Why don't they create new consoles every couple years instead of every 6 years or so? That way, the balance between PC and consoles would be a little more even.
Pretty much this. I play on xbox and PC, and consoles need to have a lifespan of 5 years at the most. The leap in technology and resources becomes to great.
As it was there are numerous things absent from ME3 because of hardware resources and more and more games are suffering from the same issues.
However, I also support a reasonably long life span for consoles because what developers are able to squeeze out of the older hardware now is pretty amazing, its forced developers to find new ways to work around hardware limitations to get the best result. Things like ME3 look great when running on an ancient laptop and run smoothly because they've had to push the envelope.
PC and Console need to act in unison in a sense. With PC being the one pushing the next level of graphics / audio / technology - and the console refining it and cleaning it and find those ways within the boundaries.
Something akin to what The Withcer 2 has managed to do - on PC at max its amazing, on xbox its not as good but totally blows games from a few years ago out of the water.
