Anyone else tired of these ridiculous killing moves?

READ THIS FIRST: I dont have problems with phantoms, i have problems with these killing moves. Why are the AI allowed to perform something, that puts your character in a state of mindlessness and just allows the enemy to kill him? I did not charge this phantom mindlessely. She was already focused on another player, which i tried to help. After i charged her (which staggered her) i immediately backed away, and when im halfways to performing a nova, my character just stops and lets the phantom gut him.


I just charged an unshielded phantom, and im about to do a nova blast on her and suddenly when my character is in the air to drop down and make the blast, he just stops and gets that toothpick of a sword right in the chest. NOTE that i charged her to help another teammate get rid of her, so i used teamwork. It would be nice if people would support me in this, there has already been another player who made a thread about this. Calling this "adding to the difficulty" is just stupid. Dont get me wrong, i like this game, but there are some things i think they could improve. This ONE THING is a start at least....


And please, dont give me any smartass replies on why i should not go into close combat with a phantom. I played a VANGUARD, in case you dont know thats the class thats made for UP CLOSE AND PERSONAL combat. Having a firefight with a phantom is pretty much useless anyway............

It definitely sucks when the game randomly decides that Charging the Phantom won't stagger her. Usually you're pretty screwed at that point.

Its not that i have problems with banshees, its that im really being bothered by these killing moves. Its not like im charging up to a brute, banshee, phantom or whatever it is and just asks them to pick me up, im always careful with them.

No, they give me endless entertainment when team mates get dragged across the map and they die. They also create threads like this, which make me laugh.

Phantoms don't use their impale maneuver unless they've recently hit somebody with their slash combo. If your friend got slashed, charging was a poor decision.

The reason she didn't stagger is because she probably had her shield gauntlet up.

She did stagger when i charged her.

Still, though, once a Phantom lands her spinning slash, she's got a few seconds window to use her one-hit-kill. If you see your friend get cut, the only real way to help them is to not charge.

Host when playing a vanguard and don't charge banshees... problem solved.

Its ok, no one seems to give a damn anyway. Its like THEY LIKE GETTING SOMETHING SHUVED INTO THEM AND WANT IT TO STAY THAT WAY. Well my friend did not get slashed, but she propably did a slash.

I did host that match. And i NEVER charge banshees. It bugs me that they can just perform their killing moves, and your character just stares at them.

By Batarian sentinel eats Phantoms for breakfast. Submission net -> heavy melee -> continue melee/or mercy gunshot

I feel like killing moves involve some sort of instantaneous indoctrination.

Like my character just stops what he's doing in front of phantoms and lets her rape him. It's ridiculous, especially when she's one shot from death and in that time he's just standing there like a retard he could be retreating or getting shots off.

It's like auto stasis. I hate it.

1. Just because you're a vanguard doesn't indicate auto charging.

2. Every class has an enemy designed to counter their main damage dealing mechanic and you just publicly failed Vanguard 101.

3. Lag is something you're going to have to adjust for every single new match unless you are the host.

Phantoms are fine, in my opinion.

It's when I get grabbed by a Banshee while she's at the top of a flight of stairs and I'm at the bottom that I keep getting pissed. Has happened three or four times now - actively running back (not backwards), only to be grabbed and brought up to the top of the stairs again.

I can understand some host lag, but that's ridiculous.

My favorite is when a krogan tries to charge the phantom and it looks like he just runs right into the sword. Then he goes, Aaaaaw... I'm out.

Killing moves add some depth to combat, I appreciate the fear they inspire, specially when playing kroguard. A little tension is ok, just don't try to out smart the insta kills, just avoid em all together.

Also in the case of phantoms, make sure they aren't in the middle of a stagger animation when you charge, otherwise your charge will end right as they recover and out comes the toothpick blade. I generally leave phantoms for other teammates when Kroguarding, unless I'm alone in which case they are a piece of cake to take down. The risk is when someone tries to help a guy Biotic Charging and the key stagger messes up.

There is one thing that should be changed on Phantoms ... they should only be able to stab a target the previously hit mith their slash ...

It would make sense that the can stab someone the just hit, like they have an advantage over their target now, but not someone who just charged into their face ...

The same should be true for the other kill moves ... well except banshes ... who can drag you to the other side of the map anyways =(

Well you have to admit, its a little bit ridiculous when a phantom stabs a krogan with their *cough* swords.

hehe true, but then again phantoms have a lot of ridiculousness associated with them.

Banshees DO NOT have to melee before instant killing you. I have no idea why the bioware guy said that when it is so obviously wrong.
