Hello ... Ok, so I have both Dragon Age: Origins and Dragon Age II. I have gone through the both of them without a problem before, exporting saves from Origins for DA2 and all. The thing is recently, when I tried to start a new game on DA2 after having neglected it for some time while I completed another play through on DAO, I noticed that something was wrong with it, or more precisely with the saves.

As I said before I have completed both games at least once. Concerning DA2, I have the save from the completed game and 2 more that weren't completed yet. Today I tried to start a new game so i could import some new achievements from DAO, but that's when I noticed that all the previous saves from DA2 I had were missing. That's at least in game, I couldn't even click on the "Load Game" part, as if there was nothing there.
When I saw this I went to check on my Characters folder and all the previous characters are there with their saves and all. And yet, the game reacts as if there were no characters created at all.

Not only that, but after seeing this I resigned to the fact that I wouldn't be able to use any of them and created a new one. When it came to the part where you have the option the import your saves from DAO there was another problem. There were no saves recognized. I didn't get the "No saved data from DAO can be found" message or anything of the like as I've seen it happens for some. It was just as if nothing happened, there was just a blank space, no saves shown, but no error message either. The game was still working normally, you could still go back and continue fixing your character.

When I saw this I went to check my saves from DAO, in game and the folders as well, and everything was there. This being said, I have no idea of what's going on.

I tried starting a New Game despite of it and that's when I discovered that those aren't the only issues I have with the saves of my game. It seems to be that I cannot save my game either, not manually or with the Auto-Save feature.

Also, as an extra note. This is not an issue of my games being from different regions, I bought them both at the same time and have imported saves from DAO to DA2 before.

So ... Can anyone please tell me what's going on and how I can fix it? It would much appreciated.

Not sure if you got an answer to this, or what operating system you're running, but I had a similar problem with DA2 and Windows 7 recently. Try setting the DragonAge2.exe to "Run As Administrator". The exe is located in the bin-ship folder in your DA2 program folder. Right click / Properties / Compatibility and at the bottom of the tab check Run As Administrator in case you're not familiar. Don't set the Launcher to RAA as the game won't start.

May not help, but it won't hurt. The game was running fine for me without this setting until recently. I suddenly developed a myriad of problems that were all fixed by ticking that little box (keyboard unresponsive, flaky saves, etc). Might help someone else at any rate.

(As general advice, it's really a good idea to install games outside of the Programs folder on Win 7. UAC and DLC don't seem to get along).
