The spells Force Field, Crushing Prison, Cone of Cold, and Blizzard now have shorter durations and/or longer cooldowns. This ensures that combatants can no longer stun-lock each other by repeatedly casting the same spell.

Are ya kiddin' me? Is this a PvP MMORPG?

Oh well. Nothing a little tinkering with abi_base couldn't fix. I'm disappointed, however.

lololol

Just a reminder - any files you might have in the packages\\core\\override directories from mods made on 1.02 or early WILL interfere with this patch and should be deleted.

I assume you mean 1.01 or earlier.
Should we just move them to the override folder in the My Documents?

I think he means get rid of them entirely. The override folder in My Documents does the same thing as the one in your DA install directory, only at a higher priority.

those are all my favorite spells.  why would I dl this patch?

Bugfixes? Dunno why you'd like such op spells so much, but you can mod them back if you'd like.

i don't know about blizzard, but i don't believe the rest are op.   this is not a mmorpg, so i'm surprised with the nerfing.

Luckily, in single player games, you don't have to be ass raped with patches.

sure, it's not a mmorpg, but if a spell is making the game too easy even on nightmare difficulty...it should be fixed/nerfed

kinda happy with the changes (altho I, like many others, abuse those 4 spells :P)

Steam patched me in the background. I wouldn't have noticed except I happened to be looking at the screen when the 'Dragon Age: Origins is finished downloading" message popped up, and I looked at the steam update news tab and it said 1.02 was applied...

If you have files in the override that the patch modified, Bad Things ™ might happen. Something like a texture mod should be unaffected.

Which is why you shouldn't use mods that ovrride the core files.  Just sain'

Look, people, the RESPONSIBILITY of Bioware is to provide a balanced single-player game. YOUR responsibility (if you'd like) is to unbalance the game. Want a 10000 damage cone of cold? Go edit the files yourself. What permastun? Like I said, do the same. Cheating is UP TO YOU. If you want to do it, no one's stopping you, but the people that don't want to change anything deserve no less than a perfectly balanced game. Yes, I said PERFECTLY BALANCED.

Wait, people still do that in engines with overrides?

So no dex-bug fix but rather a dagger-bug fix?

It kind of looks like to me that they took the "SAFE" rout on the dex bug by just fixing how the dagger works instead of fixing how dex is working overall. I suppose it was becuase of the fear of the NPC's Archers becomming unbalanced perhaps? This still leaves me with the question of: is dex working completely as intended?

I think they should have at least made the enemy archers on nightmare harder.

Dex itself was not broken!  It was only daggers.

The Archery changes George were talking about had nothing to do with dexterity.  But because they lack flanking and just generally seemed to underperform, but not a bug.

Not fix the serious problems, but throw in nerfs for the most popular class?

Ok, I understand. See, they have had their initial sales on DAO. But on January 26 they release Mass Effect 2. So, we are supposed to be finished with DAO by then.

One way to get players off of DAO is to get large numbers of mages to rage quit.

Elementary, my dear Watson!

As well as the cross bows?

What was wrong with crossbows?

Then maybe those mage players should stop being ****** and suck it up, since the implemented changes are how it was supposed to be from the start (had Bioware done it correctly right from the start).

I must be missing something, what's wrong with mods that override core files?
