If the Darkspawn wiped out all traces of humanity what would they do next? Would they try to reconstruct the world in their own dark, twisted, image. If so, would repopulate the world until there is naught but a sea of Darkspawn covering the planet. I wonder if they would evolve gradually, and deal with population density. It would be an interesting concept if they created their own civilisation with their rendition of societal values. It would be rather amusing if there were Darkspawn Architect, et cetera.

That reminds me of Ultima VI, where you fight the daemons and then find out they have their own society with their own virtues and it was kind of a shock they were neat.

Well, they couldn't kill off everyone since that's kind of how they breed.

They will die, note they do not have females to reproduce, they need to get them from the surfice, I'll put an exemple what happen if we eat and destroy everything in our world? thats exactly what is going to happen to the darkspawn.

They wont have a society or anything close to it because they will starve to death before any of them come up with a set of rules , laws or farms.:lol:

They would turn Thedas into a giant fleshy meatball to fulfill their ultimate goal of pleasing the FSM and crafting themselves in His Noodly image, ramen.

They'd probably create a domineering society where they'd only come up every hundred years to take females and then vanish.

They wouldn't die. The taint sustains the Darkspawn -- per Gaider. He said they don't need to eat. They do so because they can, not because they need to -- making them immortal. But not invulnerable. We fight an ancient Darkspawn in DAO and Corypheus has been alive for 1000-2000 years IIRC.

All that would happen if they wiped out humanity would be that they'd be forever alone in their immortal state.

Well maybe it won't be that boring. I mean they'd probably take to fighting each other or any survivors who manage to sustain a small isolated population somewhere and who is to say that some of the more smarter Darkspawn among them (Disciples) won't simply enslave some of the races?

Either way we can surely say that they will twist and transform the world into what looks like something out of a nightmare. Wildlife would be corrupted too but it would still exist.

It could be that once the Blights had reached their conclusion, the Arch Demons could gain some semblance of sanity? If they could then lead the darkspawn, it's possible they could then not remain so brutal and insane?

Or maybe the Blight is just a destructive, unsustainable force of nature so out of balance with the world, if left to spread, it would turn the world, including the darkspawn, into nothing dust and ash.

Technically, the taint turns the Wardens into ghouls, who are immortal, as Avernus was able to live centuries without losing himself to the Song because he used blood magic to slow down the effects of the taint.

Actually the taint drastically shortens the lifespan of those infected down to just a few months. The only reason Avernus lived for so long was because of the blood magic he'd used to prolong his life, in addition to holding back the effects of the taint. The reason the Wardens live for 30 years is because they treat the blood before they drink it. It's not pure darkspawn blood that they drink, it's magically treated.

30 years or so before ghoulification, which is what we learn happens to all Grey Wardens in "The Calling". It's what happened to Larius. 30 years or so is long the Wardens live before the corruption of the taint makes them succumb to the Song. That's why the Grey Wardens sacrifice their lives fighting the darkspawn in the Deep Roads.

Yes? The Grey Wardens drink treated darkspawn blood (not pure) which slows the taint down so that it takes 30 years to become a ghoul. Then they've got a matter of months to live. My point being; ghouls aren't immortal. Quite the opposite in fact since their lifespan is a number of months.

This isn't correct. Avernus manipulated the taint to slow down his ghoulification for centuries, as I explained above. The Architect's Grey Warden bodyguard, Utha, is a ghoul, and has been for years; so is Hespith. Broodmothers were even explained by the developers to be "specialized ghouls".

Grey Wardens aren't usual ghouls however. Given that it takes them decades to even turn into ghouls then it's no wonder that they might survive for some time as ghouls, beyond the short number of months that most ghouls usually live for. Hespith wasn't a ghoul for very long at all either. No idea where you got years from. So yes. Hardly "immortal" like you falsely claimed.

Hespith and the others of Branka's House were gone for years in the Deep Roads. Ruck became a ghoul five years before The Warden found him. Utha has also been a ghoul for years. You might want to get your facts straight next time you claim someone's information is false.

I checked the codex on ghouls, and it does indicate that ghouled people only live for a few months.  That does not do anything to explain broodmothers, however, or Utha and Ruck, does it?  I was also under the impression that ghouls became a sort of darkspawn, including the immortal bit.  I'm guessing it's just another oversight in the writing that got overlooked like so many other things.

Slightly off-topic what I find interesting is the cannibalistic tendencies: as TEWR pointed out, darkspawn don't need to eat, they just do.  But ghouls, apparently, also develop a cannibalistic impulse, as a response to the taint.  I wonder why this compulsion happens, if it's unnecessary for survival.

ETA:  I need to retract this a bit.  I confused the Codex with the Wiki entry.  The wiki entry on ghouls mentions the bit about ghouls only surviving a few months, but it should be noted that there is no citation for this.  The codex itself, that I confused the wiki entry for, says only that ghouls rarely survive for long.  It's not at all conclusive, though, given the presence of Utha and Ruck and the Wardens, etc.

So basically what you're telling me is that you're still wrong and there's nothing about them being immortal? Another point of interest; nowhere does it state that Ruck or Utha have been ghouls for years. They could have survived as humans for years and only been recently infected in the few months prior to meeting the Warden, as is likely the case given that ghouls don't live for very long at all, as stated in canonical lore such as the codex entries. In the rare cases they do, such as Avernus or the Wardens, it's because the taint has been magically repressed.

Never heard anything about ghouls turning into darkspawn either since the games just say that they invariably die after a short period, or if they're female they are turned into broodmothers. The only case I've heard of proper humans turning into darkspawn is the original Tevinter magisters.

We have examples of ghouls who have lived as ghouls for years, so I don't see how I'm wrong in pointing out that we have examples of ghouls who don't expire after a few months. Ruck , for example, ate darkspawn flesh for five years.

Five years does not an eternity make.

On top of which you only have one dubious example, and it's dubious because nowhere does it state that he was a darkspawn for five full years. He could have survived as a human for four and a half and only recently turned into a ghoul. Which is the more likely scenario since official sources tell us that ghouls don't live very long.

It's still longer than a "few months".

I provided examples that address that ghouls don't merely live for a "few months", like Utha, who has been a ghoul for over twenty years; Tamlen, who is a ghoul for almost a year; primarily Avernus, who was living for centuries because he slowed down the effects of the taint.

You're wrong on both counts--Utha became a ghoul during the events of the Calling, years before Origins/Awakening.  It's less certain for Ruck but there's ZERO proof that he was only a ghoul for a few months so your own assertion doesn't hold much weight either.  But again, your thing about them surviving only for a few months is an UNCITED claim from the wiki.  Unless you can provide a source for it, it's meaningless.
