All,
I played DA2 through a few times when it came out, but eventually moved on. Some part of me wants to play through again, and I was wondering if either of the DLC campaigns were actually worth the time/money?
Thoughts?
DLC worth it?

I would consider them worth it. I enjoyed both - the quests themselves were fun, the banter was hilarious, and the lore presented was quite intriguing.

Yes and yes. I liked them. And as stated above the party banter is great.
Also you get some more background on Thedas which is allways nice imo.
Buy and enjoy!

Both campaigns are fairly long (2-4 hours, depending on your pace), so they are worth it in that respect. I can't recommend Legacy highly enough - it's fantastic. Everything about it. You get a really nice looking grey warden set, too.
Mark of the Assassin...eh. It's very well made, but you're kind of force fed Tallis - she takes a spot in your party, and you don't even get to use the other normal companions you take for most of it anyway. If you like her (I thought she was alright, but would have much preferred a normal companion with her as a fifth wheel NPC), then you'll like it a lot. The puzzles are badass, and some of the banter and cutscenes are very funny ("Maker, am I dying?!")
Speaking generally about DLC...I also got the weapon packs. If you're going to go through the game again, I'd say the first one especially is worth it, particularly as a mage, because you get some really beautiful looking mid-level gear.

Legacy was amazing! Five stars.
MotA.... was alright. It had it's great moments, but I didn't find it as compelling as Legacy.
(Plus, whoever leveled Tallis..... did not do so very well... She was ALWAYS dying on me if I didn't focus on her, so bring a Maker's Sigh.)
But both are WELL worth the money... and, in my opinion, MUCH better than the base game.

I'd recommend both Legacy and Mark of the Assassin. I had fun with both, and it was more content for Hawke to conquer, plus it lets you get the F___ out of Kirkwall.
Since Tallis is made of glass (her lack of rune slots on weapons and armor doesn't help), I give her a ton of constitution, have her auto attack from range, and make use of back to back when her health is below 90%.

If you actually consider replaying the game, I'd say they are worth it. I have played and replayed both, and enjoyed it.

I enjoyed Legacy. It has an interesting story and a lot of great banter. Some of the fights are over-designed, but it's a lot of fun overall. I'd definitely recommend it.
I haven't played through Mark of the Assassin yet. I'm expecting to like it, though.

Now that Legacy is patched, I highly recommend it!

I liked both quite a bit, especially MoTA, although Legacy is not my kind of DLC, being a long dungeon with an intriging (and unsatisfying) story, well made, but still, just a dungeon.
MoTA had more variety, and had good puzzles and comedy elements (I didn't enjoy the stealth mechanic. I appreciate the change, but the mechanic didn't work well). The bad thing about MoTA is the annoying auto diaolg. It's everywhere, and I hate it.

Mark of the Assassin and Legacy are leagues beyond Wardens keep and Ostagar. Yes you should get it. Also the DLC armor caps look pretty.

I enjoyed them both. I think Legacy was a bit short but the customizable weapon was nice. Though honestly I played both mainly so I could get more questing with my LI
since everything else was locked out after and no newgame+.
And my LI wasn't even in my house post-campaign. *Lonely Hawke face*

They were both good...minus Tallis. I loathe her.

Thanks for the advice. I ended up grabbing them both. Will start the game up again tonight. Now I just have to remember where I put my Origins saves.....

They are both very interesting in terms of lore and gameplay. In terms of gameplay, they are far better than anything in the main campaign in my opinion.

I recommend them! Legacy is moody and there's a lot of DA lore involved, as well as a couple of interesting puzzles and great party banter. Mark of the Assassin was (imo) even better, with lots of humour and a geniune feeling of fun (albeit with a sort of dark edge). I thought Tallis was great, and if you've got the time, watching the web series about her might be a good start.
