sorry im late to this party, someone linked me here, im a noob who really wants to try her hand at gold without getting kicked, sadly theres no love for us noobies, if anyone doesnt mind me joining their games that is, im happy listening to any advice or tips, changing my class etc

I taught a team how not to die on Firebase White (stay down stairs instead of up) vs Cerberus. Although they were still needing work on power coordination (one Asari Warps the other throws, how hard is this to grasp?). We even got everyone to the LZ although it was a partial because someone got dropped in the last 3 seconds. Still I call it a win-win.

yeah rage quitters ruin games, i've died many times, if i have a turret or a heavy armored enemy near me i usually say over the mic not to try to revive me, and wait til the wave ends then try to do better in the next wave, why rage quit, who cares about been top on the board and having the most kills honestly its about working together

Wow, sometimes you run into some impatient folk. I do not think people understand that when you search for games the system does not always honor your request. I had a level 12 adept I was going for bronze matches to level up to play gold and I get dumped into a gold lobby vs cerberus with three level 20s.

Me "wow, gold, let me switch characters" over the mic ( and they all had mic enabled )

I go to the switch screen to switch to my level 20 quarian infiltrator - I am booted from the game before I can even change, lol.

I have completed the gold challenge twice this weekend, but I have had really good luck with communication in the lobbies most of the time. The above was an exception, thankfully. So don't give up, just find somebody better to play with.

I had quite a bit of fun carrying noobs. Didn't have a single ragequit, but did have a couple of shameful high-N7 leachers. TBH, I'd never carried a gold match before this weekend -- not counting a few FBW/G farmin runs -- so I was pleasantly surprised to discover I could do it without too much difficulty. I feel like I did as much work on the mic as I did with my controller, and I was also pleasantly surprised by how enthusiastic most of the noobs were and how willing to accept positive direction.

I used my Valiant II-toting SI for most of the matches I played -- I'm good enough to carry a bad gold team, but only with a few classes, and I'd promoted my Adepts and Engineers just a couple of days ago.

Do I get extra karma points for "blaming" my Valiant for my triple-the-score-of-second-place games to make the noobs feel better? I felt a little too patronizing the first time I did it, but it resulted in one player sticking around for another game (we'd wiped on a wave 10 hack) when I think he would've quit in frustration.

15+ teams of sub 250 and most sub 120 got their packs off me. It was fun I plan on doing this again.

i might need to practice more on silver before i attempt any gold matches but i am glad i got to full extraction in 1 gold match so i could be apart of the operation exorcist weeked

Well I've done my part - carried several teams against cerberus and geth on gold with my SI today. On the last match i got DC'd on the last wave with 120,000+ points when the rest had less than that combined, i wonder what that group thought... hope they made it.

Its interesting to see patterns though, often I am in the bottom 2 score wise until wave 6 since I am focusing on positioning and not killing. But once wave 6-7 comes around and the amount of "bosses" increase the team usually falls apart and I have to clean things up.

And that makes sense, when I moved from Bronze to Silver that is what I had the biggest problems with, dealing with the increased number of bosses. And on gold it is just crazy.
But once you learn how to deal with them, and you should focus on dealing with them, anyone can deal with the small guys, it gets so much easier.

EDIT: Here is a screenshot, the 2nd scorer was a decent sniper with a widow. But it is not that hard when everything in sight is stasised.

Man, you guys are awesome. The only level 20 I have is a Human Soldier so I'm going to try to level up with Silver on some other builds as much as I can. I wouldn't expect to jump in with a Level 1 character. Going to try to find a group that will let me play with them on PS3. Unfortunately I've only been playing a week at night so my weapons are limited. I've been using the soldier to spam the hell out of Concussive Shot with the BW and it actually has been working. I know that's a weird combo. But I'm not good with enemies up close yet. I usually die trying to save others, believe it or not...

Me and a friend carried 2 sub 50 N7 battlefield soldiers for cerb gold glacier. One guy with mattock (could aim, wasnt bad), other guy was terrible.

Did my share plus more. 15-20 matches with extraction (only 3 failed), helped well over 20 people though one of my last games got saved by someone from BSN. Had a sub 40 and sub 30 I was helping, 4th guy n7 rank 500 something bails wave 1 probably thinking we would wipe due to both low ranks dying at least once each that wave. Carried them to 4 when BSN person accepted invite and managed an extraction.

Hadn't tried gold until night before event start, but figured making it to wave 7 solo I could handle it and had a blast. All but maybe 1 team had decent to great teamwork, fails came on hack circles all vs cereberus. Looking forward to more soon, was getting bored of silver being too easy.

I did my share as well. Last night I helped a few guys get their commendation + victory pack -- assuming the goal of 1,000,000 phantoms killed is reached.

But today, just a few minutes ago, I got put into a lobby of one N7 15 Asari, N7 84 Soldier, and a N7 25 something (forget what because he got dropped out of the match after the first wave). I know the whole 'N7 ranking isn't a true measurement of a player's skill-level' rhetoric, but it held true in this match. I managed to carry the team to wave 7, but it got to be too much.

Did this again this morning, joined into a random lobby on silver originally, wanting to relevel up my sentinel, and then randomly the lobby changes to gold for some nice young lady, so I switch to my infiltrator like asked, and we wreck on gold,and I feel good about it the whole time.

It hasn't been as bad as I was expecting so far.

Had a few HORRIBLE games, and I've gotten the coveted "15 Revives" medal in 3 of my last 5 games, but making it to extraction hasn't been quite as much of a hurdle as I had feared.

Use the noobs as cannon fodder and rack up your score.

Not an elite, but managed 4 out 6 (on one, 2 guys quit and I really can't solo gold) extractions with randoms, topped on 2 occasions, close second on two, made 10 people happy as OP stated.

Very impressive.  I tried very hard to help the last squad out, but seriously -- it's very difficult when people venture out.  I couldn't believe I picked up the 25 Biotic Kills, 20 Head Shots, 75 Kills, 15 revives, 5 grabs, and so forth by wave 7.   

I see you went with the Infiltrator -- smart.  I should probably do the same instead of using the Adept.

Have to say, after a lot of solver games i never really touched gold. Decided to have a go at the operation today (with a fully levelled GI). Public game, firebase white, Cerberus. lvl 14 odd salarian engineer held up everything in the room inside with a decoy, and it was really simple! can only thank the engineers and adepts who CC for the infiltrators!
