- low level non-ultra-rare weapon holders = pretenders for being kicked. [especially with high N7 rating] Why? If they are successful players, they should have played enough gold, and hence get enough cash to get all lvl10's by this time (I don't talk about ultra-rares, which could be just a matter of bad luck.
- by the same reason, any <5 Resurgence gun is the same. (they were absolutely trivial to get to lvl 10 during first Resurgence week)
- weapon choice after that. If they get two heavy weapons and play biotic then chances that they are horrible are very high. Soldiers with SMGs go under the same category.
- after that if I have doubts, (and most of times before voting kick) I just ask something. Very politely, never with criticism, like: "Hi, <name>, is your stasis warping or shield-recharging?" "Hi, do you have a salarian?" [infiltrator, when they join as human] "Hi, just courious: what level is your Mantis?" [when I see someone with Widow 1]. My friends are witnesses that it's always polite, but wonder what? 80% of times people just leave after the question. That's surprising, but I feed good that I don't have to kick them. Sometimes they don't answer. Well, not everyone can afford a $5 headset. Or not everyone can speak. If I was asking thinking that he's bad, and he doesn't answer, I vote kick. If they answer something stupid, I vote kick. ... The purpose of the question itself is not to figure out anything specific, but to get an idea if a person you gotta play with has an idea of what he's going to do and WHY does he do that. Say, they can state "I have mantis 10, but widow [their 1] is a better rifle" This simply is not true. Kick. Or they say "I've got Mantis 10, and it does slightly more per-shot damage, but my Javelin 1 has night vision scope installed, so with armor penetration and barrel mods it's good to play against cerberus, and similar against others". Fair enough. They at least made a decision based on what they knew. Like some adepts get SMG to their pistol, because they think that ULM mod for SMG really makes their Hornet weightless. Fair enough. It's wrong, but they know what they do, even when it's wrong. A good indication for a good player, even if they are of a low lvl.
- For low lvl guys dependant on skills I ask which skills do they have topped off. Say, asari adept with stasis and pull topped off could be quite useless, unless you have someone else to detonate it. If [justicar] her Reave is lvl3 only, it leads to weaker detonations. No good.
- Finally, just look at how team sets up. Single justicar in a group of tech-bursting guys won't be able to detonate anything, and eventually be useless. (bug with stacking detonations/tech bursts). Ideally, people should understand it on their own. If not - that's a kick vote.
People with microphones are always more enjoyable to play with. Sometimes even when they are horrible players. Some players will look Ok before start (AA with Carnifex X), but they will end up only shooting their gun, and you won't hear an explosion until wave 10. They will also be dead most of the time, and you will spend most of your time just walking around to get their corpse out of trouble. You can't predict everything. So, take it as an additional challenge of the game. Like playing gold solo, there is also a harder difficulty level named "playing with 3 random guys". Sometimes it'll be easy. Sometimes it's a Hell on Tuchanka. Can you survive it? When you feel like a challenge - get 3 randoms and go ahead!
What is your GT? I feel like putting you on my Ignore List. If you play on PS3/PC, even better.
This but I I'd like to lower your list to if he plays PC even better.
