Yeah, Bioware should make an official event like this!

Get a gold extraction with at least 1 team member not having done it before!

(That wouldn't work because it would be so unfair to people who cant find someone to carry, but still.)

I really like this event, it made my gaming weekend very enjoyable and made me appreciate ME3 MP more again after feeling a bit tired of it.

Failed my first gold this weekend. Why? Host Left, not sure it was intentional or not, but I got kicked to the lobby. Made me a Sad Panda.

I am happy to report that I've carried a team to gold extraction on Glacier against Cerberus with my Novaguard. Had 3 rank 100 and below in my team, 1 left early (dc?) and the other two kept dying in the middle of every wave.

The only game I 'carried' was with a bunch of what I think were normal gold players (Giant/Cerberus). It was like me at 105k then the rest at 80/60/43 (late join). Before the game they were wary because I didn't want to put equipment on. In the early rounds they were like "Is Soggy doing ok up there?" But it worked out in the end.

Other than that I helped a guy win his first Gold, although none of the team were noobs at all and we all scored fairly evenly.

So I think I get half marks?

Man, I have some serious concerns about tonight...

Was busy this wknd and hadn't played in a bit.  So I warmed up w/ a few hrs. earlier this AM, hosting 6-8 Silver matches, building credits for some restocking.  Absolutely NO issues, not even 1 drop or 'Server Not Available' message.   Maybe the best connection I've ever had...

Ready to try my 1st Gold w/ my lvl 20 Justicar... quickly find a match, load up all 3 slots w/ the the best bonuses I have.  Makes it about 90sec -- DROPS ME, losing all items.   Tried to find another: 'Server Not Available' 'Server Not Available' 'Server Not Available'?

Now I can't even connect to a Gold match at all?!  Just did a solo-Bronze to make sure it wasn't me, all good, but if I try for a switch to Gold: 'Server Not Available'?

I'm concerned now that I'll miss this event's Comendation Pk simply because I won't stay connected long enough for extration.

Thoughts?

Did my part just now for this.

Searched for a quick Any/Cerberus match, got FB:White (lol). I was an SI with a Widow X, scored 120k, everyone else had 60k or less.

I even used 4 Cobras on the 4 targets to get Wave 10 done quicker

Just wanted to thank the OP for starting this thread and encouraging the seasoned Gold veterans to help us poor Bronze/Silver folks out.

I was not sure I even wanted to attempt the challenge this weekend, even though it was the first one finally available to PS3 players. I was concerned about how angry the Gold players would get with us newbies crashing in (after all, the forums often seem a very hostile place for non-Gold people) and I figured I'd end up taking a bunch of abuse over the mics or get kicked constantly.

I was pleasantly surprised. No kicks. No mean words. Just lots of helpful folks willing to give tips and help me learn how to play Gold. I actually have some modicum of confidence now and won't keep avoiding Gold like the plague. Think I'll actually try it again every now and then, when I feel like leaving my kiddie pool. LOL

But seriously, I would have never attempted Gold if not for this "unofficial" weekend event. And I would have missed out on a LOT. A lot of advice, a lot of fun, and a lot of new friends.

I just remembered my first attempt at gold. I died in the middle of a group of pyros and primes. A good natured infiltrator kept reviving me so that just a second later I would die because I didn't really have control of the character and had no shield at all. I kept dying and he kept reviving me for like 10 times. I was laughing so hard I can barely play. It must be hilarious for him as well.

Finally did it tonight! Was fortunate enough to get a group that knew what they were doing and I learned a few things myself, like, if there's another adept, alternate between warp/stasis and throw for maximum booms.

To whomever was with me that time, thank you very much.

I did too so far and the the first one as Firebase white geth so I switched to my salarian engineer even though he's not specced for farming. We ended up all dying on extraction.

Played another round on Reactor, Reapers, and different people. it was an all tech team and no biotics so it was pretty much painful but we all me extracted out alive. The lobby was set to unkown unkown, and with people of a lower N7 then me but over 120+ no kicking just lets get this done.

Wish I had gotten some more talkative players and learned but maybe next time.

I'm not sure if I recognize your ID, but my two squad-mates and I carried a few guys tonight.  If you were one of those, congrats.  

I had a blast tonight.  My squad did not lose a single Gold match all night -- we changed the map after every match and tried to do speed runs at the end (best was 21 minutes I think -- which isn't great, but we moved quickly without a hitch).  Overall, I hope those who were carried by my squad and I enjoy their new weaponry.

I spent yesterday dying on wave 10, finally a few hours ago I did it. All thanks to the others for helping it was appreciated even though I was with randoms hopefully at least one is on forum. I can now go back to silver for a while, was stressful event on both sides, I feel need to get drunk now.

With only a few hrs. remaining, I got back on and saw no drops... fell into a random locale lobby vs. Cerebus.

Took 4 tries to finally hit the evac... next to last attempt being a Wave10 demise in Reactor (of all places) w/ only the final of 4 objectives remaining.

Eventually ended up being a "Sole Survivor" evac on Firebase Hydra, sadly not me, 'cause I got stuck through the belly by a Phantom just after placing a final dome barrier to see our man out in the final seconds = *EPIC*!


*Comendation, indeed, well-earned.

This was a fun event! I didn't get a chance to do many carries; only one with whom I actually spoke. It was kind of adorable .

He kept going of on his own (on FBW/g/g) and getting killed, so I would have to run my SI over to save him. It was pretty amusing watching him try to melee Pyros. I imposed a "no meleeing pyros" rule, which worked pretty well until he got his Batarian Sentinel and declared "with the Batarian Sentinel, I'm allowed to melee pyros!"

It was victorious and uplifting

I'm not sure if it was a carry team that helped me last night, since nobody was talking, but a massive thanks to everyone involved. Now that I've lost my "gold virginity" I will probably try it again in the future, so I appologise if you get stuck with me again.

Just goes to show what a great community we have here, not many games have such a friendly majority.

I don't think I've thanked the op for this initiative yet but this has been my mindset from the get go. Everybody has to start Gold somewhere and I was thankful for the understanding gold teams that took me on in the first few challenges. Since then I cannot play anything else - the credits and challenge are just too rewarding. Anybody who normally doesn't play gold but who wants an understanding microphone-wielding teammate on the pc for some successful but fun gold runs, feel free to add me: Ankila.

I missed my chance to try this gold run this weekend.

I’m down to only a single OPS Survival Pack and haven’t unlocked any from the 4 Spectre Packs I saved up to get tonight (to try and get some better weapon upgrades and didn’t get squat for anything really) not a single one. I have 52 Cobra's with a usage of 3 per mission, 104 freaking Thermal Clip Packs with 2 usage per mission and 8 Medi-Gel with 3 usage per mission. I wouldn’t feel right going into a Gold match without a full load of my consumable items that the rest of the team probably would like me to use on them.

During what was going to be my final Bronze before making an 11th hour attempt into a Gold match (Firebase White with Geth since it sounds like it’s the easiest to try for) and in wave 8 or so my game freezes up. That kind of took the whole playing motivation out of me with an hour or so before the deadline. Its bad enough that when I was doing active searches for Cerberus as an enemy I go twith Reapers or Geth most of the time.

Maybe next time this Gold Newbie will get on a gold match to get the “good pack”.

I completed a good few random gold runs this weekend, hopefully got a few newer players through and dealing with phantoms easier with my asari stasis bubbles.

Tragically we also tried to get one of my mates through a gold game who started playing a week or so ago, we have already completed gold with him before and despite being new to me3 he is very very good at shooters generally but for some reason whenever he played, everything went wrong and we never got a gold extraction.

He was like a sort of reverse good luck charm.

.. Playing with the newbs then being kicked by newbs is funnier...I was blamed on more occasions for things I didn't do cause I didn't use my MIC to keep silent from yelling at them to stop doign things we made it while I played Salarian Engineer support just cause I got low score do't mean you should kick me >_< well turns out our group kicked a rank N7 250 sumthing when most the group was a batarian a vanguard nova non the less (lesser level just starting out) and a geth infil while such I was vote kicked for later changing my class and incapable of supporting their poor butts.... oh for the love of things why do I have to play with ppl that should remain in bronze games till they learnt enough? I love going silver games for EXP and uncommon leveling but gold for me is my chance to earn a spec pack each run time not that I DO gold often cause it's a very focusing challenge and I don't care for full extract as much as past wave 10 but it's fun to meet other ppl higher or equal to my understanding of game mechanic and enjoy and have a good challengeing run aye? atm silver is also overrun with newblets which pains me further that I'm a team player and I have to deal with the score board ****s

I got kicked at N7220 (not even reall very high) by some 50's because i was an Infiltrator with a BW and they wanted to play with 'their' people.. little did they know, i cant snipe on consoles at all and only joined their *bronze* cerbarus mission because i wanted to play around with this new weapon i have no real hope of using proficiently..
I am one of their people.. i suck

I usually keep the difficulty at random, but since I have a rank of 1k+, I see more people drop from bronze and silver than anything else. For the weekend, with new lobbies, I've completed gold three times until extraction, and a whole bunch of times where we made it to round 9 with leechers and rambo type players.

But I mostly get kicked when they see me on bronze... idiots assume you hack with a large rank.

Did a few more Public Cerberus Goldruns yesterday. First one failed, but we had one guy who refused to do teamplay and started insulting us when we just suggested that he takes a better defensible position. Needless to say, he died every round, blaming us for not "helping him" and scored last with a quarter of my and another guys score. Luckily, that other guy was fun and we just set up our own game.
Hydra vs. Cerberus, full extraction, at least one of the guys wasn't familiar with gold, the other did average.
After some games in a friends lobby with many dead phantoms I decided to do some more for operation carry. 2 more full extractions, in both teams one guy who didn't finish gold before (but 2 other good players, so I didn't have to do too much carrying).
Was fun and I think I will continue this. The damn store gave me another black-card...my Lvl 4 scorpion =(. Damn trollshop.
