I must be part of the minority then because I cannot stand the idea of IT, that everthing was a lie. Because that is not preferable to the crap we got, both are just as bad.

Well yeah, that's the whole point of indoctrination, which is pretty well drummed into the player throughout the series.
I find it somewhat interesting, but it appears those against IT believe their Shepard could not possibly be indoctrinated, he is some kind of super being immune to such things.

Instructions from their PR department. Keep people guessing.

Possibly. But by using this strategy, knowing the majority of the fans like the IT, if they come out and disprove it, they will have more rage on their hands. Makes sense to dish it now if it ain't true.

IT is not that everything is a lie. It's that when Shepard gets blasted, he begins to give into the Indoc that could easily have been happening since he saw the kid in the vent of a building that just exploded. He kept seeing the kid and shadowy figures in the dreams as some have described in Indoctrination of the previous games. The "lie" is supposed to begin when Shepard gets back up, not the whole game.

Then, the IT starts making up stuff based on coincidences that sloppy work caused as if Shepard is still on the ground, imagining he's gone to the citadel.

That last part is what makes me reject IT.

I think tis mostly a PR move. Last week EA released EURO 2012 for Fifa 12 as DLC, then when people downloaded it 29 out of the 53 national teams were licensed, and 24 were just generic made up players/uniforms, this was not announced prior to release.

Needless to say, people are p*ssed off. Considering a decent amount of people feel as if they got lured into a bait-switch, expecting to have paid for an authentic, updated, complete roster of teams/players for the tournament. Then after receiving the product finding out that was not the case. Announcing this prior would have definitely hurt the sale of the DLC.

With IT and the EC same is true, if BW denies it now a lot of people are gonna be pissed, and then just not bother with any other DLC, that would be bad for EA/business. They gotta keep people on the hook as long as possible, if not they lost potential $$, and thats all their after.

this^ I've said it before but this person says it better, its a pr move to keep the sheep docile and paying, we've forgotten that we aren't sheep and keep playing and Paying EA for the "emperors new clothes"

Good thing the Prothean VI agrees with me then.

*sigh* Most likely everything (and I mean everything) is mum until the EC gets released. They don't want Hudson, Gamble, or Walters to pull another Molyneux and promise something that ultimately doesn't happen (or was grossly over-exaggerrated and misleading).

I can understand that, but at the same time, it paves the way for annoying speculation.

Oh well, I suppose all I can do is wait for summer to roll around.

You can believe it or not believe it without their answers, and they can release the Extended Cut without completely confirm or dismiss it, so that people who believe it can continue to say why it is true and people who want to believe something else can. It's not a "headcanon vs canon" battle, it's just showing some resolution as a fan. You don't need their words, just keep a hold of your beliefs.

"its not a headcanon vs canon battle".  Umm yea, thats actually exactly what it is lol, and to truely have an end for the game the player needs to know what the f*ck is going on, not headcannon some BS ending and act like that is somehow good game design. Whether its IT, or something else, or just plain f*cking bad writing, the EC needs to 100% explain the context of the events taking place. You do not make the 3rd entry of a trilogy (aka the ENDING) the one entry in the series open for interpretation. Especially when the narrative path, prior to the last 10 minutes, was set and clear to the player for the first 2 games and 90% of the 3rd.

IT isn't real it doesn't make business sense, why release a game without an ending that people have to download later? What about people who don't have hard drives on their 360's they''d never get the ending. The endings were weak and didn't live up to expectations I can only imagine how hard it would be to please everyone and it's obvious that the path they chose didn't do as well as they'd hoped. I still love the game though and kinda just accept the end wasn't as good as I'd wished.

IT allows them to have an ending that casual gamers will be fine with and EC if it Proves IT true would make for an awesome twist because conspiracy theorists so rarely get a break and are right...

It's funny how little of a **** I give about Mass Effect now. Even if the DLC is amazing, even if the ending is fixed, it doesn't matter. Outside of multiplayer I can't be bothered to play any of the series again. I hope they do include Shepard being indoctrinated just so I may have a small reason to take a second look at the biggest letdown in gaming history.

So there you have it. Are we proud of the game we made and the team that made it? Hell yes. Are we going to change the ending of the game? No.

IT reminds me of Schrödinger's cat. We will know if IT is alive and kicking when we open the EC DLC box sometime this summer.

Only at that moment will the feelings of vindication, rage, or disappointment (take your pick of emotional/logical responses to the clarified endings) begin to be real. Why would Bioware destroy some people's hopes for their Shepard's story before they actually have to do so?

Because Shepard wasn't indoctrinated yet... Pick control or synthesis and you will be...

Furthermore, there's nothing to state that the Prothean VI's .. both on Thessia and Ilos don't just sense the Reaper implants in the indoctrinated subjects. Not the actual subtle form of indoctrination.

I'll say one thing;

If the IT is wrong, and the EC explanation is something far more idiotic/nonsensical, I'm Done.

With Mass Effect.

With Bioware.

Maybe With Gaming.

I've spent far too much time and money on this franchise to have it all turn out to be this big of a goddam travesty.

I agree.
I would like to know who came up with the brilliant idea that having the fans creating the ending themselves as headcanon was good writing and artsy. Protip BioWare: It is NOT!

I don't believe in IT myself though. As many others have said it gives BioWare far too much credit.
But should it tun out that BioWare adopts the idea I wouldn't mind either. It's still better then what we got.
