HI guys, had a couple questions I was wondering if you could help me with, can't find the answers in the manual or the codex.
1. Can I return to locations on the world map later on if needed? I'm in Lothering now, and don't have anyone who can craft poisons for one of those questions. Can I return later to complete this? My only location so far is Ostegard and we know what happened there, just not sure how linear the story is.
2. Completely removing status effects. My Mage has the frost weapons skill learned, and it of course subtracts from his mana when activated. I know I can open the combat wheel and unselected, but it seems like it always get selected again automatically later on. Will this happen with any status effect I learn? Is there any way to completely deactivate a status effect like this?
Thanks!

you didnt say if you wanted spoilers so
1) usually...bad things happen to some places...
2) sounds like you have a tactic autocasting it or something. without tactics your characters won't do a damn thing unless you tell them to

1) To add to the above. Something bad is going to happen to Lothering, specifically. Not too terribly long after you leave it. You won't have time to find someone to craft the poisons for you.

Thanks guys, helps a lot.
One more question, I'm playing a Mage and heard that at levels 7 and 14 I can specialize finally. I just hit level 7 and never saw an option to specialize while assigning attributes, etc. I assume this is somehow quest driven then?

you shouldve got a spec point (says on the left on the attributes screen somewhere). to actually choose a spec you need to unlock them in various spoilery ways. they stay unlocked for subsequent playthroughs.

Yeah, the specializations can be a pain to unlock and I often found that I was level 10+ before I got the one I wanted. A few can be found as books to buy. It might be possible to pursuad Morrgane to teach shape shifter with a good reaction total but I don't find that useful myself. The arcane warrior can be found in the Bresilian forest part of the story. Don't know where blood mage comes from but Wynn who you can pick up at the mage tower section can enable other mages to learn the spirit healer option.

this isn't entirely true. You can leave Lothering, go do the 2 DLC areas, and still go back to Lothering. Moving on with the main story is when soemthing bad happens.
