I'm still getting this error :
"Running External Installer for 'RT Patch'... This may take a few moments -36"
Could it be because alot of people are patching right now? Any ideas?

It has nothing to do with people downloading/patching right now... it's running only on your machine. Try removing any mods if you have them or re-install from a clean slate then patch.

^ same as MasamuneGal. Mine was a fresh out of the box installation. Only thing odd I can think of may be due to not installing on C:\\, but to a external hard drive. My hope is that Bioware either rewrites the NSIS installer script or provides a workaround at some point as there are fair number of people that have been experiencing this error with no solution to be found.

Don't see a fix for the steaming pile of crap that the game becomes when the dlc content disappears mid game and locations on the map vanish. I invested all my best runes into the skymetal sword that vanished along with alisters boots and morigens staff, all from the dlc content. Only to have it all vanish when I got to the underdark. I posted in tech issues, no response and opened a ticket with bioware. my brush off read like this....:Hello,
Thank you for contacting Electronic Arts Customer Support.
We are sorry the inconvenience caused to you. The issue you are facing looks to be related to gameplay mechanics, we are sorry but we are customer support and we don't have in-depth gameplay knowledge. We can only assist with issues related to the game itself. We would suggest you to post this issue on our forums, so that other players can help you with this.
Not bad huh? I wish I could just blindly ignoire my customers like this...

I just bought the Mac version (Thank You BioWare). How do you tell what version you are running? Is there a different download for patching Macs?

it looks like something wrong with dual weapons.. not sure though. But when I equip a steel longsword it does give me more damage points than equipping a veridium dagger on Zevran (he has something like 20 str and 38 dex).

i get error 36 too.. doesnt seem to be a way to get around it.
My biggest problem is i got the game yesterday spent all day trying to get it to install with many many failures, and when i got it installed, could not get it to patch.. Then against my better judgement i fired it up and played it for an hour.. damn.. i actually want to play this game!
if only i didnt i could just launch the disk off the balcony and forget about it. Maybe its all a conspiracy; they are going to charge 2 dollars for a working patch, 5 dollars for a working game.. they'll make BILLIONS

Be sure y'all post your tech issues in the appropriate tech forum and not just in this announcement thread. It may get lost in the shuffle, otherwise.

I haven't had any real bugs in the game, before or after the patches, just some funny glitches, like in Arl Eamon's estate one of the maids was suspended in mid air. The thing that sort of irritates me is that the latest patch says easy mode was made easier. I assumed that meant my party wouldn't be overwhelmed by enemies in the dozens like before. I haven't really seen any improvement there, there's still usually four enemies for every one of my npcs.
I don't play DA:O only for the fighting, I play it for the plot, and interaction with my npc's too, but it seems all I'm doing is fighting, no matter what part of the game I'm in.

I installed nearly two months ago with no problems...completed an elven mage in Version 1.00 with only one bug, and only two random crashes. Collectors edition (Stone Prisoner and Dragon Armor add-ons). My bug was the Stone Prisoner village not showing up - as mentioned elsewhere I just disabled the add-on, rebooted my machine, and re-enabled the add-on and it popped up.
Updated to 1.02 and now 25% done with a human rogue, after buying Warden's Peak.
WIn XP 32-bit SP3, ATI HD3870 graphics card, Intel E6420 processor, and getting 40 - 50 FPS with high textures and 4X AA at 1280 by 1024.

I had the same issue.
I deleted my image file (of the dao dvd) and reinstalled the game from the dvd. The patch went through fine now.
Good luck

Anyone have the dog find anything (unscripted) since they installed the patch? New characters (two!) new maps, dog hasn't found anything that wasn't scripted to happen.

This is probably just a selfish request, but I find that the dialogs feel a little sluggish, and it would help if the delay after which dialog options appear would be disabled and the click-"animation" after selecting one option would be shortened. The quicker reaction time of selecting something in other or older games is much more convenient than this illusion of next-gen-"now everything is animated and smooth"-polish.
It's annoying that I always have to press ESC when I want to see the options right away and not only wait after the speaker is halfway through with his introduction phrase. It's a tiny thing, but every once in a while I might find it annoying, and it's utterly pointless anyway.

You can check it in the menu of the Launcher > Dragon Age Origins > About Dragon... Actually is 1.01. I hope we'll get the patch as soon as possible.
