I'll start by saying what I mean by a cross game side quest arc - a series of side quests following a storyline that are present in multiple games. For example, the 'Forbidden Ones' questline is present in both Origins with Gaxkang and DA:2 with Xebenkeck. This questline is very mysterious, little to no concrete information is given to the player in Origins about what Gaxkang actually is. But I found that part of the game very interesting and it piqued my curiosity.

So when it came to DA:2 and I fought Xebenkeck and found the Enigma of Kirkwall codex entries, I found them fascinating, and I can't wait to see if a (hypothetical) DA:3 continues this story line.

What I want to say, is that these side quest arcs that span multiple games are great, and that including them in future Bioware games would be a good idea. It also ties in with another thing I like to see in RPG's; optional, difficult content with high tier rewards. There is no need to kill Gaxkang to get the Keening Blade and Fade Wall, but they are both very powerful pieces of equipment that make the player feel like their additonal investment of time to complete an optional piece of content has given them a tangible reward. Both Xebenkeck and Gaxkang are more challenging than usual encounters that a player doesn't need to complete, but which they are rewarded for doing so.

In summary, side quests that span multiple games are a good thing we need to see more of; revealing the story game by game makes it all the more interesting when you do discover more about that storyline. And making these optional story arcs contain challenging, 'high level' encounters with great rewards is another positive thing.

The completionist in me loves this. I too really loved hunting down Gaxkang and the Xebenkek and collecting and actually reading the codex entries from the band of three. I would definitely be interested in seeing more of this in DAIII and seeing the story tied neatly together.

Also, along the same lines of rewards for players that explore deeper - pain in the butt at is was, I also really enjoyed the puzzle at the top of the Circle tower in DA:O that lead you back downstairs to retrieve Yusaris. The towers should be places full of magic and mystery, and I loved that there were treasures to find and mysteries to solve. More and more of this, please!

They better fix the problem with import save flags first, otherwise your idea going to be a mess + I have a very bad feeling when Bioware handles continuity like Lady Aribeth in NWN.

As long as they do not ever do to a side quest or DLC or whatever that they did to poor Sofia Dryden - reducing her from an awesome interesting villian to a random nameless (but named) mook at a random spot on the wounded coast.

Agree entirely. I would never leave a tantalising quest-marker in my journal without pursuing it to the bitter end! Loved the Watchguard of the Reaching and Summoning Sciences in DA:O, and the comparable quests in DA2. I would also very much like to see more of these mysteries in DA3.
I didn't encounter Sophia Dryden in DA2, but then, I didn't let her survive Soldier's Peak.....Would also be interested to know more about the Dark Epiphany.

No. Dragon Age is about the world, not the characters.
