Okay, so Bioware are now a subsidiary of EA (correct me if I am wrong).

The suits have many rights, including veto power, and the ability to shape the direction of a game.

Why haven't they just made an executive order to make the ending indoc theory as part of the clarification DLC? It. is. a. free. pass.

All signs point to the ending NOT being indoc theory, but being REAL (incl. starkld and coward normandy).

I'm a pragmatist, and I see nothing concievably bad occuring as a result of indoc theory being taken up. The other direction, however, reveals a much more bleak outlook.

Thoughts?

Because then they would have sold us a game without an end, instead of one with a bad ending...

Typical arrogance and ignorance; we're fans who don't have a job developing or writing video games so we can't possibly come up with something good. The same logic behind a chef saying that the customer is imposing their will on his work when the steak they made was undercooked; they're not a chef, so how would they know if the steak is not good and is undercooked?

They would still have to think of the real ending if they used Indoc Theory correct? Or did they come up with the answer for that too for Bioware?

So you'd want to re-do everything we already did? You really want to face off against TIM again and go fire the Crucible, again, now that Shepard is still injured? But this time you want it to do (???).

People (the 1-3%) who liked the synthesis ending perhaps? Or maybe some other dlc or plans for me4 depend on the endings standing. Or perhaps because they then still have to finish the story. But overall those are pretty weak reasons.

True but it is also a genius bit of writing and the DLC is free, so really no harm is done.

Not necessarily, indoc theory has many iterations, my personal favorite is indoctrination just before the elevator of light.

Cuts out all the bad bits, keeps the good bits. Simple really.

It would require the game to be extended. Plus, it's not clear what would happen after Shep wakes up.

You don't even have to do this. The conversation with TIM and Anderson can stand, that part of it is when TIM is trying to control you, things are blurry but they really happen. Then harbinger takes over and the effect is much more powerful, the entire starchild scene is a symbolic game mechanic representing Shepard trying to defeat the indoctrination. Of course they still have to finish the story.

Then what does the Crucible do?

It's in his mind (a dream), fighting between indoctrination/blood loss and his determination to hit the "go" button 1ft away from him on the console.

Cruciable is the weapon.

I agree. I really like the IT idea, but some people would complain that they don't have internet access so they can't download the DLC.

Yeah, if the Indoc. Theory is true and Shepard overcomes the indoc. attempt the Reaper threat is still alive.

Without indoctrination theory we have no hope.

Without hope we must as well be machines, programmed to do what we're told.

They sold a game with Day One DLC that was actually important to the narrative, unlike Zaeed and Kasumi.  Wouldn't put it past them to make us pay for the proper ending.
