Is it necessary to patch all 1.01 (either a or B) before 1.02 or will all changes be included in 1.02.

Additionally for future will the most recent patch always update dragon age from whatever version its at on that given PC?

Just trying to get my head round how the patching works considering core game changes, single player campaign, DLC and who knows what else is on its way.

I believe the patches aren't 'totalized'...

As for the future... sadly enough this is not an forum that receives much active support from Bioware and/or EA... so can't say

Yes I've been googling around to discover if I need to apply the previous patches before applying 1.02, as I'm just installing today. I see no post which addresses this.

The game configuration panel says v1.02, but unless someone explicitly says that 1.02 includes the previous patches, I am skeptical.

There's also daupdater.exe, which wants me to browse to a "dazip" file. Don't know what that's about.

Well I just applied the latest patch to a vanilla install and in the patch notes after the install it does mention the fixes from 1.01.

.dazip is the zip-format for Dragon Age updates... handy for when you need to manually download and install an DLC due to the *cough* crappy *cough* download system ingame.

@ Baba (not going to write THAT fully out...) : ah ok :) nice to know

Yes, I saw that too, but that doesn't necessarily imply 1.01 is in there.  It is common for change logs to contain the whole history.

I merely wish for someone with "authoritaay" to declare whether or not 1.02 contains everything.

Clarity in patching is important, past experience has led me to be cautious in this.

Modders would also like I imagine some visibility on what may have been changed to enable the creation of updated mods.

I gave up on googling. Even though the game said it was at 1.02, I went back and applied 1.01a, 1.01b, and then 1.02 again, in that order.

I suspect I know why daupdater isn't being used: it produced an error when I ran it after the initial install. It works now, after the patch.

So the patcher needed a patch, but since the patcher had an error, it couldn't patch itself. The bootstrap couldn't get off the ground, so patch exes which were distributed instead. At least I suspect so.

Ok, now with the 1.02 patch has anyone encounter a problem? I am not talking about error 36 because thats not occuring but when I downloaded the patch and opened it (it ran no problems) but the game hasn't changed I still have the same problems such as dex bug.
