I recently had to replace my video card and now have a Radeon x1550 series.  But when I start the game and after the main menu select "resume", "new game", or "load game....game xxx" there is only a black screen with the DA-II cursor and then an error message saying an error occurred, report to Microsoft?  Any ideas to fix?  I already uninstalled and re-installed the game including the latest patch.  Thanks.

The Radeon X1550 dates back six years ago, and is in between the X1300 Vanilla and the X1300 Pro in performance (quite poor).

It is WAY BELOW the minimum for this game:

Minimum:
OS: Windows XP 32-bit with SP3
OS: Windows Vista 32-bit with SP2
OS: Windows 7
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo (or equivalent) running at 1.8 GHz or greater
CPU: AMD Athlon 64 X2 (or equivalent) running at 1.8 GHz or greater
RAM: 1 GB (1.5 GB Vista and Windows 7)
Video: Radeon HD 2600 Pro 256 MB (should be 2600 XT or X1800 GTO)
Video: NVIDIA GeForce 7900 GS 256 MB cards (unless this should be
7800 GS)
Disc Drive: DVD ROM drive required
Hard Drive: 7 GB
Sound: Direct X 9.0c Compatible Sound Card Windows Experience
Index: 4.5

Compared to the X1300 Pro, the X1550 looks to me as if it should have carried an X1300 GTO label, instead.  Why it was named so deceptively is not anything I ever understood, but they did almost the same thing a couple of years before with the Radeon 9550 and the X1050 (both almost the same, but the 9550 was AGP and the X1050 was PCIe,

I was afraid of that, somehow I downgraded my video card when I had to change it. Thanks for your reply.

You shouldn't have paid more than pocket change for it. Brand new on Newegg, it was about $40 or so, maybe $45, at which time an X1600 Plus was about $60 (ATI's beginner gaming card had started at about $90, but had been far enough behind the Geforce 7600 that an X1650 Pro had replaced it already.) The X1550 came out, and then many of the X1600 Pros in the warehouse were reflashed to report that they were "X1300 XT" cards. Very confusing of ATI all around.

All these years later, if it was still on any storefront retailer's shelves, it should have been marked down to maybe $25 to get rid of it, a couple of years ago.

P. S.  I was just shopping for a vintage wet-shaving soap mug, with brush, on that popular auction web site, and accidentally plugged its name in where I meant to write "Newegg", and have now edited that sentence.  I'm redecorating a bathroom in 1950s style, similar to the way the house I live in might have loooked, when brand new, in 1961.  I already have the same Gillette DE razors I actually used in 1966, that I was still using well into the 1980s, and held onto since then.  I didn't live in this house until 1981, when it was already 20 years old.

Sorry about the initial confusion on top.
