Her email clearly notes she's still fighting indoctrination, and without the Thorian Bond she has with her fellow Colonists she'd be lost.
One Former Asari Commando will not make a huge difference. Stop thinking every minor character can impact the Galaxy by gracefully saying hi for a minute.

Even the extent to which Shiala has beaten Indoctrination is more than anyone else has. It shows that IT CAN BE DONE, even if Shiala herself isn't the one who accomplishes it. But no one's even trying. TIM just wants to interrupt the Reapers' signal so HE can control the Banshees, Husks, Cannibals, etc. No one's trying to see if there's anything left to save of the original person. Shortsighted.
Of course, no one's trying to see if there's a way to reprogram the mass relays so that the Reapers can't use them, another obvious tactic that goes completely unmentioned. But hey, here's some ancient plans for a device that does...something...let's do that!

I liked the Asari matriarch bartender from ME2. She had a good head on her shoulders, kept expecting her to have a larger role in the story at some point.
So posting to say that I stand corrected. Also: yay!
