This will teach everyone to adapt, this challenge was a good idea.

I learned how to use the Asari Adept well!
Stasis on the phantoms, teammates are MUCH more willing to open fire on phantoms after that (Yea, even the N7 20 Lv 20 Soldier with the Avenger VII and the Katana V) and then they die, provided you use stasis on the right one at the right time. Keep up with what your teammates are doing and keep track of those phantoms. An Atlas rears its head, tell people over mic to hold here while you kill the atlas and everything around it.

When dealing with this weekend, forgo the Vanguard, Soldier, or whatever class that is widely used and use the classes that bronze players are not acquainted with. Bronze players do no know the beauty of Chain Overload, Stasis, Biotic Explosions, a headshot with the Kishok, repeated cloaked headshots with a Widow or Valiant, or any of the advantages that some Gold players breathe by. I know this weekend has helped me improve, the dead weight also learned after a few matches. We got a full extraction after two FAILS, and 3 partials. I learned to use the Asari Adept, and the team has learned to appreciate its uses as well. They learned to beat the crap out of anything that has Stasis used on it.
There are quite a few noobs who are intimidated by going into Gold lobbies
Almost all of the noobs I played with were eager to learn.

Operation Carry FTW.
If you can't even extract yourselves, and you are completely unable to win a gold match because of all these unrepentant noobs, then maybe you are not as good as you would like to think. Food for thought.
Accept the challenge, carry and teach the noobs. Everyone who tries will become a better player because of it

definitely the weekend challenge
I got grouped with a human soldier using the insizor and katana. I carried the team to victory and he ended up with 9k xp.

FB White: Geth is so easy that my team (random) got wiped out after the 10th wave in a Silver FB Hydra: Geth (the left flank fell down in a hack mission, and no one wanted to use a missile) and after this completed the Gold challenge with a full extraction.

That said, I think I'm having more luck with my teams, with at least another good player each time, I've been playing Gold/Cerberus pretty succesfully this weekend.

OMG I totally agree with this post! There are waaay too many noobs in gold now! They need to have a system where we can categorically filter out people with low N7 ranks or people with toons under 15. I HATE NOOBS IN MULTIPLAYER SO MUCH!!!!!:pinched::ph34r:

You know, when they announced this, I actually stated in the thread that I knew my place and wouldn't try gold.  But posts like these...yeah, I'm gonna try now just because I know it'll ****** off elitist players.

Don't get me wrong, I'll do my best, but I know I'm not gold material.  It's just ... hey, it's a game, right?  Don't be hating.

Eeeuuwww, i`ll go to bronze then to relax

HAHAHA Bronze is so NOT relaxing!  Either you get the scrubbiest of scrubs who get totally murdered by wave 5-6 or you just win and feel like a chump for having to wait the 15-20 mins to get the kind of money would've got dieing on Gold in a fraction the time.

Edit: I don't mean any offense to regular Bronze players, but even you guys have to admit, you can run into some real weirdos in a Bronze pub. Silver is a bit better, while Gold is apparently mostly inhabited by farmers on winter break (weird, maybe, but mostly in the silent boring way).

Well, as promised, I tried. Attaching screenshot so the others who had to deal with me being on their squad (which I am sure is why we died at level 10) can be publicly praised by me for putting up with my attempt. Thank you, and I'm sorry I couldn't help more.

Posted Image

EDIT:  Second attempt, much better!  Changed tactics from watching what the others did first  time, learned where to go, etc.  Also changed weapons for new tactic and location.  seemed to work, only died once.  Thanks to you guys :)

Back to bronze...you gold people are nuts!

EDIT: Also...holy hannah, that's a lot of moolah!

That what`s relaxing for me :)

Walk behind a low N7/character and let them shoot everything, if they are about to die or die, kill that enemy, revive them and let him continue
Stand back in the lower waves and shoot the rare one that creeps up on me while grabbing a smoke, drink, watch tv
Get a nice kill count when the objectives come, rush in, kill them all and objective or in the hacking area just kill what ever they can`t kill

Some times there is a funny loadout and i just think "he`s going to quit soon" but just cover the other 2 backs and give an hand with the bosses

Silver is at a 50/50 of getting boring, getting used to it to much

There should be a weekend event with the reverse-- everyone has to get an extraction in bronze! It'd be fun to see bronze players heads spin.

I'll probably try to solo that. Bronze ain't too bad...

i'd love it if they did do an operation bronze or silver weekend, then at least i would beable to take part in it without been kicked and told i have no buisness playing in those games, seriously i dont understand why this weekend had to be a gold operation when theres so many of us never gotten to gold matches, and now because some people tell me im not good enough and that im dead weight, i cant take part in this operation unless i can find people who are not so judgemental and at least give me a chance to see if i can actually hold my own in gold :(

Keep trying to get in a game-- there's plenty of people who would be happy to let you in.  Some of the best players you'll meet are also the least judgemental.

thank you for this link i'll take a look in there see if anyone minds an unintelligent noob joining their game *thats a joke im not unintelligent* occasionally i learn new things, hopefully i can find some decent people who will help me to play better in a gold match, i seem to play better with my geth engineer and asari vanguard, as long as i dont biotic charge a group of enemies, stasis is useful though :)

it matters, some of us generally want to do our part and help our team, im happy taking advice and trying new tactics, just because im not fantastic it also doesnt mean im useless either, i need practice on gold, its the only way to learn and get better, also having a team that work with each other, and are not all running off trying to get top of the board makes a huge difference, im actually better playing a support role than a front line roll though

Seems like about at least 1 person inexperienced per game so far. Finished 2 okay, but lost one on wave 9. All Cerberus. The game we lost, 2 people were not using any consumables, and one guy kept trying to lone wolf it.

Just do a gold with a non 20 :P Biotic combos are biotic combos no matter levels :P

What platform do you play on?  If it happens to be XBOX, PM me with your Gamertag.

Myself and a few friends may be cruising through threads today and picking out people to add to our squad for Operation: Carry.

Gonna get some people some Commendation Packs!  Drop a little knowledge along the way and build some confidence.

Dabbled some in gold before, but didn't start actively doing it until this weekend for some reason. Some frustration is inevitable when these things happen, not sure how many krogan I saw getting crushed/impaled by the big folks and whether or not that one quarian infiltrator was actually batman in a clever disguise - a real hero that one.

Odd weekend is odd.

This! Everybody has to start somewhere and I personally needed the kick of the very first operation to dare even trying gold. I can now hold my own/ carry fellow teammates on gold.

I guess it is down to being flexible and willing to work outside our comfort zones.

If a newbie is being a maveric I like to give them the benefit of the doubt. I take advantage of my microphone, make suggestions, coordinate equipment/objectives and if all else fails, just carry them. Only experience will help some players figure out how to be more effective in gold.

No offense taken, but do you understand how fun that is? I might complain from time to time about the weirdos, but what they do is funny-memorable:
  • Krogan headbutting his way down a line of Cerberus Troopers
  • Turian Grenadiers tossing freezing Falcon balls around
  • Salarian with a Melee Fixation
  • Doing Hurdles trying to get away from a Brute on Glacier
  • Krogan melee'ing his way through an Atlas. From the backside.
  • Pairing off with a Human Soldier as we desperately try to cap everything before getting overwhelmed.
Gold is such an incredible challenge that variety isn't that encourage at that level. And Gold Farming isn't looking for variety. Bronze is where the oddball hangs, and you frequently get "WTF did that come from?"... and you remember it. :)

Yeah, it's a good feeling, isn't it :) I was massively jazzed that I actually was able to put up some decent numbers too. Though I admit in my instance, it was a one-trick pony. I specifically built my turian soldier for that mission, equipped the weaponry for that mission, etc.
