Just received Dragon Age II disk for Mac from Amazon.co.uk.

DVD in drive.

Tried 10 times to install, crashes on gathering files for installation step every time.

Have tried copying the DA installer to desktop and lauching from that...same thing, same crash.

I've read through everything on here for a solution and this is leading me to think that there really isn't one...unless someone's come up with something new in the past 8 months since last post!

Can anyone help please?

Have quadruple checked that all system requirements are met - as I'm in France I do this religiously to save me having to send stuff back to UK, so system spec is not the problem.

Here it is though:

Processor - 3.06 GHz intel core 2 duo
Memory - 4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3
Graphics - NVIDIA GeForce GT 130 512 Mb

Running Mac OS X Lion 10.7.3

Any ideas anyone?  Really frustrated by this.

Okay managed to get it to install - after making a copy of the disk image onto desktop - another 8gb eaten up.

Now it won't activate. For ***** sake?!!

Does anyone have any idea why not?

I have tried to activate through the launcher for the game - it just hangs on the Activate you game screen with 'validating' but nothing happens...waiting waiting.

Have tried doing it through 'my games' on ea account - but just says could not sync your dragon age 2 account at this time. please try again later...How much later? An hour, a week, a year??

Come on shouldn't all the mistakes have been ironed out by now nearly a year later from launch?

If anyone can help an extremely frustrated person, i would be most grateful.

Similar issue, have it installed on my iMac. Tried to play today after being away for a few months. It hangs on the "Activate you game screen" with 'validating'. I have played it on this machine many times. Have correct activation code and email.

That sucks! I played on an iMac with no problems, so it isn't your computer. Have you tried reading through this thread?

What I think might be happening, and it is a pure guess, is that the Installer needlessly adds "/Volumes" in the installation path. OS X uses the Volumes folder as the mount point for disks other than the boot drive. This is evidenced by the fact that Terminal dislpays the boot drive (in this case "Macintosh HD") as:

Macintosh HD -> /

Which means that "Macintosh HD" is actually a symlink (the arrow) to the root folder "/". Since the "Applications" folder's default location is "/Applications" the Installer's default path is reduntantly adding "Volumes", which may somehow be confusing matters.

Again this is a pure guess, but once I changed the location from within the Installer to "/Applications" it installed immediately.

Hi kavatica, yes that was the thread I came across as well. So I managed to install it by making a disc image but the problem is now validating it so I can play...seems to be a problem for a lot of other people too not just for mac but for pc. from what I gather the problem is at ea's end and they're apparently trying to sort it, according to other posters...me I've yet to hear back from them!

I think I know the problem. I was a good follower of EA so I registered all my games (including my active Mac ones) on Origin (using my PC in the house). So once it needed an update and followed by a re-validation I was pulled into the compatibility issue of Mac with EA Origin.

Is this also part of the issue for others?

I need help. Please EA, give me back my Dragon Age II.
