I mentioned in another thread that I was having trouble with Leliana switching weapons sets in a glitchy way this playthrough. So I ended up deciding to build her as a DW melee fighter instead of an archer -- it seemed like that was what she wanted to do.  

It has turned out much better than I expected. She has the Felon’s Coat armor, Key to the City, Andruil’s Blessing, and some other pretty good gear on. She wields two dragonbone Crow daggers with all six rune slots filled with grandmaster-level runes inserted. Playing on nightmare difficulty.
 
Now, when I get to the Landsmeet, Loghain asks who I want to fight as my champion. Er, well, okay Leliana, here we go:  time to shine. And lo and behold, with the help of a few bombs and poisons, she quite quickly annihilates the treacherous old sod. 
 
Victory never tasted sweeter. Apparently she knew what she was doing all along.

Congrats. The Loghain fight is very hit and miss, in my opinion. A cakewalk or a nightmare. Someone specialising in single-target takedowns will walk it, but someone more built for crowd control will get steamrollered.

This was the first time I have seen Loghain pull out a crossbow. He fired several shots with it, only switching to his sword after Leliana engaged with melee weapons.

I usually play my strongest, most heavily armored character as champion. It was kind of a kick to see Leliana take him down.
