I'm German. On the rare occasions that somebody actually uses their mic instead of just sending annoying rustling noises and coughing, it's American English. Never heard any other language.

Could be that a lot of people speak american english, or international english as I like to call it, as their second language, creating the impression of a lot more americans than there are.

I get mistaken for an american on a daily basis. :innocent:

Höpöjä höpiset.

Come to think of it, I haven't heard scandinavian accent in the english speaking players ever.

Thohoo, salakeskustelu on salainen.

I would've thought discussing games in other languages would ****** people off, but since they always remain quiet I take it they're fine with it. :pinched:

"sorry something, i can read english". <-- I am 46% sure of this translations

If you go by count of characters, your translation is almost completely correct;
you got the meaning backwards, though :D

"申し訳ありませんが、私は英語が読みません。" translates to
"I'm very sorry, but I can't read English."
On that note, 分かる (wakaru) would have been more fitting, as
the conversations throughout the game are unfortunately limited
to auditive perception (*still waiting for text chat*)

Und, nachdem noch niemand im Thread was auf Deutsch gesagt hat
noch ein Extra-Hallo an alle Sprachverwandten

Sorry, but Я не говорю по-русски.

It's too bad that my connection to international hosts is so terrible. But hey, us New Zealanders and the Australians have some 'interesting' accents.

In all of the games I have played with people who have mics and don't speak english, only ONE, yes ONE group I have come across weren't utterly terrible. But, most of the English speaking people are pretty bad too so whatever.

I think Dookie was responding to the post itself, in a joking manner, rather than the topic of in-game communication. Since he says he's not able to read English, yet he couldn't have responded if he did not, barring Google or the like. Explaining a joke. I know, right? Very pedantic. Well, at least it was somewhat humorous when I read it.

Anyway, if one player, or all of the players, speaks a language I don't understand, I tend to just keep silent so as not to disturb their illusion of being in a game with people who understand them.

Täälläkö kaikki suomalaiset lurkkaa?

And scandinavian accent is a myth. :P It does not exist among gamers, since they have usually grown up surrounded by English, mainly AmE.

Hyvä Suomi! En ole kuullut kyllä suomea pelatessa...kerran englantia puhunu ruotsalainen tosi tuli vastaan

But yeah so I speak english when playing because most people can you it! And players may not speak it or don't want but they understands IT!

I'm Finnish and best part is that you can swear on different language and no one will understand! moral-:police: will not harass me :P

Bom... seria ótimo jogar com mais brasileiros ou pessoas falando português de vez em quando...

But since the majority speaks or at least know a bit of english communication is not a problem, it's nice to be able to chat with almost anyone who plays multiplayer. Sometimes my brazilian accent gets a little confusing and people don't get what I mean, but usually we understand each other and talk without problems. When that phantom is going to rape you from behind without you even notice, don't worry, I'll warn you (in english) Mr. Infiltrator Image IPB

I love hearing peoples accents and so far I had no trouble understanding them... when it counts ;) I like diversity. I just don't like it when people take over a lobby/chat room that is international and start talking in their own language all the time. That's just rude when you know there are people present that do not understand.

No idea how bad my own accent is but no one complained yet. Have been mistaken for Danish once.

ETA: i have heard Polish ( i only recognized because my colleague is using the same cursewords..lol), Russian ( I think..it sounded a lot like Metro 2033 ;) ), British, American, Malysian, German on ME..many more, especially Dutch and Scandinavians, in other games.

Since we are on the topic..is there anyone who understands Farsi? I am looking for help to roughly translate lyrics from a song. One youtube comment said it is Farsi. If you do know someone or could help me out yourself, please PM me.

Amen to that. but...I dont speak gaelic. I loved the language and love listening to some gaelic folk songs, but had trouble learning how to speak or even write.

@Moonsister, I am guessing you were referring to me for one of the countries :P

I was  :P

Gaelic sounds pretty cool, I made a fromer guildie talk to me in gaelic a couple of times. I was not sure what he was saying but he was a pretty funny Irish dude and not exactly coy when it came to dirty innuendos...so I probably don't rally want a translation anyway ;)

And yes, you Aussies and Kiwis do have cool accents! (and I am not only refering to Chase from House ;) )

Kudos on the Rammstein lyrics...made me think of Weird Al's interpretation of Smells like teen spirit

Even though I'm not German, this hurts a little :(

Anyways, I rarely speak since I cba with people thinking I'm an 11 year old boy. Besides, I'm always on Skype or Ventrilo. Only ever heard (American) English, and at times Spanish or Purtuguese while playing. Oh, and people with a British accent tend to talk to themselves.
