You forgot to list all the pros of using xbox over PC - you know, to back up your claim.
Oh yeah, because there are none - apart from the xbox being cheaper - thats all.

Why spend a whole week typing non stop typing only to be told "Idc if your amazing facts and logic, pc is still better".I'll spare glorious xbox that rocket.

Even from console side I remember when this generation started game dev' and publisher were crying about how much money they need to invest now to make the same game they did before.

But that cost increase would be the same for the PC anyway. It's just a console generation represents a bigger leap where as PC upgrades are more incremental. (does not include the cut of Sony/MS/Nintendo).

More people own £300 consoles than £3000 PC's and that's what it comes down to. If PC owners want top of the line game, they are going to have to shell out the money like any luxury market. Of course pirating will preclude any publisher from taking that step.

A console can't get a lick of recognition without you pc elitest dismissing any good quality as preposterous and trolling because in your pc only world if it doesn't play at 1080p, it must be junk. The xbox may only play at 720p but that minor con outweighs the pc's need to be constantly upgraded every time a next gen game is released so as not to burn out your flimsy graphics card and processors. We console gamers had no need to over clock our consoles just to enjoy games like crysis and skyrim without being sent into lag hell.We console games have no need to monitor just how much drive space we use up on our consoles! We console gamers...I'll get off my soap box.Elitest pfffft

So it is just like I said, the only pro you can come up with is the money. Thank you for proving my point.

Again - what kind of moron forks out 3000 quid for a PC?

Please, stop posting that kind of nonsense. You get a good PC system for about 400, 500 quid tops. And you don't upgrade constantly.

I suppose it is impossible to post a thread with "pc" in the title without starting an argument. Disappointing.

I don't think that gets the cost ratio quite right. Sure, you can pay 10x the cost of a console for a PC. But if you do, you're either very rich or very stupid.

Oh it can go higher than that. But that's mostly bells and whistles to show off.

Yeah sure, even when I was building my own that would get you just above average.

If you want to be turning down options you do. And if you are going to play on less than the best settings, well you may as well buy a console and save yourself the hassle.

Exactly

But even if you're very rich I would opt for the second option.

Completely down to tastes. Personally I like the mods and possibilities PC gaming offers. And I certainly don't need another piece of hardware.

I paid about 650 for mine, but that was 5 years ago. Since then I've only upgraded the g-card to a 6870 which was last summer.
I play the Witcher 2 with max settings(1920x1080) except for Ubersampling.

Used to build my own so it was cheaper. Got to a point though where I was buying maybe 1 or 2 games a year and then once I gave up on MMO's, it was just not worth the cost.

I've spent about £800 on hardware this generation , but I could probably cover the 5k in games Image IPB

My hypothesis does not depend upon the Witcher 2 being any good, it was simply an example.

But for the record, I quite liked it and I might like it even more with the 10GB of free additional content I've just be given.

It does, kind of though. The Witcher 2 releasing free stuff and all of that is only possible because the devs are disregarding the whole issue which your premise is based on. They can afford to be PC exclusive and to release free stuff because they have a very profitable side-business giving them financial security (GOG.com). Just like Valve can afford to not release new games until they're exactly how they want them because with Steam running the way it is they never have to worry about the money.

PC exclusives are not only financially unsound, but your premise that we would see benefits as a result is flawed for that reason. The people who are showing benefits by being PC exclusive have other means of income supporting their business.

And the fact that ME1 was released on XBox first and nobody had heard of it before it hit the PC.

With that kind of coin you could've bought nearly 10 xbox 360 systems or 1 with a boss collection of games and Ms points.I don't believe that choice was made in your best interest.

I like having my laptop for strategy games and older infinity engine RPGs...but I also like having my xbox for ease of use and any game where you play in 3rd person lol.

But I don't think PC exclusives are "a safer bet." It just depends on the game. I wouldn't want to play a total war game on the xbox. But ME2 is one of the best games I've ever played, and that released on 3 platforms.

While I don't share your Xbox fanatism I'd rather spend the money on games than hardware, which is what I did.

Um ... no? It was a Bioware release, everyone had heard of it. Bioware was big before Mass Effect, y'know.

Well I don't consider you a moron, if you have the money and are happy to spend it then that's nobody's business but your own.

I would consider myself a moron however, but not very very long as my wife would kill me.

Some people like to drive a Rolls if they can afford it.

Even if I had that kind of coin I wouldn't invest it in a PC system. But I certainly wouldn't invest it in a console either. And that's totally a matter of preference and taste. The console just doesn't offer what I expect from a gaming experience. Mods, individual tweaks and the likes most prominent on my preference list.

Let's see, there was Buldur's Gate - a PC game. KOTOR - a PC game. Both of these were big hits, granted.

Jade empire was released on XBox first and it's total sales? 700k.

Yes people had heard of Bioware before mass effect, those people were PC gamers.

EDIT: Yes I'm aware I'm not listing every single game they made, I'm just saying Bioware wasn't well known amongst XBox owners, most of whom probably don't play RPG's.

If you follow the logic you should not mind paying £300 for a PC game. As I said earlier though no publisher is ever going to do that because people will just pirate it.

PC owners basically screwed themselves and with no large casual market to take up the slack publishers have gone elsewhere.
