So I odered the first Baldur's Gate a few days ago, and it arrived in the mail today.
This version has only one disc, and the expansion, but I only installed the game for now.

After I managed to installed it, I press play and I usually get a message asking if I want to suscribe to a newsletter or some-such from Black Isle, and after pressing that I don't want to and wish to forfeit it, the game just shuts down. I also tried subscribing to it, but that doesn't work either.

And now I don't even get the message about subscribing anymore, once I click play on the start-up screen now it just dissapears and I still can't play the damn game!

Sorry if I was being to vague, but English isn't my first language, Dutch is.

Try the following:
1) Uninstall your existing installation.
2) Reinstall with a full installation (tick every box), including the expansion. Install to a location like c:\\games\\bg not the default program files location.
3) Install the TotSC patch from http://www.sorcerers.../index_misc.php
Whether you want the UK or international patch depends on the existing version of the game you've got.

That should work, but if you have any problems after doing that then post again.

It seems to have worked, but oddly enough it can only be played if I played it on an English system locale, but that's fine.
