Liara's missing dialog lines and the EC DLC
#1
Posté 26 avril 2012 - 02:52
as you all know the dialog of our favourite Asari missed a few important dialog lines after the Mars mission until the last cutscene before Cronos station. Liara reacts to people who romanced her since ME1 (and LotSB) the same way she reacts to someone who hadn't romanced her before at all. This is of course highly disturbing and contradicts the statement that players who stayed "faithful" would get other cutscenes and dialog. As far as i know the dialog is already written and Bioware somehow forgot to record and implement it. Of course it would be a lot of effort to invite Ali Hillis to record it and don't forget all the foreign voice actors for the various non-english version of the game.
But the Extended Cut Bioware an opportunity to solve that problem. The voice actors are already in your recording studio and the non-english voice actors are also going to record their lines for the EC in their various studios. They are all under contract so, i assume, that you could implement the missing dialog with little expense and would make many people happy. The added new dialog could either be added via the EC DLC or by a separate patch.
The writers can be proud of their work because they created unforgettable characters. Please campaign for the completion of your hard work, this is the best opportunity to do it. If you can't convince your chiefs, use a paper clip to add the dialog.

Like fixing Ken & Gabby's bugged dialogue, reintroducing dummied out lines for Ash, Kaidan & co, extend their romances as well as those for ME2!romances ...
Okay. I guess I wish for too much, but some LIs definitely need some love too.

LI's should all be equal, even if that means reducing some.

You would rather remove from some than add to others, as several have proposed here?

Liara, Garrus and Tali are the most pampered characters in the trilogy. Please, don't put more work into them, focus on characters such as Miranda, Thane, Jacob, Jack EDI, Vega, Kaidan, Ashley who need more content.

Otherwise when you start playing a ME game you feel put out because the content in it is based on a decision about how to satisfy the greatest number of fans at the expense of others.
To achieve this ideal with simply adding content would involve greatly extending all other LIs in a way I don't see happening.
Basically, I'm saying equality should be the priority. If financial constraints mean equality is impossible to achieve by addition, then it should be achieved by subtraction.

Wrex also makes a comment about her getting a more comfortable space if you have her romanced, and there are other things said all over the place if you actually pay attention to what's going on and don't skip cutscenes and conversations and actually bring her a long to missions.

I had a lot of extra cut scenes with Liara actually. During the trip to mars, she asks you how you feel about her, and you comment saying you want it to work. There is also a scene where she is having some sort of argument and asks how you are able to keep doing what you're doing and you say its the though of her and then she sits on your lap and gives you a kiss.
Wrex also makes a comment about her getting a more comfortable space if you have her romanced, and there are other things said all over the place if you actually pay attention to what's going on and don't skip cutscenes and conversations and actually bring her a long to missions.

Yes there is, and its great because whenever my girlfriend sees my character making out with her or kissing her at all she freaks out, its hilarious for me.
But I think there needs to be more time spent on Vega(Though I'm sure I'll change my tune after the movie comes out about him) and Tali Zoora Vas Normandy (ME2 name wins)
And Liara is the devs favorite character probably because she shows up the most Garrus aside

It's just taking ridiculous scale if Liaramancers get even more content than I did, even though she was 25% of the game for me already. Garrus' bro-content is nothing compared to her.maxtofunator wrote...

They should start focussing on the characters which got cut off to their 10 minutes of fame (Miranda, Jack, Samara...). I've honestly had enough time with ME3-squadmates.

Thats as stupidly selfish as countries in a famine saying that other countries should burn their food becuase they have more.
I agree that the other LI's should be buffed... a lot, but your statement is ridiculous.

Other LIs won't be put in because times devoted to different LIs are propotional. If Bioware believed that Liara deserves twice as much as the other LIs due to her large fan base, then she will continue to get twice as much content in any expansions.
This favouritism, I am arguing, is bad. But it will continue unless the proportions are changed.
The only solution to this is to reduce the proportions dedicated to Liara. If Liara fans want more closure with her in the EC, then simple logistics dictate that something has to go if everyone is to be even.
So you can either have reduced Liara in DLC, or reduced Liara in the core game. That's the only solution to the limited resources problem.
Either way Liara needs less attention in future.

i not like this, Li is my Li, why call my Female Shepard friends in the time capsule dialogue, this not have sense, and i need more dialogur and romance scene whit Shepard and Liara.

Actually, I think the "time capsule scene" should become a "LI scene".
Means for me:
Liara scene should have a bit more romantic context for Liara if romanced.
Also the scene should happen quite late in the game when ALL romances had a chance to get "locked in".
Therefore I want to see a time capsule scene for every LI.
Same for the scene after Thessia (Shepard needs some comfort too!)
Liara's comfort scene is fine, should come either in a friend-variant or a lover-variant.
In case she's just a friend, your current LI will comfort Shepard and tell Liara needs someone to talk to.
Something like that.
