Did we ever find out why there were no female dwarves in Kirkwall?

I don't mean some silly lore reason, I mean a real technical justification. Obviously it has to do with cutting corners, but how? We had male and female humans and elves all over the place, why not dwarves?

Do any devs have any input on this question?

Don't know if we'll ever get a "straight" answer other than not enough resources.

It really doesn't seem like something they would do out of spite. I mean, who doesn't love Dagna or Sigrun???

The best way to ensure the return of female dwarves is to make at least one a party member.

All face models underwent an overhaul. Maybe they ran out of time to perfect the female dwarf model. That's the reason there were cats in DA:O but not DA2, anyway.

You just didn't notice them for females with their beards and husky voices.

It's less noticeable than human or elven women not being there. The Witcher and Arcanum did the same thing.

1) Couldn't think of a proper, important dwarf woman to put in the game.
2) Save time and money by just not bothering.

Because the female dwarf leg-slit nighty was simply too hot for just an M rating.

Keep your dirty pictures away from Sandal!

(...poor kid should be about grown up by the end of DA2. It would be nice for him to have a girlfriend or boyfriend or something next time we see him.)

Looks like they were listening to Gimli to much:

they weren't a necessity like elven and human women, so they decided not to spend time creating a new morph model and rig for them.

Regardless of the reason their absence shall be rectified for DA3, or the entire dev team shall feel my wrath.

Female dwarves are the thing I missed the most from DAO. (Well, female dwarves and item descriptions.)

Given that there are only four significant dwarf characters in the game, though, I guess I can see why they decided not to bother. The only way to have a female dwarf be important to the existing plot would have been for Varric to have a sister instead of a brother.

I want female dwarves in DA3!!!!!!!

Gimme a balanced out population that's logical. No female kossith is explainable in DA2 but all races but the dwarves had males and females walking around.

I'm gonna go with lack of importance to story versus effort and money for why. Though maybe Kirkwall female dwarves aren't quite that outgoing and sociable of a group of people.

Personally I'd rather see female tal vashoth two handed warrior as a companion than a female dwarf.

The Witcher game world never had them though. The Witcher character models in general were rather.. sparse. DAO did have them all over the place.

To those who said they weren't important to the plot, well yes, but they could have existed as background NPCs. Intead all we got was male dwarves wearing pretty much the same outfit.

Probably, but I'm wondering what that reason is.

Yeah, that's probably what it comes down too. More cost cutting. Adding female dwarves and making a dynamic city etc wouod cut into the profits by .00001%. Can't have that!

Are you suggesting a Kossith/dwarf lesbian romance in DA3, sir?! Deplorable, I tell you, deplorable!

...this totally gets my vote.

Time or laziness. Pick one. They 100% of the time NEVER have both races ever. Look at any game. They didnt have f dwarves, Qunari, Female Turians, Female Krogans(that 1 in ME3 doesnt count since you dont see her), took a game to get Male Quarians... I hate Bioware's laziness. They had the designs and yet never implement them. I wanted to Romance a Female Qunari or female Dwarf, but...nope. Wasn't even invited to the party.

Have to go with laziness. If this was something new, I would say different. However, ME showed that Bioware doesn't seem to care about females that are non human.

I don't see how this is surprising there were no female dwarves in DA 2. The damn game was missing a lot. No offense or anything but I think if the developers were not so, well, greedy to cash in on the next DA game, we probably would have had female dwarves, among other things.

No excuses for DA3.
