Well after playing for a few weeks all of a sudden today (4/27/12) I try to launch ME3 as usual and I get to the "Press Any Key" screen and I get an error saying that Origin is no longer running and Mass Effect 3 is closing?!?
It worked fine for weeks!!
What happened ?!?
Kingdoms of Amalur works fine, SWTOR works fine ... ME3 stopped working for some reason ...
Running Windows 7 Pro 64 bit, 8Gb RAM, Radeon 6750 2Gb VRAM
Origins no longer running Mass Effect 3 will now close error

Well after uninstalling and reinstalling Origin ME3 is still not starting up. Keeps closing saying that Origin is not running when it is ....
Task Manager shows Origin running but ME3 says because Origin is no longer running it closes? But Task Manager clearly shows Origin running.
Anyone else had this problem? Is there a way to fix it?

On trying different things I noticed that if I tried launching ME3 directly rather than from in Origin I get a "Origin is not installed, required to play your game" error ....
Origin is not showing up in the uninstall any more either Windows control panel nor Revouninstaller.
I can run Origin by launching it and then if I launch Amalur Reckoning and SWTOR from inside Origin they run fine but ME3 still says Origin not running even though it is ... Launching Amalur or ME3 from their own executables and not from in Origin gives the "Origin not installed" error.
Something has happened to the Origin install but I am not able to figure out what that is. Since I cannot uninstall it (even though it is installed and I can launch the app though ME3 will not run anymore) Origin is apparently not installed properly anymore ...
Any suggestions on how to fix this problem?

I have the same problem. Only I stupidly uninstalled Origin, and now when I try to reinstall Origin can't even connect to the internet.
I tried one of the posted solutions on the net to flush my DNS, power down my router etc but still no luck.

Holy Cow! turns out its something as simple as time and date on your computer. I am now able to connect to Origin to download and can connect to ME3 to play

Well the time and date on my computer are fine and current to my proper time zone. Always have been ... I just wish I knew what caused the problem in the first place because things were fine I was playing ME3, Amalur, SWTOR every day for weeks w/o any problems whatsoever and then one day BOOM! ME3 will not launch anymore ...
What I ended up having to do is got the Origin Help and found a post on manually removing Origin from your computer. A lot of steps to follow and have to use regedit to edit the registry and all but it completely remove Origin from your computer. Apparently uninstall does not do this.
After following the elaborate process of manually removing Origin, I re-installed from the original ME3 disc rather than a download. Origin then installed correctly and updated correctly. And now I can run ME3 as well as Amalur and SWTOR w/o problems.
Something had gone wrong with Origin somewhere along the line. I do not know what or how or even when. Things worked fine for weeks and then one day is just upped and would not let me play ME3 anymore.
If you get this error, try the manual removal of Origin to ensure complete removal of Origin from your system including the registry entries etal. Then reboot, Re-install (from a disc if possible) Origin and it should clear up.

I did updated Origin, that had no effect on the error. I had to manually remove Origin from my computer using regedit and then re-install Origin from the original disc and THEN update Origin once again before this issue could be resolved.

I'm having the same problem, I wonder if something got screwy with the registry. My problem was my internet connection cut out on me last night, so EA Origins disconnected. That was fine and expected.
However, when I reset my computer and tried playing the gameI was having the same problem as you. I'll try the regedit solution and report back when I get back home tonight.
