Anyone have any input on how these titles stack up to one another? Critic reviews are useless.....Or if anyone has any other recommendations. If only Skyrim had good combat I'd just stick with that but the mechanics of Bethesda games I find turrible.

Dark Souls look amazing but i haven't played it myself yet.
Amaulur is tricky, i didn't like it but a few of my friends did. It's an interesting title but i never felt engaged with the characters or the story. The combat was amusing though

Kingdoms of Amalur was ok, but I wasn't a huge fan of the art style. I did love the Chakrams, however. I wish more games would have that kind of ranged weapon. It was very much a button-smasher of a game, I thought. Varied scenery, which was nice.
Dark Souls is difficult, and if you're fine with dying (a lot), that would also be a good one.

I'm leaning toward Witcher 2, but how are the graphics on the 360? On PC it looks incredible...anyone know how well it made that transition? Looking at screenshots online doesn't really give a good indication.
I am playing it on 360 now. While obviously not as good as on PC, for an Xbox game, it still looks pretty good. Easily one of the best looking games on the console.
I recommend installing it on your hard-drive should you get it.

I personally own all three, which is semi-ironic. In what I believe to be late Act 1 of TW2 and 27 hours into KoA...and last night I finally went to my second region outside of Dalentarth.
I haven't played Dark Souls yet because it is going to get my sole focus and attention and I have a feeling its going to be a gem. A crawler / RPG with very mature, dark and even grotesque themes, with fair but very challenging combat, a massive world to explore and good loot that needs to be found? Unforgiving and requires proper utilization of everything? Count me in!

I've died more times in one playthrough of Baldur's Gate and Divine Divinity than I have in Dark Souls. It's hard, it's challenging but unless you've been playing Call of Duty on easy for years you should otherwise be able to handle Dark Souls and like most of the RPG's of old, enemies don't scale with you and by the end of the game you'll find yourself one shot killing many enemies. Most people who say that Dark Souls is the hardest game ever made clearly haven't played Baldur's Gate, Divine Divinity, Dragon Age: Origins (nightmare difficulty) or the Halo games (on legendary difficulty).
Get Dark Souls if you're looking for a traditional type RPG with lots of exploration, customization and fun combat.
If you're more into heavily based story RPG's then get The Witcher 2.

Jesus Christ, Dark Souls isn't that difficult. Baldur's Gate is difficult. Divine Divinity is difficult. Dark Souls is simply challenging and like the two previous games it isn't afraid to kill you. It's that stupid marketing scheme (prepare to die) which is saying it's impossibly hard but it's not. You shouldn't struggle against the bosses if you make a good build. I noted that as melee based classes, the game is easier - though still challenging - whereas with a magic based class, the game is far harder.

Really? What type of build did you use in dark souls if you don't mind me asking?
From what I've read it sounds like magic based classes are the most powerful. I've only done melee builds so far but I think I focused too heavily on damage and not enough of survivability, so I'm considering restarting. The boss fights aren't the hardest part, it's the lack of saves and the constant need to not make any mistakes (considering I don't have any health) which becomes the main problem. I didn't have any problems with DA:O on nightmare and haven't really played the other games you mentioned, but Dark Souls is probably the hardest or most frustrating game I've encountered - probably mostly because my top-loading dps method doesn't seem to work.

Madness. Dunno what you're talking about. Dark Souls is about the most punishing and frustrating RPG I've ever played. Looked pretty though, Baldur's Gate was a complete walk in the park difficulty wise, and the game doesn't actively try to punish you like Dark Souls does.
OP, I'd avoid Dark Souls if you're looking for a less stressful play experience. Haven't tried the full version of Amaular, but the demo was pretty easy. Still I think its a bit pricey currently. I'm waiting til the price drops substanially.

Also was considering Deus Ex:HR and Alpha Protocol...would you guys put those up with dark souls and Witcher 2? Worth checking out?
and thanks everyone
I loved both Deus Ex:HR and Alpha Protocol. I'd reccomend either of them over your original list.

The main one seems to be it will require Games for Windows Live. The other is that the textures won't be that good for PC. Might be other rumors, but those are the two I caught.

Deus Ex: HR is also recommended and it's way better if you are stealthy and you like to explore the world. Really great atmosphere.
Alpha Protocol is the game I liked the most between the ones listed here, but it's also the one with the worst combat and gameplay (especially if you don't use stealth and pistols). An odd and unique game.
Amalur I tried the demo and wasn't amazed, it seemed to have a really weak story (combat was ok). I have Dark Souls, but I only played it for a few hours: I liked what I saw and I really need to find some time to finish it...
