Guess what the difference is in a non gold player and gold player?
Two clicks to the right on the quick match screen.... Not so elite really.

i wish everyone could have this attitude, it would make noobs like me feel welcome in a gold match, sadly i tried 1 match and lets just say hostility is not much fun when your learning to play
You have to understand before going on Gold that most people expect you to already know what you should expect from your team, the enemies, what your role is based on the class you play, about why you shouldn't cast Overload for example on an enemy that has been Warped/Reaved (the whole biotic explosion) or what Tech Bursts are about.
That is why the Bronze/Silver matches exist. To familiarize/ get used to what each class does what are the pros/Cons, which one fits your gameplay better and so on
I played 2 public Gold games today, both as Asari Adept. in each game we had one/two players with rankings under 100. Everytime, and i mean every single f***ing time, i tried to set up a Biotic Explosion (Warp -> Throw) they would either overload the target or energy drain it... I mean Really? it was like that Cerberus had a mark above his head "shoot me, ignore the guardian 10 feet from you..shoot me"
Anyway, this weekend is important for all players and as you noticed on gold, Cerberus has been nerfed up a lot.
Example: Geth Infiltrator, lvl 8 Black Widow, AP mod, AP ammo
Regular gold match : 3 shots to the cannopy to take out shields. 3 more shots to kill
Event Gold match: 6 shots to take out shields. 3-4 more shots to kill.
What I am trying to say is some players that have not stocked up on N7 weapons (i still miss the Valiant) do not have to much patience with noobs...i mean low ranking players. So for them low rank means just another person to carry around

Hardly elitism. This is about 4 man matches becoming unintentional solo runs...actually solo runs are easier because you don't have to watch out for anyone else.

That's inexperience for you. No one is born knowing how to do anything, it must be learned.
So, you can complain about and yell at newer Gold players, or you can offer your help and advice.
They can easily refuse, and you've just got to deal with it if they do. But if you didn't offer to share your experience, you're a part of the problem.
Instead of helping to craft a better player that can learn to be a useful asset to everyone they play with in the future, you can send them off to be a burden to others down the line. Pass the buck to someone else.
Here's another thing, did you compensate for them? Those Overload spammers?
Did you cast throw twice, to set off the Tech Burst/clear the Overload and still get your Biotic Explosion? Because you could have.
That's one of the benefits of experience, greater knowledge leads to better adaptability. They might not have that knowledge, and in the absence of teaching it to them the least you can do it use it yourself.

It's good for them, they'll learn. I hope.
I don't understand. Why do you play multiplayer?
If it's for War Assets, it's more efficient to crunch out Silvers. If it's for Galactic Readiness, it's more efficient to crunch out Bronzes / Silvers. The only reason to play Gold matches is to challenge yourself, when Silver becomes too easy.
So when an event comes up which forces that challenge upon you, you throw your hands up in abject horror and declare that you'd rather labor away at the WoW-like grind of FBW/G/G rather than participate?
Seriously, why do you play multiplayer?

^ This.
Most of the posts this weekend come across as: I'm used to "easy" gold FBW/G farming but can't actually do "regular" gold so i'll cry a bit.
Not saying that some people won't get a streak of bad games but most of the time you can see in the lobby if you have any chance of actually making it or should look for another one.
I usually average 3 extractions out of 4 matches on gold avoiding FBW/G and i haven't noticed an increase in "noobs" or "bads" since the event started, but then again some days are going to be better/worse than the others. If all you did on gold was farm FBW/G this event is going to be a huge headhache due to the change of pace, unless of course you stick to farming.

Though I wish we could neuter some of them ... *shudders at the memory of a couple matches*.

I had some of the worst publich games tonight to date, really indescribably bad as in my Turian soldier carrying 3 Infiltrators in one game just as an example. Is it because of the contest?
Sadly yes. Today I've experienced it too. I guess everybody wants a N7 wpn ;S. Even most of geth/white runs fails, which are easier than most on random silver runs.
Oh well.

I haven't read all of the responses to the original posts but I do have something semi-useful to say. I know it will be frustrating to complete an extraction with less experienced players. However, we all start out as beginners. The players that are new to gold will be able to learn from their experience. That has to count for something.
It's not that because they're beginners. It's because they go to gold with levels 10-12 or with wrong weapons. I am able to play with sniper asari. But an adept or vanguard with a javelin and claymore is just too much for me.Or people who refuse to stick together.
And what is worst. They will not learn, because we will never see them again in gold (unless next operation is on).

Seriously, "non-Gold player!?!" What is wrong with you people. It's a freaking game. How are "non-gold players" supposed to become gold players without playing the gold level?
Because they are not even able to make it through bronze.
First bronze, then silver, and then, when you have at least silver wpns (mattock, phalanx or so) try gold.

They aren't.
This is not some retarded homogeneous one size fits all game. The point of different difficulties is so players that suck can stick to bronze and mediocre players can stick to silver. Gold is much more difficult than the other difficulties and not all people are cut out to hang there.
That is the problem with this event, it funnels the failures that have no business being in gold (whether due to mental inadequacies, lack of fine motor control, or any other failure of evolution) directly into the laps of those that like a challenge.
As a result you are not only forced to carry their dead weight through the match but they also have a nasty habit of making your life more difficult. Im talking stasis breaking, moving their lardass krogan in your line of fire, spamming tech powers on pure armor targets, etc, etc.
I don't mind the increased difficulty that comes from these pugs, what I do mind is carrying the moron on the other side of the computer through games when they have no business being in gold in the first place. If they want to get better that is commendable, but the forums and bronze/silver are where you start. Frankly many of the players I have seen would have a hefty challenge in bronze even.

tl;dr: There's nothing wrong with people playing gold even if they suck at it, odds are they'll improve and become a good player. Playing silver over and over won't miraculously make you good on gold.

Full extraction and I got the top score on my first ever gold game (see below). No medi-gels, no missiles, no deaths at all. Did not have to fire my gun once, so I wasted a Disruptor Ammo III, but I am still a happy camper.
Our second game, one guy left and a high level Krogan joined, I didn't notice if they were soldier or vanguard. We had a few deaths that round, but everyone revived as needed. I used 2 medi-gels and 2 missiles and fired a few shots of my Carnifex on that match. Still got full extraction.
Another thing I learned is that the score doesn't mean a thing. I got the high score in the first game and came in second on the second game. But, in my opinion the Salarian Engineer and the Geth Infiltrator carried the game. Without them it would not have happened that easily.
I apologize for the blog post, but I'm still proud of my first gold games, even if they were the easy level.

i thought games were suposed to be about having fun and trying your best, i guess some people feel if your not an expert on your first try then your just holding others back, im sorry but that is the silliest thing i've ever heard, im not great on silver but i can make it to extraction with a great team that works together, and why shouldnt i try gold everyone is entitled, theres no rule saying only the best get to play, its just too bad some people are not very understanding of others wanting to try to get better at a game
Its perfectly understandable to want to get better, but at the same time you need to realize that there are 3 other people on your team, and just as you have every right to attempt to get better, they have every right to be aggravated for having to carry around a deadweight for 30+ minutes.
