I wasn't too impressed with his DAO work and the DA2 soundtrack was even worse, typical bland fantasy music, nothing outstanding or memorable - I wouldn't mind if BW used a different composer for DA3, the worst that could happen is that we get more stereotypical high fantasy music.
I can still remember most of the Baldur's Gate II and Icewind Dale tracks, but I've forgotten the entire DAO & DA2 soundtrack.
IMO, IWD2 is prob Inon Zur's pinnacle sofar. But DA:O soundtrack is good and very solid. The thing is though, that he put the effort into the backing tracks rather than any theme. Prob a Bioware decision, lowering the costs. At this time EA were already owning Bioware so the really bad management decisions would already have began.
It's the themes one remembers from IWD2. Background tracks to fighting etc are repetive and never amounts to much of a musical experience.
I don't think Inon Zur felt either inspired nor inclined to waste his best ideas on DA2. He prob wasn't paid for spending much time. I also believe that the kind of music is some kind of collaboration with the DA2 creative team. Meaning they will tell the composer what kind of music they want, much like a movie director. And when you then consider the outright awful and disgusting taste that permeates DA2, well then it's strange they even chose Inon Zur.
And let's not forget about Jeremy Soule. (Though I'd also hate to see him involved in some nauseating EA JRPG project).
