Read the patch notes. The patch certainly does not make the game easier... Only fixes a few encounters that were abnormally hard because of improper scaling.

You can say it however you want, but it's still making the game easier, which is 100% unneeded at this point. If anything hard/nightmare should become harder. They should have prioritized fixing the bugs, not making sure that little Johnny could finally beat Denerim thugs without cheating.

Could all those who are whining about the patch making the game easier (because of two ambushes being scaled correctly), and all those who are whining about the patch making the game hardier (because of overpowered spells being less OP), please start a new thread where they can argue among themselves? I suggest you call it "The Game Is Too Easy Now / The Game Is Too Hard Now! Waaaaa!"

The spells Force Field, Crushing Prison, Cone of Cold, and Blizzard now have shorter durations and/or longer cooldowns. This ensures that combatants can no longer stun-lock each other by repeatedly casting the same spell.

This is going to make a lot of battles a lot harder =( Oh well, paralysis and sleep time!

So some people here actually think it's fair to be able to cast CoC non-stop in a fight...? Hmm...

Doesn't look like much else changing but then again not much needs changing!

Not fix the serious problems, but throw in nerfs for the most popular class?

Ok, I understand. See, they have had their initial sales on DAO. But on January 26 they release Mass Effect 2. So, we are supposed to be finished with DAO by then.

One way to get players off of DAO is to get large numbers of mages to rage quit.

Elementary, my dear Watson!

Mages are not the most popular class. The majority of players are playing warriors, according to Biowares statistics.

So I installed the patch, played it and I must say those modifications to CoC and Blizzard are VERY small.  I'm not the type to be sitting waiting for the CoC timer to count down anyways so in truth I did not really notice a difference.

The only thing I really noticed was I didn't have to wait as long for Blizzard to disapate before wading in with my DW Warrior/Tank.  This was a good thing by me as I truly like to watch darkspawn heads go flying.  Blizzard/Earthquake was starting to get stale really fast....

I can't stand the FF in the game, so I always have it at easy. I have noticed no real difference except with different classes.

Where does one see the statistics?  I'm curious about the exact divisions...

Am I the only one that thought the challenge of those fights was fun?

I did, I think I wiped once or twice trying various tactics but then got them. I remember I thought like "damn these are unusually tough for just bandits lol" and didn't think of them being bugged.

I'd just like to say that you make excellent posts and are always a voice of reason on these forums. </web crush>

If you want the game made harder, ask for that. I do too (at least on nightmare).
Having 2-3 encounters (which were reather tangential to the plot) scale very differently from all the rest, isn't the way to do it.
The way to look at it is this, now that those encounters aren't exceptionally hard, they can increase the difficulty of all encounters (on hard and nightmare) without making those 2 potentially impossible.
