How would you have written Ander's if you didn't like him

Also, what I really would have liked is more options for conversations with him at the end. I was in a romance with him, and I've just witnessed him murder many people. I need more than kill, go or die. I need a chance to elaborate. Like, "I'm letting you live, but no this, you will be punished for this act once we have saved as many as we can." I just felt your options with him at the end were too simple.

If it was a different character it also would've left Awakening Anders alone and Awakening Anders could've returned in a future game as a main or supportive character.
However as it is in the now canon that is not at all possible :<.
If those three characters were new people that would've created a larger picture for the Dragon Age world. Bringing all of the Ferelden folk back to all the games makes the whole world seem small :<.

The personality was so drastically altered from the original Anders that i honestly question why they bothered making him Anders in the first place. It would've been simpler to just create an entirely new model and a different back-story and get the same result without Fan-Servicing a previous character.
However, if forced into the point where it *must* be Anders?
I'd have started him off as the original personality format - Cheeky Chappy Charming Anders - and gradually progressed him towards Crazy Town. If they had done that, i would've appreciated the character a lot more.
As an Awakening player i would've been able to renew my fondness of the character and begun to care for him again, slowly beginning to worry as he began to lose himself to the darkness corners of his mind and his bottomless pit of paranoia.
New players would likely have been more inclined to like him as well...
This isn't to say Anders isn't a likable character to some people. I just honestly believe he would've been a hell of a lot more popular if he'd started off as himself and progressed into crazy over the course of the game.
It also would've lightened the "angst" load for the first half of the game.

After 12+ playthroughs that really highlighted to me how different the two are. I know why it was done but it did really make me miss old Anders.

also after he blows up the chantry, I wish my femhawke had the option to behead him instead of stabbing him

If you read Dragon Age: Asunder you will see how badly some Templars and Seekers and Mages were wanting a war. You would have to behead a lot of people on all sides to avoid it.

While is see why he may have dissapointed others, I still liked him despite the change in character (though we do get tid bits of his old personality, so he wasn't tooootallly different), not to mention I pretty much exclusivly romance him with the occasional deviation for variation.

When the handling of a character sparks discussion, something noteworthy has happened. It's not always good, but it isn't necessarily bad, either. Negative feelings towards Vengeance/Anders might be the right thing. Preferring the 2nd DA Anders might also be the right thing as well. Missing the Awakening Anders might be what they wanted, too. All of the above.

He is such a sweet LI. Not at all what you would expect from Justice or a madman that blows up churches

Anders is cute, and he was adorable when talking about Sir-Pounce-Alot. I often switch my LI between Fenris, Isabela, and Anders, but I still romance Anders most of the time. What he did was unforgivable. Still, I can't bring myself to hate him. He was at the end of his rope. His people were oppressed and killed on sight by the templars. He believes that a war is inevitable and just want to speed up the process. Even though I don't agree with his methods, I do see where he's coming from. Hopefully, they give us some closure on Anders in the next game.
Agreed

Pretty much this, hence why I just go with my Awakening Epilogue as to what happened with him afterwards.Knight of Dane wrote...
I wouldn't write him at all. Old companions should stay that way.
