not worth patching...

Indeed, treat the game like an MMO and a good part of the community won't even adopt it. My friend's dex rogue was doing fine without a buff; to compensate for his lack of damage vs. a cunning rogue, he had like 150 armor class.

Start fixing actual bugs and maybe I'll download this. Mirroring World of Patchcraft is not a good start.

This has been asked twice, but no one answered: Will the dex hotfix and this patch conflict?

I don't know about the dexterity hotfix from Georg (part of that hotfix is included in 1.02... the dagger dexterity part), but the other dexterity hotfix (that Georg actually recommends) that focuses only on range has been updated to work with 1.02, link.

I have a very similar hardware setup to you, and I only encounter occasional stuttering sometimes when I highlight objects with the tab key.

Yea that's the first problem I encounter, after that load times seem to get longer too.  But it only appears to be in Denerim for me.  If I travel to another area, the problems seem to go away.

I'm sure the whole Bioware team was on pins and needles to discover whether you two approved of their latest patch and are now no doubt devastated that neither of you will be downloading it.  Image IPB

Oh, I really don't care, because I'm still playing 1.01b.

Cool thing is, I don't need anyone's approval, it's a single player game. :wizard:

But really, you should have seen this rogue against a dragon (won't spoil which one). Dragon tries to hit him, miss, miss, miss, miss. The guy was a far better tank than Alistair.

I find it a bit insulting now that the consoles still have to play bugged while the PC gets spoiled rotten. Shouldnt have even put the damn patch out until the consoles were clear to launch.

I'll lump this with the Borderlands on PC multiplayer travesty and call it even.

Did Georg really endorse this? On a first glance it seems like a solid buff for archers, compared to the vanila bow mechanics.
Backstab with a bow. I cant help but picture stabbing someone with a fireball now.

Although mass enemy archers spamming a knockdown scattershot does not sound appealing.

Quick question.Does this patch screw up mods since i heard that it does?If this was answered earlier then ...well tough.

Let's be honest, this patch is essentially a "throw a morsel to the angry mob to temporarily distract them" kind of patch.

I see this happen in public relations all the time.

Hopefully,
the next patch would be a hefty one which addresses the various
technical issues that I seeon various forums  (performance , loading times, dlc issues, a well documented possible memory usage flaw etc)

The sad thing is I spent whole day yesterday reading about the various technical issues people were having and trying to find a pattern, only to come here today where I was pleasantly surprised with this patch, and then dissapointed when I saw that there are no technical fixes.

I think it's great that Bioware seems to go for putting out small patches regularly. People might complain about their pet peeve not being taken care of because they see a patch is out and their problem persists but they would likely complain about "waiting endlessly for patching" if Bioware went with big but infrequent patches.

At least this way we get some of the fixes quickly.

If this page is officially Georg's then yes he endorses that mod.  And if you look at the mod description, it states that on Normal and Easy difficulty, enemy archers can not knock you down with scattershot.

You'll have to look at it on a case by case basis.  Some people say the Respecialization 1.6 Mod doesn't work, but it seems to be working just fine for me.  The ranged dexterity mod that I linked earlier has been updated to work with 1.02.  To know whether a mod works or not, you will have to goto the mod's page either here or at DANexus to find out.

Frequent but minute patches vs.  irregular but giant patches.

Both methods are open to criticism as you rightly pointed out.

However, I wouldn't call long load times, and severe lagging  issues which some people suffer from "pet peeves." It's a bit more than a pet peeve if you ask me^_^

But, otherwise, I agree with your post.

Ive never put on easy and only played normal drring my first run, and im never going to be on normal again. Having to lower the difficulty so as not to get chain-knocked around constantly by white enemies is not good for a mod's appeal

Will there be an automatic patching system implemented in the near future? This would be of great benefit.

Any progress on bows? It was discussed that you might increase their damage, but only for player-controlled characters.

People are complaining that the game is getting continued support? Amazing.

"Oh no, Warcraft did it, so it must be bad!"

it's not the patch support, but the content of such patches, at last for me. Every new patch seems aimed at making the game easier. That's why I'm not updating. :/

No but a mod already takes care of that. Not saying Bioware should ignore it forever (obiovusly they should implement a fix at some point) but it doen't hurt that they adress some stuff the community hasn't and vice versa.

They nerfed coc, blizzard and ff with this patch, made some encounters easier that wasn't scaling properly and changed healing pot drops (unclear if they increased or decreased freuency). It's hard to tell at this point if the overall difficulty goes up or down with this patch but the spell-nerfs alone might work to make it more difficult.

I'm fine with balance changes but bug fixes should be the first priority.
