Anybody else?

I'm a little skeptical in instigating discussion, considering that the film hasn't release in the U.S.

Was it good, or bad. Which was it closer to in adaptation wise? the last airbender, batman and robin, batman begins, iron man, or john carter(epic in action, where it counts the most).

I saw the Avengers earlier tonight (I'm in Australia). I thought it was good; great, even! Despite cramming a lot into 2.5 hours, the plot is still cohesive (with a few "... Really? That's how you're handwaving it?" moments), the writing is stellar and the action makes the little geek in me squee. (The Hulk steals the show whenever he shows up. XD) All in all, definitely worth a watch if you like superhero movies.

Can't see it in regular 2D, so **** the movie industry for shoving down their useless gimmicks on our throats.

The first movie I was eager to see in a cinema this year.

Wait, what?
It's not available in 2D? Only 3D?
My wife and I were gonna go see it next week when it's released here in the states. But if 3D is the only option, then I guess we won't be seeing it.

It's also in 2D, but it's true that many theaters are pushing 3D over it (at least here in Italy...).

Anyway, saw it on tuesday night (in 2D) and loved it :) I think I had a grin on my face the entire time.

We've got another Avengers topic, so feel free to use this one as a spoiler thread. The other can be for those who want to avoid. Just add a warning to the title.

LOL at the Yo dawg pic. I might as well dive in instead of
dipping my toe in the water. Also, this is my first time writing as someone who
got access to a film or IP before the masses do, so go easy on me. I'll be
diving in minor-spoiler territory, for sure. And I don't want to get
mass hate in the case my posts get picked up and become infamous for
"ruining the biggest entertainment event for everybody" But....here I
go, because I guess I do wanna sound important in some way. (lol)

Soooo..... SPOILERS!

I thought the film was very good, every superhero gets their ample screen time,
with Iron Man and Captain America taking up the most. The action scenes are
very exciting, and there are TONS of action in the film. I did not get to see
the Dark Knight Rises trailer in the screening I went to, it seems that trailer
is going to be a state-side venture. Neither have I got to see The new Amazing
Spider-man trailer.

The movie had tons of crowd-pleasing moments, I felt as if the movie was built
around that, and the dialogue and interaction between the Avengers were very
interesting and entertaining. Every Avenger get in a fight with each other in
one scene or another. One of my favorite moments had Iron-Man ranting off to
Captain America on how they have to stop Loki because he's a dangerous
narcissist who would erect monuments of himself, march in parades, make himself
known to his crowds, and construct large buildings dedicated to him, than Tony
Stark realizes that he's talking about himself too and calls himself a SOB. Yup, Stark
Building is back.

If there is one thing I don't like about the movie, it is that the film takes
place in too few settings. An hour of the film takes place on the SHIELD
secret airship. While there's action there, I thought that the airship looked boring.
From the airship, we get to outdoor New York City. the movie takes place in
only 2 or 3 settings, I felt that the Avengers could of ventured out more.

Even if the action was exciting, it wasn't necessarily intense. I notice a
trend in some of Joss Whedon's movie. He would be good at filming disaster
scenes (destruction, people fleeing in cries of terror, supervillain blowing up
cars) if he would just display some details of true terror, like innocent
bystanders being killed by the threat. No, i'm not trying to sound like a sick
person, but to understand what I'm trying to say, think about all the Michael
Bay Transformer movies. You see cars blowing up, but you don't see people being
killed. How is that emotionally intense? That's the problem with the Avengers,
but it's a nit-picky reason, that's all. ALTHOUGH, there is a scene in the
Avengers where a guy's eyeball gets sucked out.

If any of you are die-hard Hawkeye fans, you guys are gonna get jipped. He's
brainwashed by Loki for the majority of the film and he gets the least amount
of screen time and spoken lines.

I don't really understand the adaptation question from xsdob. I would
say.....Iron Man?

Oh, another thing. Pepper Potts is in the film. I know people are gonna like
that.

It sure had a lot of one-liners. I'm not saying they take humor to the next level or something, but people were laughing.

It was good. I feared it would be very messy with the many different heroes, but it wasn't.

If you like the Marvel stuff in general, there's really no good reason not to watch this one. If you don't, this one won't change your mind.

Yep. Almost goes without saying :)

It is available in 2D. Maybe not everywhere, but I watched it in 2D.

Think of Darkseid and who the Marvel equivalent is

Who has the brother with the rapey powers

Special thanks given to George Perez and Jim Starlin

*edited to correct hint*

Oh and it's after the fancy 3d credits- once it gets to the standard credit reel there's nothing more
