Why take a chance and romance someone in a future trilogy if there's the chance the writer's forget about your LI? Why torture yourself hoping your LI is a writer's favorite?
I mean, I was going to go back and romance Thane in ME2, but seeing what happens in ME3, why bother? And since there are no new male LIs for femShep, replayability goes down the drain.
All LIs need plot armor of some kind to prevent what happened to LIs not named Liara (and Garrus on a smaller scale). Or, if the writer's can handle the effort, just limit the LI to one person.
And just because Kaidan's and Garrus' romances were awesome, doesn't negate the lack of choice.

Even JAVIK as a romance option would even things out a bit. It would be incredibly awkward... but at least it would even it out :/
You know what? I would. I was that starved for male options. Before anyone says "garrus was awesome" he was and is and will always be my fav LI ...but the point of mass effect is replayability. They can't expect straight female players to romance the SAME TWO PEOPLE over and over every single time . Now I say two because of what happened to Jacob and Thane. I can’t count them as romances anymore because to do so is an INSULT to what bioware did to them. So now if straight ladies want a FULL romance experience they need to import it in or have kaiden alive otherwise they have bat for the other team or be forever alone.
I think I’m JUST as mad about all this as I am about the endings. I put myself in the shoes of gals who's favourite option was Thane or Jacob and how slighted and p*ssed of they must of felt when they found out the romance they were looking forward to continuing most was neglected in the worse ways possible. They nuked two established romances that were just as legit as every other ME2 romance at the time and didn’t even bother to add new options. I had no reason to believe that picking Thane or Jacob would result in cruel punishment down the road. And the word is punishment here, there is ZERO enjoyment in the continued romances for both of them (not why I play video games bioware). Ironically this is the game I feel most alienated in when it was supposed to be the game that femshep got promoted the most. All I got from these limited choices was a clear message "your choices don't matter as much as the guys . Your choices matter so little we either forgot they existed (Thane) or that they weren't worth putting effort into (Jacob)"
It might have meant something if the guys had gotten dumped/dissed by some of their flings, too, but HECK NO!
I mean, I'll be honest, I stayed true to Kaidan, so I'm pretty happy, but I can see where this is irritating because I am a straight woman myself and there really isn't near the variety for us as there is for any other demographic in the gaming world even though statistically speaking we outrank both gay women and gay men in reality.
I have nothing against gay men and women having their options too, but whatever happened to equality? If we're only getting two options, then everyone else should only have two options.

While I think Liara is a great character, I don't think she's a very interesting LI.
Traynor is a big improvement when compared to Kelly, but it's all like "Hi, I'm your assistant, so let's have sex, okay?"
And don't even get me started on Diana Allers. What's up with that useless addition?
I would have gladly traded Kelly, Traynor and Diana for Ashley, but unfortunately, it appears FemShep drew the short straw there too, as they decided to turn Kaiden bi, but not Ash. In stead, you get Diana friggin' Allers
Still, while I'm obviously more of a F/F person, I totally agree that the male options aren't exactly fair. The images sum things up perfectly
Actually, I don't get why they don't just add like a sexual orientation option on character creation and change all NPC interactions accordingly. That way, anyone can get what they want. While it may make less sense, it will also be more fulfilling to those who saw their LI go down the drain.
Ugh, I kind of needed to vent, since I'm not exactly pleased to learn that Kaiden (who, at the very beginning of ME1, like pre-patch or on the Xbox or something, was straight) suddenly turned bi while Ash (who's actually bi in ME1 pre-patch) is now 100% straight. Add that to the fact that I just finished ME3 for the first time, and you'll get that I'm not in such a great mood at the moment

Me too! As I recall he was intended as an Li but for some reason they decided to change it.

Well that is just annoying, maybe they plan on adding him as an option later via DLC or something, hopefully if he was intended and then changed there is already stuff written on the disc.

Yep, I would have liked Shep to say that to Traynor and Allers. My Shep is a Liarasexual (was married to the job before Liara came along) and is not interested in other women, or men for that matter.MrStoob wrote...
I'm a bloke and I always go female characters in RPGs. Just for reference, there are many male options in Skyrim for marriage but many female players have complained that the choices are either boring warrior grunt types or simpering slime balls. And yes, it was a bonus that in ME you could have a 'lesbian' (Liara's not human so that's questionable) relationship. However, I would have liked to be able to say "I'm not gay, just because I'm with Liara and I tried it on with Samara, that doesn't mean I like human women" just for the hell of it lol.

The things I would've done for Jack, Tali, James or Javik... don't look at me like that, you know you want a piece of his memory shard... >>
And if I limited myself to males I'd only be able to romance Garrus because Jacob is... Jacob, and Thane friggin DIES after I romance him on my renegade femshep after a few lines of dialogue (wanted Jack or Tali for her damnit) Mr. Alenko is reserved for my M!Shep, it would be too boring and cliché to have him with my femshep! >( -Feels like a hipster-
There aren't really that many good male options while the females include a whole bunch of cute girls (WHOM I CAN'T ROMANCE Oe) and it's a bit annoying. There's a lot of female gamers and guys that want to play as women and not be lesbos out there. All my female friends play Mass Effect, for example. It's the same in SWTOR, they have a lot more female love intrests than male ones. Oe
This is something about rpgs which should change. NAOW. =v=

They were so cute with their, "Ma'am" and "Call me Tali" and "I'll work on that, Ma'am." It's the biggest reason why I'd never even considered Tali/Garrus before.
I also ship Liara and Feron like woah. I... do that sort of thing with games.
For my part, my Shep who romanced Thane war-asset-ed Kaidan, so what does she get, then? A whole bunch of women or nothing. Nice.
My biggest vote would have been James. Seems like such a wasted opportunity. Even allowing us a chance with Garrus at the eleventh hour would have been something. Especially seeing as they killed off my femShep's lover without any acknowledgement from any of the Normandy crew what-so-ever.
But yeah, even Javik would have been nice. And, not really my thing, but I know there was a massive amount of people who were holding out for Joker from the start. Or Hell, why not Ken Donnelly (seeing as I don't have Ash with any of my 4 Sheps and therefor will never see Kenneth/Gabby)?

Jack should have been a bisexual option, hell she even told Shep that she had women in the past. That transition in ME3 would have been far more believable than Kaidan all of a sudden willing to bump uglies with Sheploo. She would have been the only temptation for my femshep throughout the series and damn she looks great in ME3!
That does seem kind of weird that she would only be a possible male LI if she has already stated previously that she goes both ways.

I think a big issue here is that how can't you trust BW NOT to take away an LI, especially if you're not apparently apart of the preferred fanbase or you don't like the writer's pet and waifu?

Referring to the underlined portion, I hate that. I absolutely hate being forced to romance someone I have no interest in. I didn't think I cared at first until I played NWN2 and could only go after the druid princess elf. That bothered me because I thought she was so dull. Keep in mind that when I was first playing this game I didn't have sound so I could only make my opinion based on what I could read and the looks of the characters. I much preferred Neeshka. Then I heard the voices. I still preferred Neeshka and I disliked the druid princess elf even more. I find that last bit funny for some reason.
I would prefer they don't have romances in the game if they're only going to offer one. Then again, if I find out an RPG has no romances in it, I won't buy it. I've learned my lesson with Kingdoms of Amalur. I don't even play that game anymore. Might do a full run through just so I can see the end. Who knows.
On topic: I think the writing was on the wall when it took forever to get the femshep trailer out there. Remember it only came out about a month before the game was released. Add to that, it came out due to fan pressure because promises were made and a contest was done about it.
