So, I'm nearing the end of Act One on my sixth play through. (Dual-wielding rogue is really fun to play! I think it's the most fun I've had in combat, although the Blood Mage/Force Mage combo was also awesome once it got going.) I'm just about ready to head off to the Deep Roads, but I'm considering playing Mark of the Assassin before I do.
On the one hand, that Sky Horror is probably going to be brutal on Level 12. On the other, I've never played it during Act I before. I'm curious if there's any acknowledgement that Hawke is a peniless nobody who has somehow found his or her way to a fancy Orlesian party. Is Hawke's lower status ever mentioned in dialogue?
Mark of the Assassin in Act I?

The only thing I can remember concerning Hawke's 'lower status' is about his/her mother by lady De Launcet when having a conversation with her on the party in MotA.
The dialogue depends though on the choises you make for Emile.

How is that possible? Hawke only gets to deal with Emile in act 3.

The Sky Horror fight is not mandatory (you can complete that side quest without it).

I played MotA after the quest involving Emil in act 3. Depending on your decisions there you can get different dialogue. If you let Emil have 'his one night stand' you will not hear about Hawke's mother.

Also I think the launcets new hawke's mom from before she left Kirkwall. So there is Dialogue in regards to that. Also there is mention of it at the very beginning of the quest.
