I am disappointed in Bioware. They're usually top notch with the humorous dialogue, but they dropped the ball with Sandal. Dog should have a cut-scene with him...



Dog: Woof!

Sandal: Enchantment?

Dog: Grr!

Sandal: Enchantment!

Dog: Woof! Woof!





Etc... Etc.... Until one of them gives...

hehe if you payed attention when you heard the story from your dwarven vendor he is actually not his father but he found Sandal wandering around in the deep roads and Sandal does not seem to have trouble to end up in a place riddled with darkspawn and demons of every possible kind at the ending either ... which makes either makes him a greater demon than anything you saw in game or he's the most innocent creature you ever met which can simply not be touched by evil.



he reminds me about a girl in the series The Seeker. of course there's an evil mage involved who wants to destroy/control the whole world and there are good guys fighting against that. in one of the episodes they encounter an 'untouched' which basically means that she's immune for any kind of magic, nor can she use it and it's basically the total lack of magic capabilities or a way to be harmed by magic actually makes her one of the most powerful opponents for the mage. i like to think about Sandal in such a "disenchantment" way, he can simply not be corrupted by the taint or be possessed by a demon.



however i think his own comment on that would be: enchantment!

I have the theory that is the Maker itself.

Like in lord of the rings, when the hobbits find Tom Bombabil, such a powerful character hidden in a child's skin, probably Eru playing to be human.. as Gods like rolling dices

So Sandal is the Maker itself, seeing the history passing by and having fun. In the last scene, he shows covered in blood...how? Is he able to fight or just casted a dissintegration spell and had fun? He just was waiting for the hero to finish the Blight and see the show in the first line.

Serious theory: Sandal was a scavenger that ate darkspawn flesh while lost in the Deep Roads, thus losing his mind. This allowed him to stand around and watch as Darkspawn overran Denerim (they ignore anyone who's eaten others liek them, or so Ruck says) and then wandered into Drakon. Since Drakon is a major fort in Denerim, the city's defenders retreated in there for their final stand when the city was attacked and killed the Darkspawn we see lying around the tower. Sandal strolled over and stared in silence.

The truth is, 2 archdemons were able to escape. One, being the smarter and more selfish, decided to bide his time and allow the resources of Ferelden to be expended. He even goes so far as to assist in killing the other archdemon to rid him of any competition. Now Ferelden's armies are in tatters and and the Wardens have been devestated. He will re-gather the darkspawn armies and over-run Ferelden and we will battle him in Orleis in DA2.

My theory for the reason why Sandal ended up where he is:

The devs decided to put a merchant near the end so the player could pick up some potions for the final battle. Rather than try to explain why a merchant would be there (of all places), they just tossed Sandal in so they could watch the confusion on the game's forums.

The pile of corpses added to the atmosphere, as did the blood splattered on the poor dwarf.

Maybe Sandal is Morrigan's baby!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He would have the archdemon soul in him (morrigan couldve lied and it wldnt be the soul of an old god) and Sandal used the magic chicken fairy to send him back in time so he could kill people!!!!!!!!!!!! Everything is going according to Morrigans plan....
