First time user. Enter email and password. Says it is validating but nothing. Anyone know what is wrong. Tried to get hold of someone at EA but that appears hopeless. They have no customer support?

Same thing for me. Bought the game yesterday, and it gets stuck at "validating". Couldn't find any proper support contact from EA either.

Same here. As we all seem to have bought the game around the same time, maybe their validating servers are down. Which still is not acceptable. Down with online activation...

I just tried something. I have 2 EA accounts (due to the fact that googlemail at one point decided that emails sent at (myname)@gmail.com would get through anymore). DA Origins is registered with my old account. If you choose THAT login, the program noticed it was a correct account, but also told my my DA 2 code had already been registered (on the new one).
In short: The REGISTRATION seems to work, but the program obviousy doesn't activate and run DA 2.

They have some CS...somewhere in the world. To get this issue fixed everyone needs to contact EA. The self-help forum here can't help you, its gamers helping gamers.
Or maybe a Bioware Dev could poke someone in EA to feed the hamsters powering the auth servers.

Same issue. Funny thing is if I had pirated the game, I would be playing it now and still have my money. Thanks a lot EA for the great copy protection.

ok, already posted in another thread regarding this, but figured i should mention it here.
spoke to an EA rep regarding this, and they suggested uninstalling and reinstalling via Origin. Supposedly games downloaded via origin do not require vaidation
giving it a little while to fix itself before i try to download it instead of using the disk, but will let you all know if using origin works once i have tried it.

Do you have a phone number for support that works?

FYI I downloaded Origin and tried that but it still tries to validate.

I am seeing same issue, I don't think it is bioware's fault, doesn't ea host the servers? this thread implies that it is an EA issue and that it will take 10-48 hours to fix.
As someone who was in the software development field, here's my thoughts:
1. 10-48 hours to fix means no one really knows what is going on or...
2. There is one guy who knows what is going on and he is unavailable this weekend and they are trying their best with the limited people they have, or...
3. The issue is a hardware issue and they hardware provider is not responding and no backup was in place (unless it is multiple hardware failures, like a power outage to a server farm)
I'm leaning towards some combination of all 3, a hardware failure and a failed backup system and they can't find they guy who set up the backup system.

Just got off chat with an EA customer support guy and he said a number of people have complained about this, the developers are aware of the problem, and try to validate again in 2-3 hours. Part of conversation quoted below.
Shivam: I can understand how disappointing it is. Some of the customers have reported this issue. Our developers are aware of it and are working for a resolution. We appreciate your patience while the issue is being looked into.
...
Shivam: It will be fixed as soon as possible.
you: i'm sure it will, did they give you an idea of how long (i.e. estimate)?
Shivam: Please wait for at least 2-3 hours.

That was better than i got when i talked to them several hours ago. at that point they had no idea how long it would be. Just told me to check back every 6-12 hours or so until it was working. Good think I already had it installed on my laptop

They were probably just giving him a made up estimate to get him off the line. I bet it won't be fixed until Monday wherever the servers are.

Same issue... JUST bought the game at 7:30PM EST today (4/28/2012) at a Target here in Georgia.
Everytime, and I mean this EVERYTIME, I go back on my promise to give EA the heave-ho I get the impression that I am my own worst enemy and a glutton for punishment. From Warhammer Age of Reckoning this this garbage. EA is terrible. Even if this isn't EA's fault, it's EA's fault... Housing bubble? EA's fault... Jobless numbers? EA's fault... Gonna deep-six this game just on general principle.
