Useless to me, already put off playing it for weeks, now I get to wait for another month or so until or if it actually gets sorted.
How could they miss this problem?
So many people seem to be having it.

What should have been first priority is the technical issues such memory leak long loading time etc cos it is much like the foundation of the game. Once that has been fix then the focus should be onto game mechanism which is less game breaking. Seems like this patch doesn't fix memory leak, long loading time.
It seems the memory leak and loading time issues are system specific. Many users including myself have not seen any sort of errors. Perhaps there is a common hardware or software or even driver specific issue. One example would be the Phenom CPU specific slowdown issue. Another is the AVG 9 antivirus crashes. Or the Creative X-FI sound card driver issues in Vista. Or the Realtek driver issues that may have been fixed. A lot of data must be collected to narrow down the issues.

When Oblivion came out, I remember a bunch of people blaming the game for a bunch of problems that turned out to be that Oblivion was largely the only game really taxing the hardware to the point of video cards heating, or heavy paging to the hard drive, etc.
They may be some bugs, but I don't think there is a universal memory leak given that there are some (and I suspect most) players who have no leak.
The game likely sold tens of thousands of copies (if not more) on the PC right away. If 50 out of 50,000 people are complaining about memory leaks, then people get the impression everyone is having problems because they see a vocal minority.

Acutally almost every one who has a AMD or just a quad core processor is having the memory leak issues thats causing the longer load times and frame rate drop, so thats a lot of people.

But there's a certain plot bug dealing with pretty much the most important decision you can make in the game that's terrible and, imo, really should have been fixed with this patch, or had a hotfix released for it by now.

I have an AMD quad core (AMD Phenom II X4 940 specifically).
I've heard everyone with Windows 7 has issues. I don't.
I've heard everyone with 64-bit had problems. I don't.
I've heard everyone with AMD graphics had problems. I don't.
Again, if dozens out of thousands complain ,that doesn't mean everyone had problems.

What? You don't know that exploit with the darkspawn blood vials? You can go to Duncan and keep repeating that dialogue and not long you can reach up to level 25.
I tend to close my ears to exploits.
This is a single players game, so if someone wants to exploit his game, I see no reason to prevent him. It's a conscious effort to do so, and you can simply choose not to do it, rather than requiring the dev to fix it.

I'm also disappointed that the patch didn't address bugs like wrong hi-rez textures and memory leaking.

I still average about 4 second load times. I've never seen these horribly long load times or memory leaks.

It's been confirmed as an issue with some AMD cards. It is not because those cards are under-spec (quad core people are getting it). So, while it's a vocal minority, it is a vocal minority who has a point.
It's not universal, but yes, it is an issue, and yes it should be dealt with--by bioware.
Just beause you aren't getting a bug doesn't mean that the people who are getting it are at fault.
And the general rule of customer service, by the way, is that for every person who complains, a hundred or more don't say a word. But they remember, and they may not buy your product again.
I have no issues with other games, including recent games with better graphics.
It's a memory leak, they need to fix it.

I've heard all those things. Yet I don't have a memory leak.
It can't be that it affects all AMD quad-core processors. The only way I could even see that being a possibility is if the game has optional SSE5 instructions for those processors, but I HIGHLY doubt that. They don't even put out 64-bit binaries, nor take advantage of DirectX 10 or 11. I really highly doubt they're using SSE5 instructions.
It can't possibly affect all Windows 7, 64-bit, or ATI users either.
It is only affecting a subset of users.
What game companies should do is allow the game to be started in a debug mode with verbose logging via a command line switch. When players have problems, they start the game in verbose logging mode, and upload logs to EA support.
That would enable them to better identify the actual issues at hand.

I'm a little confused why the elven boots thing wasn't fixed. Surely that's an easy switch? Box X, contents: ElfBoot Yes?
Still any movement is always good, there's a few companies out there that don't bother with good support, and I'm thankful that Bioware isn't one of them.

"During level up at the attribute screen first ADD points to the attribute you want to eventually take away from. Then press the "Reset" button. Now you can take away the number of points you added from that attribute and redistribute to a new attribute.
For example; lets say your character has 16 str and 16 dex when you level up. You want to take 3 dex away and add it to str. First add your 3 level up attribute points to dex bringing it to 19. Press the "Reset" button, which brings it down to 16. Now press the left arrow by dex 3 times to bring it down to 13. Now reassign all points to str.
If you want to reassign more than 3 points at a time, first add 3 to an attribute, press the reset button, add 3 three to the same attribute and repeat. Afterward when you press the left arrow by the attribute you'll be able to subtract the total number of points you added."
I was hoping that this exploit would be fixed as well. If BioWare's software developers aren't aware of this, then hopefully they will read this post and change it.
I am having some loading problems, but I think it is because my hard drive is failing. I'm buying a SSD tomorrow and I'm gonna work on installing Windows 7 on that puppy. :3

It feels like they're pulling a Bethesda on this. Drop it in the lap of the modders to band-aid with sub-par mods instead of doing proper patches.

What's wierd is that Marjolaine's Recurve is a longbow to begin with, and not a shortbow.KenRed wrote...

So, what about shortbows? Are they 50/50 str/dex like longbows? Anyone tried this out?
I was using the hotfix before and leliana's damage was 34ish with shortbow. (I went all dex). Now she is down to 26. I had to equip her with a better long bow, now, to get her damage up. Anyways, it kind of fits, because the way I was playing, a plain silverite shortbow was better for her than her unique Morjedilenes Recurve. (spelling) and that was weird to me.
The hotfix makes sure that all of the ranged weapon have their uses. That is far more important than Marjolaine's Recurve being the final solution for Leliana. The hotfix changes should be incorporated into the game and the Recurve should be made a shortbow, that's all.
