rofl, now this vitriol guy is so butthurt he's crying to me in PMs over 'insulting' him over fanfiction. Get a grip dude.

I own a PS3, Wii, DSi, PC and an Android tablet. I enjoy all of them, but PC is by far the best gaming platform. Anyone who says otherwise simply hasn't had the experience to be able to form an objective opinion.

No more than any of the BioWare games that have come before or after it. In fact, I would dare say TW1 was less gratuitous than any of the Dragon Age or Mass Effects.

So ... when that elf chick screws me as a reward for saving her life in that sidequest and I'm treated to a nice view of my character doing her from behind ... that's not gratuitous at all?

Have you played the game?

Yes. Why would I be talking about it otherwise?

YOU as the PLAYER CHOOSE to screw the elf chick. The game doens't force it upon you.

You can't criticise the game for giving you that option, you taking it, and going oh this is so bad of them.

Yes actually, it turns out I can.

Just because something is optional depending on how you play the game doesn't make it's inclusion not reflective on the game itself. If there was a game which allowed you to kill children, or rape someone ... what defence is "well, you can choose not to do it in the game if you don't want to" really going to be?

You cannot call yourself a mature, adult video-game, and then include the option to have gratuitous sex for absolutely no reason with seemingly half the women in the damn game.

As a role playing game, and playing the character of the books who in the books was totally in love with money and sex, yes the option to continue playing as that character is a good thing and in line with the reasoning of the story.

Its never in there for the sake of it, its in there because you as your character decided in your role playing mind would be a good reward for your character.

Just takes a little brain exercise to see that buying a funbox is not only bad for the industry but more espensive in the long run.

Uh huh. I'd rather spend money on a console and then have money left over for games, not spending money on continuous upgrades and a blisteringly expensive rig.

I'm an adult and I have meaningless gratuitous sex pretty often, does that make me an immature child ? And please that has NOTHING to do with rape/killing a child those are a CRIME. Pretty horrible ones too...
You really need to learn to make a point.
Why don't you just say "Ididn't like it" and leave it at that ?

Um ... we're talking about fiction, mate? You having sex in real-life is different to releasing a fiction which depicts you having sex. And killing a child or raping someone isn't a crime to write about.

I don't know how to respond to that. You've got fiction and reality mixed up.

Right. So why did they choose to depict me getting my "reward" with a 30 second scene of me graphically pounding her brains out from behind, instead of doing it in a more tasteful manner?

Writing about someone who's in love with sex and money doesn't mean you have to depict those themes in an immature fashion. Which is exactly what The Witcher 2 does by offering you, the player, sex scenes as a reward for completing side-quests. Please, try and defend the game's maturity when it comes to that?

Or maybe you'd rather play Mario Bro's and C.O.D for the next 5 years cause that's all the innovation consoles have to offer...and another platformer or two.

Console devs are stil doing the same sh*t after 20 yrs.

Way to miss the point :)

So i'll explain in better words :
First you said that gratuitous sex was immature not me or I misundertstood in that case forget what I said ;)

Second I'm saying comparing rape/killing a child with gratuitous sex with women is stupid.

F*ck COD, just f*ck COD.

I haven't seen any PC title shaking the industry to the core either.
What's your point here?

Really, you might want to stop. Because what you just said amounts to "When I said it was mature and arty, I meant apart from all the bits which make it not mature or arty". What would "basic logic" say about that ...?

It's not hard, I'll show you:

Mass Effect is a good game.
Mass Effect has a bad inventory system.
Contradiction: A good game cannot have a bad gameplay element.

I'm amused that you can't understand this basic concept. Adjectives are rarely treated as absolutes. Please dig yourself out of the hole you've fallen into before speaking anymore.

Nobody's going to defend a game where you can go around having sex with multiple women a rewards for beating quests as "mature". That's a dealbreaker as far as that's concerned, unless you want to turn around and defend the sex?

Actually, they are. Primarily because it's a minor aspect to a twenty + hour adventure revolving around a political narrative, with a million other elements to it which quickly bury what you construe as gratuitous sex. It's a deal-breaker as far as you're concerned and only you. But not everyone has your weak stomach, for the record.

Want to know how much gratuitous sex I was presented with the entire game? None. Imagine that.

Because if you're the kind of player who chooses sex as a reward - you want to see it? Since you chose sex as a reward - would you prefer an option come up depiciting different types of sex? Or if you would like the screen to go black and return you to the game? Because if its the later - why choose sex as a reward at all?

of course my word is god, because I primarily game on a PC...  I don't expect a narrowminded console kiddie like you to understand.  To know God is to know PC gaming.

And what if my motives are to support independent and indie devs that I couldn't possibly support on the funbox?

Once they go mainstream you'll call them out on being mainstream and sellouts.

*sigh* It's over, ok? It's done, move on.

I have the three current gen consoles and a decent PC. Most of the time I prefer to play on a console though. I guess it's more of sense of relaxation for me. I already spend a lot of the time on the computer for work and at home(email, internet...)

As for the question, I don't think it would be financially feasible for most companies to release games exclusively for one system whether that is a PC or one of the consoles.
