- low level non-ultra-rare weapon holders = pretenders for being kicked. [especially with high N7 rating] Why? If they are successful players, they should have played enough gold, and hence get enough cash to get all lvl10's by this time (I don't talk about ultra-rares, which could be just a matter of bad luck.
- by the same reason, any <5 Resurgence gun is the same. (they were absolutely trivial to get to lvl 10 during first Resurgence week)
- weapon choice after that. If they get two heavy weapons and play biotic then chances that they are horrible are very high. Soldiers with SMGs go under the same category.
- after that if I have doubts, (and most of times before voting kick) I just ask something. Very politely, never with criticism, like: "Hi, <name>, is your stasis warping or shield-recharging?" "Hi, do you have a salarian?" [infiltrator, when they join as human] "Hi, just courious: what level is your Mantis?" [when I see someone with Widow 1]. My friends are witnesses that it's always polite, but wonder what? 80% of times people just leave after the question. That's surprising, but I feed good that I don't have to kick them. Sometimes they don't answer. Well, not everyone can afford a $5 headset. Or not everyone can speak. If I was asking thinking that he's bad, and he doesn't answer, I vote kick. If they answer something stupid, I vote kick. ... The purpose of the question itself is not to figure out anything specific, but to get an idea if a person you gotta play with has an idea of what he's going to do and WHY does he do that. Say, they can state "I have mantis 10, but widow [their 1] is a better rifle" This simply is not true. Kick. Or they say "I've got Mantis 10, and it does slightly more per-shot damage, but my Javelin 1 has night vision scope installed, so with armor penetration and barrel mods it's good to play against cerberus, and similar against others". Fair enough. They at least made a decision based on what they knew. Like some adepts get SMG to their pistol, because they think that ULM mod for SMG really makes their Hornet weightless. Fair enough. It's wrong, but they know what they do, even when it's wrong. A good indication for a good player, even if they are of a low lvl.
- For low lvl guys dependant on skills I ask which skills do they have topped off. Say, asari adept with stasis and pull topped off could be quite useless, unless you have someone else to detonate it. If [justicar] her Reave is lvl3 only, it leads to weaker detonations. No good.
- Finally, just look at how team sets up. Single justicar in a group of tech-bursting guys won't be able to detonate anything, and eventually be useless. (bug with stacking detonations/tech bursts). Ideally, people should understand it on their own. If not - that's a kick vote.

People with microphones are always more enjoyable to play with. Sometimes even when they are horrible players. Some players will look Ok before start (AA with Carnifex X), but they will end up only shooting their gun, and you won't hear an explosion until wave 10. They will also be dead most of the time, and you will spend most of your time just walking around to get their corpse out of trouble. You can't predict everything. So, take it as an additional challenge of the game. Like playing gold solo, there is also a harder difficulty level named "playing with 3 random guys". Sometimes it'll be easy. Sometimes it's a Hell on Tuchanka. Can you survive it? When you feel like a challenge - get 3 randoms and go ahead!

What is your GT? I feel like putting you on my Ignore List. If you play on PS3/PC, even better.

This but I I'd like to lower your list to if he plays PC even better. :D

I never kick if I play silver though. bring on your level 1's, I don't care. Gold is a different story, stick to silver if you don't have a clue what you're doing.

And what if I have a clue what am I doing? Are you still gonna kick me? Because you can't know until the match has started.

Vast majority of the time I can tell if someone's going to be an asset or a burden by looking at their class and loadout. I've yet to see a guy with a stupid looking combo of class and weapons do well in any of my gold games with randoms.

Not saying it's impossible to do good or be an asset with the silly loadout, it is if you're a good player. That being said the ones with wierd setups i give a chance usually end up doing terrible and proving that they were using it because they are clueless about to set up an effective class loadout.

They can play however they want but I don't want to play gold with them because it's usually a waste of time.

How about not getting any?

I only have around 4 mods for my weapons (In total) and I have played from day 1. The game gives me everything but weapons and mods so stop assuming.

Then you really need to start buying Recruit and Veteran packs.  For someone who's been playing since day 1 you should have all the mods at least at level 3 by now.  I don't kick, for any reason, but you are doing yourself a diservice.

Until 2 weeks ago I never bought anything recruit. Now I buy vetran packs and recruit packs I save up for vet ones and have 15k left for recruit so thats 3 packs.

Its not my fault if I don't get any. The game rarely gave me any new characters until 2 weeks ago when I got my 1st non human character and now they are rolling in. I have maybe 4 of each weapon type and 4-5 mods in total.

I would be more than happy to have more mods and weapons to pick from trust me, but im doing my best with what I get. I have like 1 ammo power left and a bunch of weapon upgrades I can't use because I don't use those weapons often enough or at all.

Yeah it is.  The basic pack you get for buying the game for free includes at least one weapon mod, by default.  If you seriously do not have even basic mods then you are dragging everyone else down in Silver+.  Go play Bronze and spam recruit packs for a day and you will notice a large improvement.

Don't have any, but I only do bronze and have started to slowly dabble in silver. I'm a N7 of close to 400, but I don't want to get involved with all the kicking and "elitist" attitudes that sometimes occur. I'm not perfect at the game, but I do o.k. I don't care what level people are at, if they are 1 to 1000+ i'll play a match with them. I guarantee though, if you decide to farm some matches and only hide out looking to get credits, then next match we won't be playing together.

I only bother to kick players that sit around in the lobby when everyone else is ready (or the N7 Lvl 1s who, like me, didn't realize the game doesn't default to bronze difficulty on the first play).

I do leave lobbies I have no interest in playing.

and how have you determined this? It certainly shows a big difference in cooldown times on guns on my system.

I was just in a Silver match with an N7 8. As if that wasn't bad enough, the person had a level 8 human Vanguard. I wasn't really paying attention when I went into the match, I guess. But we failed the first one because one player left, I had been experimenting with weapon loadouts and forgot to change my weapon back, and this Vanguard... well...

Anyway we get back to the lobby and I realize what this person is (N7, class, character level) and what weapons he was carrying. So yeah, that's what does it for me.

It does on the weapon screen, but if you go to your powers you'll see that it doesn't.  Just test it yourself - Equip one of the heavier SMG's and note the cooldown.  Then add ULM to get it to +200 and notice the cooldown.  It doesn't work.

Equip ULM on an SMG, then go into the Powers screen, look at the cooldown of a power and remember it; then remove the mod, go back to the Power screen and look at the cooldown time again.

When I run that experiment the cooldown times are identical for every SMG except for the Geth SMG, which seems to actually benefit from it by luck or chance or because it was programmed correctly.

The Weapon screen will of course show a different percentage for cooldown bonus, but this does not appear to translate into a difference in cooldowns as listed under the Powers screen.

I tend to check players weapon load outs vs the class they play for gold matches only if they look dodgy then I leave games on bronze or silver i don't care thats the place to test crazy load outs IMHO

I look at the weapons

If they are using low level bronze weapons on silver, I kick them. Same goes for if they are below level 10. On gold, if someone is below 18 I kick without looking at weapons. If they are over 18, weapon rule applies here.

Since I play Bronze, Silver and FBW Gold farms I have none. Let the people play the game the way they want ffs.

Considering most of of us would rather have a stress free group and not want to worry about some scrub who keeps dying over and over on gold due to being a low level character and having terrible weapons.

I try not to use the kick button, but when I see a human vanguard, I honestly tend to leave the lobby because I've had way too many bad experiences. I don't kick because they want to play the game, but I just leave because it's not enjoyable for me.

I tend to draw my conclusions at the end of a match, rather at the beginning. That said, when I see an adept with a shotgun and a sniper rifle... you know, derp.

Seriously, if you've been playing from day one and don't have ALL of your non-n7 weapons and ALL mods maxed to X, you.are.doing.it.wrong.

I don't care too much, though when I'm hosting a Gold game, and someone level 9 with N7 level 9 joins with Avenger III and Katana II, then I'm a bit weary and kick them out instead. I mean, that's just ridiculous.

Otherwise, I don't look much, especially on Silver.

Apart from that the maximum level for mods is V, that's just ridiculous, considering I don't have all the time in the world to spend it in ME3, grinding for gears.

You don't have to grind. Recruit and Vet packs will get most of them maxed but some people only buy spectre packs while only playing bronze and silver. Its no wonder some people don't have things maxed, because they are doing it wrong.

I usually don't kick unless they are taking a long long time in the lobby. Why is it that the leaders seem to be notorious for this?

I hate being kicked, so I don't do it normally do it to others, unless they are really obnoxious during the game (talking constantly about stupid crap or getting onto others for their lack of ability during the game annoys me to no end)

i'm starting to care less about silver, since i can almost solo it and i like the increased challenge of a shaky group- although in the interest of completion, i'm trying to learn to leave the bodies alone if it's not safe to rez, it's still my instinct to always rush straight to them.

when i do want to evaluate, i don't think there's any way that actually is always successful. i see a lot of people around my n7 with level 1 weapons, which is really weird to me, since almost all of my golds are 10. so, i think weapon rank is a better indicator, but again, even with 10s they might just be spending lots of money, grinding endless bronzes, or experienced but still not very good.

the best indicator of inexperience in my opinion in a recoil mod on the geth rifle- that's obviously useless- but i would never have known about the light materials bug, or not to put shredder on the gps, unless i read the forums. so, crazy loadouts don't necessarily mean the person is bad. some things they might legitimately not know- they might even know something you don't or be good enough to get away with experimenting.

no mods at all looks bad though, i must say.

I'm not an elitist, I'm just picky.

I may enter and exit 10 different lobbies before I settle on one I like.
