I can not speak for everyone, so I will speak for myself and let others speak their own mind.
It was just over a year and a half ago that I bought Dragon Age for my son, it was for christmas. After he got more then half way through I decided to play and was hooked. Being an RPG fan there was a lot to like in the game. I soon learned that BW had other titles. I went out looking for them, Knights Of the Old Republic being one of them. Being a huge Star Wars fan I had to have it, but could not find it. (I am still looking for it, though.)
I read about Mass Effect and decided to give it a try. I bought 1 and 2 and popped in the first one. Having tried a lot of the other Sci Fi titles out there I was not excpecting much. A lot were good, but nothing every realy grabbed me. At least not until I played ME1. After creating my Shepard I hit Eden Prime rolling. I got some upgrades and leveled up and I was "Holy Hell, I like this". I got to the CItidal and spent 3 hours walking around trying to figure out what to do...but I was having fun. I was falling for this game.
My second playthrough I created a FemShep and found that the game did not play the same way twice. Hell, over a year later and another playthrough and I still find things that are differant then past playthroughs. I grew to love this game and the charactors in it. I finaly made it to ME2 and was totaly in love with the story behind it. Each playthrough I would sit and listen to the cutscenes, always following the storyline. I had played ME2 one playthrough a week for the past year waiting for ME3 to come out.
I reserved my copy of the deluxe edition and was upset when you changed the date, but I waited patiently for the release. I played through 1 and 2 getting my charactors and story line just right for ME3. And finaly 3 came out. I got it the first day and began playing. I loved the game...most of it. It had good game play. I loved the way the story went. I cried when certian charactors died. It was beutiful(sp).
Yes it had plotholes. A lot of things do. Star Wars, Star Trek and one of my all time favorite animes Robotech have them. I was able to live with that. The overall product overshadowed those small things.
I had read that the ending was bad, but not wanting to spoil it for myself I did not read why or what happened. My initial thought was that Shepard dies at the end and folks were not happy with that. Personaly I would have loved the fact that he/she died at the end. As long as the death ment something and was done in a way to evoke strong emotion.
Then I got to the end...and the emotion I got was confusion. I was lost. I could not figure out what just happened. I went to youtube to see the ending again and (I am sorry) it just didn't make any sence. I have played the game through several times (hell I am currently replaying all three) and the ending just leaves a lot to be desired. I could go into details, but there are threads and threads of why the ending is awful.
You guys gave me a charactor and said "here you go. take him/her, make your choices and do what you will.' But in the end you took all the choices away. You want to kill the main charactor, great. I support that. But let it make sence. Let the choices we as players made throughout all 3 games make sence in the end.
I am patiently waiting for your EC DLC and hope that with it the story will make sence. If not...
As a Star Trek fan i watched all the incarnations of Star Trek, except for Enterprise. Why? Because it made no sence. I didn't watch the "Clone Wars" series cause it made no sence.
What ever it is your doing over there with that EC DLC, when it's done PLEASE let it make sence.
I await your responce via the EC DLC.
Open Letter To BW (Hope Your Listening)
