2- Find a way to reverse it. I've been changed on a fundamental level against my will. It's like surgically removing my ability to perceive the colour red.
3- Offer this newfound reversal process to anyone who wishes to take it. For free. The sheep who want to eat laser-grass can keep their 'upgrades'. I wanna go back to being me.
On an additional note, picture this: The world has been forcibly upgraded, but someone has found a way to reverse it at no cost to you. Do you take it? or do you keep the 'upgrades'?

Well, except for us gaining eternal life perhaps? Maybe we can control aging, disease, make sure we don't grow hungry ever again?
My god that sounds horrible!

Good luck with being an inferior being.
You don't seem to complain about how background radiation is causing you to mutate, i don't see you complaining about getting glasses or a hearring aid if it's needed, kneither do you complain about the quantum fluctuations that form our very being. Why so butthurt about becoming superhuman?
Transhumanism is coming, those who stay behind, well, remember the dinos?

If you have gained inside information from BioWare on how they indended the synthesis ending to play out over the course of time then please do share it with the rest of us.

Regardless, assuming people actually retain their memories, it would create mass panic as the realization would be firmly established that life significantly more advanced than us that is capable of rewriting us on the most fundamental level exists out in space.
It's a really bad option.

Do you think the ME races are going to stop on every pre-space flight planet and explain to them why their genetic make-up changed fundamentally in the blink of an eye? Talk about galactic chaos.

I would be curious. Then I'd explore what was new and make a judgment based on my experience.

I'd get over it. It'd be funny to watch you guys continue life with your freedom and personalities intact, complaining about some other thing.

QFT.
Actually, I suspect that apart from a few fundamentalists, most people would get over it rather fast.

I'd rather be an inferior being out of choice than a superior one because someone arbitrarily forced it on me. Background radiation isn't making that radical a change to my life (I don't see myself sprouting circuits or anything like that, do you?), glasses and hearing aids are my choice. I could tell the doctor to go screw himself if I didn't want them. And as for your point about being superhuman, I have to point you to Syndrome from the Incredibles:
'When everyone's super... no one will be.'
Being unique is what defines us. You're talking about forcing everyone into the same homogenised state of being. That's not a future, its an end. An end to culture, an end to advancement, an end to life. Instead, there would just be existence.
So... yeah. Cram your transhumanism. I'll stay me, and be better for it.

Who the hell knows? I mean if you're trying to draw a direct parallel comparison with the ME3 ending in order to justify it, then it would be remiss on your part not to mention the fact that we actually have absolutely, positively no clue what the effects of synthesis really are, or what they will be in the future. And that everything you're saying will be complete conjecture on your part.
There never was any pretense on the OP's part to say that he would be accurately predicting the future- we all knew this was a thread about conjecture due to the title "IF Synthesis happened today."
So.. thanks for stating the obvious

So here we are, humanity, a pre-spacefaring species, just minding our own business.
Then, out of nowhere, big green light Boom! We are all involved in a symbiotic relationship with alien technology.
I am curious what people would do since so many appear to have such a visceral hate for Synthesis.
Try and find whoever is responsible and hope there is some sort of authority that can deal with whoever is responsible for me and everyone else being violated by an unethical rewrite of my dna.
Though that's only representitive of half of the problem with Synthesis. The part that annoys me more is that it's in essence taking away diversity (though cosmetic differences remain) by making everything organic/synthetic and saying that somehow being the same as everyone else stops conflict.
I believe that we have to assume that free will still exists, but that just highlights another problem with the ending (or all endings really), very little context. Yet I don't see them explaining away Synthesis core problem because it largely states that by everyone now belonging to one new super group, but still retaining their individuality and free will they will stop fighting. It's like saying they didn't have enogh empathy for one another and now they have super empathy.

Yes, becaue it's just a geek thing to be outraged by someone unknown rewriting your dna and making you transhuman against your will. Ethical concerns are for nerds!
