Before the patch it seemed to never stop...all allies were dead...my party was almost dead...just me left...i tried to lure the enemies back up to the mill but even then they still kept coming.
The patch fixed the spawning issue thank goodness.

From my searches I have found out that this can be encountered when using a certain glitch in the game in Redcliffe, but I haven't been using any such. What happens is that the save file will get a different name from time to time (for instance "MainHall.das" instead of "Main Hall"). When I try to load this file I get a message that the save file appears to be corrupted, and it refuses to load. The game does not crash, and other save files work as normal.
Some times save files also appear to get randomly deleted, or I will end up with three or four autosave files and lose all my saves from the last 10-15 minutes. The problem appears to have worsened after I entered The Wardens' Keep for the first time (I've played for around 30 hours total). Now, during the search for The Urn of Sacred Ashes, it happens all the time and makes it very difficult to play the game, as you never know when you won't be able to load your latest save(s).
Again, I don't know if this is patch related, but I thought I'd mention it.

i think the real issue that bugged so many was the never ending spawning of enemies at Redcliffe.

i started it at the mill, there was few coming with like 1 minute interval, i had to wait some time for them to spawn because it was 4 knights, dwyn + 2 thugs, me and my party against them and we were killing them very quickly. when i got down in the village it was harder, 4 - 6 enemies attacking together, it was hard down there i had 2 of my party member down and 2 militiamen were alive, i was out of health elixirs but after 15 mins it ended, i spent most of the time paused giving commands to party members to not let them die.
i had Alistair, Lileana and Sten in my party and i'm a Noble Human - Rogue.
i was at 1.00 patch with no mods back then playing with Normal Difficulty... damn, i wonder how people did that on Nightmare Difficulty

Very, VERY patiently. Took me close to 20 plays to get circumstances to favor me enough to win this one. Not a battle i'd like to repeat. Felt like friggin' Thermopylae, with me short some Spartans ...

How about Shale being broken and the memory leak to name a few?
Oh and btw I started playing computer games with pong in the early 80s

The link at the bottom of the page links to some EA page that lists patch 1.02 as the latest version (instead of 1.02a) and links to version 1.01b

However, I then rolled a warrior and realized that even on Nightmare (a setting that gave me so much trouble on my first playthrough as a rogue) the game was not difficult at all. Some battles required a little more planning but it wasn't anything like my first playthrough.

.
will agree here, the difficulty level for nightmare is very low, to the point that it is not much harder then normal. It has very little to do with playing optimum builds or past experience, it is simply not that difficult. Some small bugs, broken quests such as the Legion of the Dead quest, can't be completed. But really not one game breaking bug from the patch after 4 play throughs and several unfinished games. Shale functions perfectly everytime, no save game corruption. Memory leak is there but not really a deal breaker, unless you settle in for a major session on the weekend and even then a simple restart solves the issue. The looting empty corpses is still present, but it is now very very rare.
edit
Also there is a bug with with Champion specialization. Rally continues to increase evertime a character loads a zone or loads a cut scene. It happens at all difficulties and requires a manual reset of rally, otherwise it will continue to increase (250 def equals go to sleep

I just downloaded this patch. How can I know if my game has indeed been patched? I can't find anything that tells me what version of the game I now have.
In Program Files (x86) Dragon Age docs there should be Patch Notes... Dragon Age: Origins 1.02
Also in Dragon Age Bin_ship launch DAOrigins Configuration Utility click "game" menu option to the left side, it will tell you which version you have.

So the patch fixes the neverending army spawning at Redcliff? I had game on normal setting (not a very good gamer *sorry!*) and just when it looked like my team would win *bam* 15 more dead army guys to kill, and they didn't go down easily either! So then I'd lose all my companions in about 15 seconds after that, and all the Redcliff militia, except for one lone archer dude who was soon mincemeat.......can't stand long against 15 undead!

On the patch details page it says "Many of the fixes affecting balance, gameplay, or plot scripting are already included in the Xbox 360 and PlayStation®3 versions of Dragon Age: Origins.".
http://social.biowar...page/da-patches
Can anyone tell me exactly what from patch 1.02 has already been included in the Xbox 360 version and what is still an issue to be fixed later? I've only had the game for two weeks at most and haven't even completed one play-through, so I'm not familiar with all the possible bugs and glitches yet.
