His eyes start to turn yellow, pretty sure he was turning.  I also had him amputate his arm.  In retrospect it wasn't very realistic, him doing all that jumping and heavy lifting when he was probably already dehydrated and undernourished before getting a limb hacked off.

Would have been interesting if that choice had some kind of narrative repurcussion beyond some changed dialogues- like maybe it slowed down the infection to the extent that amputee Lee is able to make it farther than non amputee Lee or something.

Huh, I also had the scene where he locks Lee behind a gate, shoots Ben and then gets eaten.  I agree with Gibb that it didn't make a lot of sense.

Ah, looking that up online and yeah, it actually plays out quite differently with Ben versus without him, which is nice to see. Since I let Ben fall down the clock tower in Episode 4, Kenny accidentally knocked the walkie talkie out of Lee's hand while walking across the rooftops and into a dark room through a hole in a roof of a building they were walking across. Christa then jumps in after it only to realize there are walkers in there. You then need to try and quickly find something for her to grab to get out, but after that fails, Kenny jumps down, boosts Christa out and shoots at the walkers until he disappears in the dark.

Not sure I can call it GOTY because it just isn't much of a game.  Doesn't overtake Dishonored for me.

Yeah... it was a great interactive experience I guess.

I actually did a quick rewind with another save to see if going alone changes a lot. In the same save I also decided not to cut my arm off and the first thing i noticed is that in the elevator sequence Lee almost falls down. Didn't play much further but that was something i noticed.

I made her shoot Lee. Lee didn't want to become, and didn't want Clem to know he'd become one of the Walkers. He made sure that she knew it's what he wanted, and that she should give possible others in the future the same courtesy. Anything is better than becoming one of them.

Anyway, wtf was up with the Kenny sequence? There was no need to sacrifice himself. He just had to shoot Ben, and leave with Lee. The scene seemed as if the writers were trying to get across that Kenny was sacrificing himself to ease Ben's suffering, but it looked so ridiculous due to how easily Kenny could have gotten out of that situation. Hell, he could have shot Ben from behind the gate.

The way to make that scene flow logically is for Kenny to just have a death wish. He just wanted to die suddenly. But then that just completely screws with the sentiment he put forward no longer than 5minutes prior; the whole "You can't just give up" thing.

Something was seriously amiss with that scene, and is likely why i didn't feel anything other than utter confusion with that particular point.

Well, now I'm glad I let Ben die in Episode 4. Kenny's sacrifice made so much more sense in my game, when he did it to save Christa and her unborn child.

Similarly, I'm glad I took the stuff from the car in Episode 2, because otherwise the scene with the Stranger wouldn't have had near the impact it did.

Kenny dying to save Ben made sense to me. They reconciled in my playthrough and Kenny wanted to try and save Ben not just leave him behind and kill him. I guess suggesting to kill Lee in the attic made Kenny realize he was being a bit of a dick at times. I was sad to seem him go but not terrible upset about Kenny not making it, he wasn't my enemy but wasn't really my best friend either. My BFFs were Carly and Clem.

What bothered me was how largely useless Ben ended up being, gave him every chance at redemption, forgave him for getting Carly killed, Kenny and him even reached a sort of understanding and then he just randomly falls without doing much of anything.

How I viewed Kenny's sacrifice if Ben is alive is this: It was a split-second decision made in the heat of the moment. He wanted to buy Lee and the others more time. If you notice, you don't see Kenny get taken down. You hear Ben pleading "Kenny, please!", you hear the gun shot and that's it. I believe Kenny shot Ben and then ran, having the zombies chase him down the alley, getting the bulk away from the direction Lee had to go.

He may not even be dead. He may appear in episode 6-10. If he is dead, he probably got surrounded as he exited the alley.

That's my vision on things, anyway. It made sense to me.

Kenny stayed behind to buy you time because there were too many walkers now. The gunshot was to probably put Ben out of his misery.

Both Kenny and Lee knew that Ben's greatest fear was reanimation, Kenny didn't want to let Ben go through that and used his only bullet on him to spare him that. It was touching.

Touching, certainly. Heroic sacrifice, definitely.

But I don't think Kenny needed to actually stay there with the Walkers. So it seems like a pointless heroic sacrifice when Ben's alive. When Christa's alive, it's much more natural. Kenny could've still made amends with Ben without pointlessly sacrificing his life.

Still, I maintain that Kenny survived by escaping into the sewers! He'll be back, just you watch!

Just finished it. Sick ****. Sick, great ****. I kinda wished there were more personalized Clem epilogue sequences, but that is about the only gripe I have with the whole game/interactive experience. GOTY!

If a game manages to force me to take a break because I'm completely overwhelmed by emotions it definitely did a lot of things right. Lee is one of the coolest protagonists ever, and Clem is probably the best child character I've ever seen. And Kenny... damn, Kenny. Such a great cast of characters, and such powerful writing!

SPOILERS below:

My Lee... lost Ben in the tower, showed everyone his bite and convinced Christa, Omid and even Kenny to help him. Didn't cut off the arm. Told Christa and Omid he wanted them to look after Clementine. Kenny sacrificed himself for Christa. Lee told them to wait for him and Clem at the train. Told the stranger he was sorry, but that he didn't know everything. Told him taking the stuff from his car had been neccessary. Had Clem attack the guy with the cleaver. She also shot him in the end to save Lee (poor, brave girl!). Had her handcuff Lee at the end. He told her to get to the train and the others, to always remember cutting her hair and that hed'd miss her. Then she shot him.

It's not that hard for emotional stories to get me to cry, but games rarely manage to do it. Man, did I cry this time...

I know. The problem is because of how easily Kenny could have escaped. The scene only makes sense if Kenny wanted to lead the horde away from the group, which isn't even insinuated. But it's the only thing that makes sense, so i'm going with it.

@ Dave - It was touching. Especially for my Lee, who was Kenny's BFF. That was when the tears started and the loud cursing began. I really wasn't expecting Kenny to die. It was hard. Image IPB

That's the way I saw it too.  Kenny could very well still be alive.  Christa even hints at this by asking if Lee actually saw Kenny die.  I wouldn't be surprised.

As for the game, loved it.  First gave ever that made me tear up at the end.  Voice actors for Clem and Lee totally nailed it, and the work in Clem's facial expressions during the whole moment are great.  I loved Lee showing her the bite, and her just having the epiphany and going "No no no no no! NO!"

Seriously, the writing nailed it out of the park with Clem.  She was adorably sweet and likeable IMO, and during the post credits scene I was just going "please be Omid and Christa!  PLEASE BE OMID AND CHRISTA! pleasebeomidandchristapleasebeomidandchristapleasebeomidandchristapleasebeomidandchrista!"

Fantastic.

As for those that slag on it for not "being a game," that doesn't fly with me.  No, the game's strength is not its gameplay.  The adventure game aspect of it is pretty straight forward and not overly challenging.  But the game is more than a sum of its parts.  The narrative is amazing and even though the narrative isn't as branching as I'd like it to be (I understand why it's not, I just would love for games to provide more divergence), it does such a good job of putting me in the game as Lee.

When I watch a show and see Lee decide to save/drop Ben, I can empathize that that is a difficult choice.  When I'm controlling the character, it's not just Lee that has to make that choice, but myself.  My Lee started off a little ambivalent and secretive, but Herschel knocked that right out of him in the barn.  In the end, no matter what he wasn't going to lose his humanity in the plight and was willing to take on the burdens of everyone else if it helped them.

By the end, he was the honest leader.  Kept it true because they all needed to trust each other.  People seemed to respect that, and the look on Kenny's face when Lee tells him that Ben wanted to be dropped because he's wracked with guilt over all the harm he's caused is when I knew it was going to be a great episode.

Lee did the best he could to save everyone from doing the crap stuff.  Duck, the kid in the attic, all that stuff.  He made those choices so other people didn't have to.

In my game, Lee was a gigantic mother-effing hero and in the end made damn sure he wasn't going to hurt anyone after he passed.

A game like Call of Duty has more intrinisc gameplay, but I'd rather have more Walking Dead's than Call of Dutys.

Looking forward to more Telltale!

Lee also says something about Kenny "could have made it out." Which implies that Kenny ran. I would imagine Kenny would be screaming if the zombies were tearing him apart.

The voice acting was simply amazing. Clem's emotions when she found out Lee was bit tore me up--not to mention the goodbye and watching Lee slowly die. It's a game that left an deep emotional impact, that's for sure and rarely has that been the case with me.

About the ending scene--I think it was Christa and Omid. I think the worried/shocked look on Clem's face was there because she was scared to call out to them for fear it may attract walkers. Kind of that paniced, "What do I do?!" Especially with Lee telling her to treat everything as something dangerous and to always be careful.

I am very interested in episode 6-10. I have this fantasy that Lee was just faint and weak from blood loss and that Kenny will find him and help him get well and they'll set out to find Omid, Christa and Clem. Mind you, I said fantasy because I don't think it's a snow ball's chance in hell that happening. It's just a little balm to soothe the pain in my gut over it. lol

Absolutely. I think it was Omid and Christa too. Clem probably couldn't tell (they were tiny silhouettes) but I'm sure there was a hope, and the bit of apprehension when she realizes she's been spotted was great too.

He's screaming in the Christa version. He yells that you guys should run, he yells at them to get off him and then he tries saying he'll be fine but he goes quiet (I'll... I'll...).

So I just got it and have to say...holy crap this game blows a lot of other ones out of the water.

I mean its so personal and intense I almost jump out of my seat every time something happens.
Not even that far in but I have to say that so far I am staying loyal to the people who gave my characters a ride.

I told Christa and Omid that I wanted Kenny to care for Clem after *I* died. Since it gave the option, I really didn't think Kenny was going to die. After I heard about his death with Christa, I was glad I saved Ben. I don't think I could have stood Kenny screaming.

I'm not "slagging on it."  <_<  A movie with QTE's is not much fun for me gameplay-wise, and I don't identify with a third person character.  I liked it for the story, but on the rating scale it slips because of that.  Everyone has their preferences.

The fact that other people share my view that the Ben scene was just as ambiguous on Kenny's "death" as the Christa one was makes my heart soar.

Not I don't feel like I'm in so much denial over it. Unless we're all in denial.

Which would mean that the Walking Dead succeeded. We just can't even fathom the possibility of our beloved yet flawed Kenny having died.

For the record, those were more screams of anger then pain. He's just letting out some battle cries then as he's fighting them off.

And you never really hear any chomping sounds that would indicate he's been bitten.

Kenny's probably coated in a crapton of Walker blood, alive, yet really ****ing exhausted.

The train was outside the city IIRC. And that's where Lee possibly told them to go.

And one figure walks like Omid does with the limp, I believe.

Weren't there zombies coming in from both sides of the alley though?

They were, but he could have pushed through them. Most likely would have gotten bitten in the process,  but with a purpose, adrenaline and fear motivating him, he could have plowed through them. I mean, Lee did, basically. He only had one arm and a meat clever, but his purpose was getting to Clem.

@Gibb_Shepard -- You never see the direct path Lee's group took from the train. That could have been the outskirts of Savannah, which I believe it was. Also, one of the figures did seem to have a slight limp and was shorter than his partner, IIRC, which would make sense if it were Omid.
