack and spend 15k credits on recruit and can still end up with no mods or medigel.

Im currently N7 97 its not the players choice to not get certain items you know blame the game not the player.

Don't really care on bronze, after all that's where we go to level up our chars or test weird weapon loadouts.

On silver, I used to look at N7 levels, then I realized we could 3 or 2 man it at worst and stopped worrying about that. I look at weapon loadouts and other char levels. I'll leave if there are low level power spammers or low level weapon chars without decent weapons.

Its funny I joined a team of 3 in gold they all work as a team of 4 but one of their mates couldn't play. So I jumped in on a random search and all they said was "Cool we have an adept" and thats it.

Nothing about weapons or mods just a comment on my character and they where more than happy to teach me how to play Gold FBW.
I even said to them multiple times I would cause more damage shoot primes with paper than any weapon I have right now (I was using the geth SMG) but my assault rifle was fairly good.

I only ever kick people if they are idle or I leave  if somebody dies multiple times during a match then ok I won't waste my time reviving them. I will however keep an eye on the guy to help him survive.

For example some guy stood in the middle of the Satalite dish map on the ground and got slaughted 3 times by phantoms at the beginning of the waves. So the 4th wave I watched for phantoms from up top and was able to protect him.

A bad player can always improve the experience rather than worsen it.

Everybody is a  noob their 1st time at trying something. You where a noob once, if you want experience players teach them how to play instead of kicking them.

Pre-Match Ritual for Gold:

Step 1: Look at N7 level...

under 120 - boot
120 or over - continue with analysis

Step 2 - Look at character and character level

under 15 - boot
15 and over - continue with analysis

Step 3 - others players weign in

if two other people vote to boot - you get the boot
if they are still deciding - continue analysis

Step 4 - look at character build

I'm not familiar with it - boot (I don't care if it works or doesnt work, if its a wacky build like an adept with a sniper, you are getting the boot)
familiar with it - i ready up
