Hello Bioware,
I own a plasma TV. I play my PS3 on it. I just wanted to pass along some info here: my TV is suffering pretty severe image retention where ammo/supply counts appear on the multiplayer HUD (left side). Notably, this is a high-end 2011 Panasonic, and as a neo-plasma display, it is fairly robust to this sort of issue.
I'm aware of the dangers of screen burn in, image retention, etc. on plasmas, but generally this isn't really a problem. In ME3, most HUD elements are slightly translucent, which completely obviates image retention issues. But, the ammo and supply (i.e., medi-gel, ammo packs, &c) counters appear to be opaque.
It would be really great if you could make all HUD elements translucent in Mass Effect 3, especially in the multiplayer. In particular, please make the ammo counters translucent. Mostly static solid white text is just asking for trouble for plasma owners. It seems like this would be a very simple option to implement, and HUD transparency is a fairly common option in most games these days.
I hope someone at Bioware reads this and might actually take it into consideration for future updates. Any other plasma owners out there notice this?
Bioware: Please make the entire HUD transparent (from a plasma owner)

I agree. I know people who play on plasma TV's. Coming from a LCD owner, I wouldn't mind seeing this change implemented. I hope they fix that for you guys. Good luck

I am bumping this since I have the same concern.
I can not play the game as long as I want due to worrying about this. The consumables on the left side are especially horrible.

Hunter mode seems to leave odd patterns on my tv sometimes...I have no idea if mine is a plasma or not. -shrug- luckily it's temporary and goes away in a few minutes/hours

I'm also a plasma owner, and I just put my TV in "snowstorm" (don't know what you guys call this) a couple minutes after playing and this seems to remove all picture retention for me.

I've tried a variety of "screen wiping" procedures, including the built-in one and other various slide shows, etc. Unfortunately it seems like the ammo/supply counters just left a faint but apparently permanent mark. I think the best thing I can try is to simply stop playing the game for a long period of time, but I can't seem to pull myself from it
In order to minimize the effect I've been playing the game with the TV calibrated to be dim, and I bring up the pause/score menu as often as possible (it hides the HUD elements). Anything to keep playing...still hoping for a transparent HUD option in a future update.

I don't have these issues but I fully understand them. I agree with this suggestion.

it would be very good if Bioware did something like this but dont keep your hopes up.
In the meantime, newest plasma TVs all have ways to protect from burn in effects. In fact it is not even an issue anymore, unless you completely go overboard, ie playing like 7 hours constantly with the hud up. I usually have game sessions of 2-3 hours and after each session I just leave my TV showing static (no signal) for 5 mins and I have absolutely no problems at all. Enabling functions like pixel orbiter will help too.
Do this and your TV is going to be just fine. As long as it is a fairly new plasma.
